How do I stop playing video games...

How do I stop playing video games? I come from partially dysfunctional family and gaming as a kid was my only escape (I especially liked high fantasy games such as World of Warcraft and Icewind Dale). But now I see that gaming gives me nothing. After graduation I got myself a great gaming rig and spent all 2017 playing video games. Yesterday I looked at it and felt good about it, but at the same time I realized that time is basically wasted, I couldve learned so much, I couldve done so much, instead I started to having back pains from sitting on my ass 17 hours a day.

How do I do it? I am afraid since its the only thing that I really liked in my life

Start by deleting them. Just do it. That was the only step for me. I think about them alot, but i dont play them anymore

Start reading, especially philosophy. You have no idea how clueless you're even for the simplest things. It is more interesting than games and it give you actual magic powers.

Don't do it, I stopped a long time ago & now I only have my thoughts and/or work
You'll be much more sad

I dont know man, seems like a waste of a good gaming rig
Any interesting titles?
find another hobby then?

Yeah, start reading instead and soon you'll realize what a fucking waste of time playing vidya really is.

I can't play any videogames really anymore(except in the irl company of friends), bought PubG yesterday and my god what a waste of time it all is.

You will see how meaningless and what waste of time the games are when you will erase all this progress by just one click.
>waste of gaming rig
So you want to do this or not?

Follow this to a dot.

After some time most people, even those who are considered and smart educated will look like animals to you. You have no idea how many mistakes people do without realizing it and most of them don't want to correct them anyway. Its like being a max level character vs some really low level npcs.

Actually I love PUBG with my friends

Everyone has there own path even though I was definitely where you are.

Just remember, its one thing to quit the games. Its another to quit the friendships.

Any how, I personally just changed the passwords on mine and accepted I'd never use it again. I relapsed once and ended up gaming for 68 hours over the course of 3 days.

After that I just threw it in the trash and set about filling the void with autistically planned self improvement.

You're not with your friends.

Personally I kind of grew out of them. I could play them 12 hours+ a day. Now I almost don't play at all. Setting up controls and getting into the story seems like too much drug, lol. But growing out of them might take too long and time is precious.
Anyway, the addiction mechanism is kind of similar to addiction to porn, I think. It's dopamine based. So if you can find something else, tthat will give you dopamine squirts and is productive, you will drop games.
Meaning, find something in life you like to do and continue improving on it. Easier said than done, but people do it.

I wouldn't stop entirely. Cut back. Instead of playing games all the time read a book...pick up an instrument...take up programming. Find something productive that you enjoy as much; the more time you spend doing that the less time you spend playing vidya gaemz.

Also find any hobbies you can. Join some community like band, firefighters or WOT.

Yeah but I also noticed that I spend shitload of time just browsing internet and killing time. Actually gave me nothing kek

Get into music production, put that rig to better use m8.

Also modds are extra fags for deleting the Self improvement threads

there's a bunch of them on 8ch Sup Forums

Long time ago I was playing video games for 6-8 hours a day. I stopped because my graphic card burnt and I was left with shitty integrated card.

I started learning how to code because I was bored and now I'm doing practically the same when I was playing video games. Sitting for 6-8 hours a day smashing the keyboard to complete objective. The only difference is now I'm getting money for that.

Just sell your set and start from there. Optionally recreate what I did. Screw out radiator from your gpu and launch some game on ultra. Close your eyes and let it go.

I dont lurk 8 sadly. SiG here was comfy and suprisingly helpfull

Sell the gaming rig retard.

>How do I stop playing video games?
Hit "esc" and quit to desktop?

just got a 1080Ti
probably wont even use it

oh... Rambling faggots don't deserve guidance.
Drink draino dickhole.

This
Gaming was saving me.

DAMN I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL BRUH

Is it better or worse to be addicted to video games or addicted to Sup Forums? Because I definitely spend far too much time here

you cant

Learn to create something with your hands. Reading is great and will give you knowledge.

But growing your own food, brewing your own beer, learning leather work, things like that- you have something you've made at the end of the day.

I used to game a lot, now I grow herbs, cook, paint models etc. My home is becoming slowly filled with things I've made, so it's 'me' and not a generic house full of cheap Chinese shit.

Good luck user.

Start liking them again. Collect trophies

Where do you live?

God, worst way to waste my life away

THANK YOU FOR SAYING IT LOUD BECASUYE I CAN READ IT BETTER

Katowice

playing IWD2 right now

I cant give you any advices then. Im a rural fag. There is plenty of activities here in the countyside, cant comment about living in the city though

You get bored of them when you realise you've been playing the same games with slight twists for years and years and years and achieve no real lasting reward for doing so.

>seems like a waste of a good gaming rig

Sunk cost fallacy.

But I love fantasy games man... I know its a waste of time but I feel that massive urge to play every once in a while (but only older titles that I already know like IWD)

Accepting boredom is the path to enlightenment
Entertainment are named "distractions" for a reason

If you don't want to you don't have to, idk why gaming is seen as "childish", if you're playing 10 hours a day though you should stop or cut back

This is what hits you, all that time wasted.

I only play 1 game a year now.

>You get bored of them when you realise you've been playing the same games with slight twists for years and years and years and achieve no real lasting reward for doing so.
Not at all. For me it's the opposite, I can only bear to play old familiar games and do the same things over and over again.
