I have primarily German heritige (hue hue le 56%) and there's a very good chance that my ancestors fought against one another in the second world war which has always intrigued me. Most of us know here that Nazi Germany isn't the big boogyman that (((they))) have portreyed to us through the press and Hollywood. Are there any films that at least humanize the Nazi's? Maybe a film from the point of view of a German soldier writing home to his family or something. Any suggestions?

"Stalingrad" (German movie from the 90s) is good too.
"Unsere Väter, unsere Mütter" (I don't know the English title) also is a mini series worth watching. If you are looking for a good read: Buy Hans von Luck's "Panzer Commander" with a foreword by his former enemy and now good friend Stephen Ambrose. A wonderful book, yet undiscovered by the major film studios.
There also is the "Steiner: Das Eiserne Kreuz" from the 70s, an action-war movie

Overall I liked Look Who's Back, but the scenes with the dog, while funny, are really fucking forced and retarded, especially since nothing comes of it later. It's like they made the whole movie and realized, "shit, Hitler seems like a really reasonable and great person, how do we fix this?" So they just shove in a ridiculous scene of him executing a dog and playing with its dead body, and then later when it's brought up have him go on this psychotic tangent, and then ultimately nothing comes of any of this.

Downfall is a great movie. It's from the point of view of the Germans, and it doesn't depict them as monsters. It depicts them as humans fighting a desperate battle in a war they are losing.
The Hitler rant scene is an excellent piece of cinema on its own, and Bruno Ganz's Hitler is not the least cartoonish, although people perceive it as such because we all perceive Hitler as cartoonish due to propaganda.
