The 'real' American dream was a heavily conservative libertarian stylized Republic for northwestern European protestants ONLY. That was what our founding fathers had in mind and quite frankly, it built the greatest nation on earth. We've been in heavy decline since abandoning those principals (which made us great.)
With that being said, the new age 'American dream' is probably one giant melting pot full of civic nationalism, along with fast food, obesity, a side of drugs, and an end with a hard attack due to chronic alcohol consumption and being shot by a nog.
