The soundtrack, the fun characters and the general lack of stakes or wider context to shift attention away from the fact that two kids are just having fun adventures and becoming friends together.
I don't know about you, but part of what I loved was the sense that the girls never really needed to be doing anything, and I could just happily ride along as the viewer to their glorified magical playtime. It was easy to enjoy even when there were obviously more complicated things happening in the backdrop.
