Why would you want yourself or your “culture” to remain the same forever?
A global culture and a completely globalized society is inevitable whether you like it or not. You can be “traditional” if you want to, but to expect all of society to remain stuck in the past is folly. Pic semi-related.
Is “traditionalism” or “tradlife” a meme?
I grew up around and very much respect the Amish and Mennonites. Let us do our thing, we'll let you do your thing. You fuckers refuse not to tread (Democrats trying to legislate the Amish out of existence won him Pennsylvania btw).
The Amish are already using cellphones and computers (for business purposes only). Even they realize that you can’t stay “traditional” forever.
...no they aren't, or at least not the ones in Ohio. They pay people to drive them and will ask them to make cell phone calls on their behalf.
Fuck I'm pretty sure I just extrapolated the movie from this tweet
>A global culture and a completely globalized society is inevitable whether you like it or not.
No it isn't.
P.S. Amish absolutely do not use computers, but they do love Wendy's and will do a better job if you provide it for them while they are building your house/barn.
They also won't buy machine made clothes at your yard sale, but they will pay you for them and then cut off the buttons while politely asking you to dispose of the cloth on their behalf.
If your culture is not a set tradition than it does not stand for anything and becomes a manipulatable amorphous concept.
It's like when liberals try to pick and choose what America stands for and go back from past traditions when it suits them and completly new made up norms when it does not.
There’s a NYT profile from September about how tech is slowly creeping into Amish communitiea, google it.
they make great furniture but its so good damn heavy
Why does your culture have to stand for anything? Why do you care about the collective over the individual?
If your culture is controlled and directed then you have no culture
Patrician fast food tastes
Why do you care so much about the individual giving everything up to join the aimless collective.
The reason tradition and culture are so important in a persons life is that is what sets them apart from others.
Not setting themselves apart as a lone individual but as a part of a group or community.
You just have to respond to every reply in your shit thread to try and convince people to give up all that it is that makes up who they are.
Modern "culture" is just the refutation of ones actual culture.
Also lol at using the Jew York Times to prove that the Amish are not being Amish.
Its not like they have pushed the hatred of where a person comes from before
>Is “traditionalism” or “tradlife” a meme?
yes and so is that tweet
All that trad life means is a strict monogamous heterosexual relationship with the long term goal of having children. That's literally all that it means.
We are living in such degenerate and depraved times that this is considered a radical subculture. Chew on that for a while.
I actually live around and work with them, that sounds like Mennonites (guessing you're too dumb to know the difference)
>ones actual culture.
Spooky

"some Amish communities"
That is literally one community that sold out to change their founding governance documents (Ordnung - en.wikipedia.org
They would be seen as heretical by all proper Amish - in effect they are no longer Amish at all
Tucker, is that you?
I think traditional values are better for my children.
Your socialist modern values that Aldous Huxley predicted youtu.be
As Huxley predicted, what we have now is an effort to control society because the world is overpopulated youtu.be
The feminist, socialist will collapse the population, and a new society will rise up.
Just because something is new, doesn't mean it's good.
I believe Camille Paglia is right in this video youtu.be
Do Amish people have rules about what books they can read? Do they read about American history or contemporary affairs
keep the morality, yes. it's what holds society together, not gadgetry, fool
your modern nation is 60 trillion+ in debt, not including derivatives
ww3 incoming. hard to protect old cities whence modern weapons, etc.
degeneracy attends destruction throughout history. today is no exception

the rule holds
