Any dope animes about ancient Rome? I feel like the setting lends itself really well to the anime art style, since you could do super detailed landscapes, buildings, etc.

By opposition with what artstyle exactly?
>anime
>super detailed

I don't really want something that cuts into modern time, or any sort of fantasy stuff. Just a historically accurate portrayal of ancient Rome.
I've seen some pretty detailed stuff
Is it time for cl/a/ssics?
Pline, from Mari Yamazaki, same author as Thermae Romae
not an anime, though
Are there just no anime about ancient Rome? I've looked pretty hard, but to be frank I don't really know where to look.
I don't watch anime normally, and wanted to give it a go, and I quite like history, ancient Rome in particular.
I guess stuff about the 19th-20th century (before the first world war), scramble for Africa and the "birth of nations" would be pretty cool as well.
I don't remember any about Rome.
About 19th-20th, you can try Emma from Kaoru Mori, or Ikkoku Meiro no Croisée (this one has an anime).
Innocent Rouge is 18th / early 19th during the French revolution.
Bride Stories is set up in an Asian country in the south of the Aral sea during the 19th century
I'll check those out. Anything about the scramble for Africa in particular though? Colonies, colonial wars, etc.
Some kind of Heart of Darkness adaptation would be pretty dope too.
If you're interested in getting into anime, you should approach it based on its own merits, not try to find something ultra-specific you already know you're interested in.
Sorry, I honestly didn't know those time periods were so specific, I'm coming mostly from books, cinema, and TV here.
I just thought that watching something that is already set in a time period I like would be nice.

Can somebody recommend me some zombie anime??
Fuck off.
>tfw elevens aren't interested in western history
>tfw western animation is pretty much dead and no chance for realistic historical pieces
I'm not trying to criticize you or anything, just giving some advice. You need to keep in mind that anime is Japanese, so it will generally approach topics, places, and time periods that are of interest to the Japanese. There's not a lot of western historical stuff out there.
OK, I guess that makes sense, thanks.
Then what about stuff about Japan during WW2?
Green Blood is set in a late 19th Manhattan then goes west a bit.
when did rec threads become tolerated?
There are a few but honestly they're quite meh. Historical stuff is not the best anime has to offer anyways. Except maybe for a very specific one about french revolution. As they say in samurai champloo
>This work of fiction is not an accurate historical portrayal.
>Like we care.
Also stop asking for recs, Sup Forums doesn't exist for this purpose. Google recs.
That's still a pretty touchy subject over there. If you want anime that cover war and politics, your best bet is usually sci-fi and mecha.
And if you want something more specific, you should probably ask on since rec threads are technically against the rules here.
Whenever people are actually interested in what is being requested.
>rec Joker Game to a newfag
Good job user, that's probably the best way to draw the new away.
