The MC is a little less generic on account of being not only actually aware of his situation but also constantly pissed off about it. He's outspoken and, confronted with a shitty situation, he'd rather keep being a lazy piece of shit instead of doing any sort of heroics.

It fell here eventually... sorta, yes. But it takes a long while for that to be a factor. And being slightly more aware than your average MC means his interactions with the girls are unusual and funnier.
The girls are also a disaster each in their own way, with a useless retard drunk; a girl that's culturally obsessed with doing "dark" cool things and personally obsessed with developing and using a single powerful but completely exhausting spell; and an extremely tough tank that is unable to draw any aggro as she's unable to provoke enemies other than throwing herself at them, something that she'll happily do because she's a sofisticated and deeply masochistic person who extremely enjoys any sort of abuse.

The entire joke of the story is that the world they're in is a nonsensical trash fire, where "evil" villains are just strong people that don't care much about anything other than themselves. Where the world itself is far more deadly than anything else, being populated by murderous vegetables, adorable little plant girls that entrance you to take care of them as they keep you trapped until you die and RPG-aware monsters that lure weak adventurers with mobs of weak goblins while a single overpowered Rookie Killer beast destroys the naive parties.
TL;DR: It's a funny show, that's all.
The first season ends with him holding more debt than god himself and about to be executed for treason.
S2 gave him a few wins but in general he's still getting shit on regularly.
