Yes.

How come Zimbabwe isn't in?

All Empires die son.

It's the legacy they leave that is important.

I suppose you can make the case that it just receded, but internal mechanisms changed so it ceased being an imperial state.

>Zimbabwe
>not calling it rhodesia
They still have a few islands but it's really pathetic

Oh yeah? show us the remains of your empire then frog boy.

Rhodesia was killed.

The real founding fathers of the US

did the French empire ever really die?

...

>Excluding Burma
Burma is based, they are removing kebabs from history

No, we still control them with the franc cfa. Just look at Macron when he went to Africa. African presidents are directly chosen by Paris.

>spanish grabbing part of the portuguese empire

yes but the G5 Sahel was a complete failure , Africans are not good at war and the information of the military joint operation must have leaked out (from their side) because no ennemies were present in the area of operation !
the end result of that first military operation between several african country and us was a total failure !

dynastic union 1580 - 1640

They don't need a good military

the actual French OPEX in Africa costs too much and if we keep assisting the Africans for everything it will turn like Iraq with permanent soldiers and bases.
Africans need to learn how to defend themselves and not rely on France all the time.

>Africans need to learn how to defend themselves and not rely on France all the time.
Literally why? It's a really good situation, why change it?

like i said our OPEX costs a shiton of money and French soldiers lives , one day the big war on water will start and Africa will be submerged by terrorists , it will put us in a tight situation.

as it was 70 years ago-yes
today the empire can arguably be used to refer to overseas territories of the UK and the Commonwealth realms (HM the Queen as head of state) which inherited British possessions or took them for their own (for example all them islands that Kiwi land took from the Germans). while sovereign nations in their own right the realms and the overseas territories which control domestic affairs are for the most part still bound together by deep cultural and economic ties, with strong formal and informal diplomatic and military links. so while the empire as a central authority with the exception of the monarchy is indeed dead. the realms with their high degree of mutual agreement in policy and cooperation in most areas can be seen as some sort of continuation of the empire. at least that's how i see it.

Suspended in 2002 due to Mugabe's antics, left in 2003.

>and the Commonwealth realms
doesn't not really count as the crown in those countries is different so really the Queen holds 16 different crowns personally while all links to parliament ended in the 80s

The commonwealth is basically a sports club now it doesn't really carry any of the loyalty it used to did

>it doesn't really carry any of the loyalty it used to did
wouldn't really after 1973 ended market access

Yes.

The Sun has set on the British Empire.

When CANZUK gets started you cocks will be sent rolling. Australian PM is whining but once UK fucks over EU at another crisis point (has to wait only a few years to do so then bilateral separation can happen) they will be the first to sign on. After that New Zealand and Canada will do it as well and it will become the strongest power on the planet, maybe not in any one category, but the soft power, the sheer specialization and espionage capability, no others will stand a chance with America at her beck and call.
