Fry me to the moon

Let me play among the stars

let me play among the stars

let me see what spring is like on jupiter and mars

In other words, hold my hand

OFF TO NEVER NEVER LAND

And ret me pray among da star

Why is Rei spinning like some grill kebab? Who's cooking teh Rei? Also
>fly me to the black moon

Fill my heart with song
and let me sing for ever more

YOU ARE ALL I LONG FOR

ALL I WORSHIP AND ADORE

SOOOOOOOOOOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME

Frank Sinatra > some jap

Fly me to the moon, and let me play among the stars
Let me see what Spring is like on Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand!
In other words, darling, kiss me!
Fill my heart with song and let me sing forevermore
You are all I long for, all I worship and adore
In other words, please be true!
In other words, I love you!

furayyyy me to da moon~

But the normal moon is a seed too.

This so much.

What meaning does this song have for the series?

FLY TO ME TO THE MOON AND BACK
LIKE A MAGICAL DREAM JUST YOU AND ME

None, but the moon was meant to be important in the early plans for the plot, which was probably why they chose it.

Anno ended up throwing out most of what was planned and making it up as he went along.

IN OTHER WORDS,
PLEASE BE TRUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEE

Frank Sinatra was too good for this world.

He did it all, and he stood tall, and he did it his way.

The english version is good though

youtu.be/G9W7ZU1-0l0

if he's so great then why is he dead?

Tfw you realize Kaworu referenced a Sinatra song in his love confession
Kaworu likes puns

He was too good and the world had to balance itself out.

He was too good for this sinful Earth

Yeah, but it seems like such an odd choice for him to cover a song from an anime.

NGE made this my favorite song

sinatra = overrated trash

Jr maybe, but Sr was a living god.

I miss actual Eva theory discussion so much. I'm glad it came back for like a year when 3.33 came out and the manga ended. I hope 4.44 actually comes out some day, I cant stand not having my eva fix.

>Tfw I realized that there are a lot of different versions of this song used in the ed's.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=32PgDZW5ikk

This version is the best.

FLY TO ME TO THE MOON AND BACK

best version

>asuka
>best version
Pick one.

>reifag

Yes, she has been my waifu for 10 years now.

You mean this youtube.com/watch?v=tOkLF8rcOqI

There's a good thread up right now about if the Angel's reached Lilith.

Read the lyrics. All the characters were motivated by love and wanted to escape, and no one said a single truthful sentence for 13 hours.

...

Does Eva have the most iconic OP and ED of all time?

Only the OP is iconic

They will never best Evangelion.

JAA

Why do I feel like hanging myself whenever I listen to this?

youtube.com/watch?v=F7gXLqMe5Bw

Why do I feel like hanging myself always?

Cruel Angel Thesis must be one of the most catchy songs ever.

Nostalgia maybe?
I watched NGE for the first time in my late teens when I was impressionable and had low self esteem, and it really left a mark

Agreed.

This isn't even the saddest song from evangelion.

EEEEEXIT LIGHT

jap version = overrate trash

Played Bayonetta recently and it's got some kickass version. Doesn't really explain how they sung it some 500 years ago before Sinatra but it's not like that's the most absurd aspect of the game.

What is the saddest?

Well there's TUMBLING DOWN for one
Also
>If I can't be yours
>Mother is the first other (maybe that's just me but that song is depressing)
>Sakura nagashi
>Expansion of blockade
>Everything you've ever dreamed
probably a couple others I forgot

The whole EoE soundtrack is a suicide stimulator

I like the bayonetta version

>Everything you've ever dreamed
Did this actually appear in Eva?

No it didn't in the end, but it was written by Anno if I'm not mistaken.

No, it was adapted by the English band/singer from a poem Anno wrote just like Komm Susser Todd

>gameshit

>Being this autistic
What's wrong with (You)?

Bayoneeta had a pretty good soundtrack overall.

I'm still here, so I don't know about that.

It's up there, but I think Tank takes the cake

This: youtube.com/watch?v=7UgSGN5USZQ

Good shit, man.

It's called Thanatos, dumbass.

wow rude

even the opening to the movie, 'Ask DNA' is badass

I adore almost every single thing about Eva, but even though Zankokuna Tenshi No Theze is a fantastic song (especially in it's alternative arrangements) It always amazes me how often it gets thrown among the greatest OPs of all time and how much everyone loves it. To me it's one of the weakest points of eva (which is not a critique at all seeing how good everything else is) I kind of wish they had stuck with the original 'polovtsian dances' idea.

What is this original idea?

just that. Using the 'polovtsian dances' for the opening. I think eventually they decided that it wouldn't be too popular. So they went with a standard J-pop intro, but they got lucky in that they got a fantastic song anyway. Eventually they used a poppy version of it for Kare Kano:

But you can see how beautiful it could have been for eva if you check other media where it's been used:

youtube.com/watch?v=9EhJOe2d5_E

>Sakura nagashi
Will Utada top it in 3.0+1.0?

>he still thinks 3.0+1.0 is happening
user...

I still like the theme.

Listen to In the Wee Hours of the Morning. That album is a masterpiece.

Second to last on the soundtrack. The moment those violins start I get a little choked up. However, it's not an original song, it's just a great classical piece

Sinatra's best. It's best listened to with your preferred with your alcoholic beverage of choice, your highschool yearbook and a pack of cigarettes.

Correct but this version:
youtube.com/watch?v=pZRHD_a-AOc

"But this is the ONE Impossible dream to love. What am I, if I can't be yours"

I will never not tear up a little at that part. It's hopelessness distilled into music for me. Such a cathartic song.

What did they mean by this?

I like the first couple of notes of the intro but hate the rest of it. Really surprised me that basically the entire soundtrack aside from it is amazing.

Surprised me even more that people like the intro so much.

Someone post that one from Rokka no Yuusha please

It's a great 90s J-pop song but it's so outclassed by a lot of other stuff in Eva's Soundtrack.

iirc anno said that making godzilla made him want to do the 4th movie, think he said we might see it by 2019 but idk if thats true
