What kind of game do people think would best suit KF?

I was thinking something like a 3D platformer where you would explore the world and meet new friends and you could have a few with you in a party that follows and you would swap between them or combo with them to access new areas to explore. Action-combat like Spyro the Dragon or Ratchet and Clank or something.

A japanese person is making a VR Kemono Friends. I don't know if he's just playing around with it or not, but it looked pretty neat. Unfortunately I cant justify paying $800 just to try VR, nor do i know anyone who has VR.

The hell did you buy? Could run some demos on the DK2 with my old 5770. To be fair not all of them, but it wasn't completely useless.

I have a Vive, but I'd have to buy a reverse kinetics package for Unity to have proper VR camera support. Don't have the money for that atm.

A GTX970 is recommended for the Vive because you can get motion sickness if the framerate is less than 90fps. You could mess around with it with a weaker card, but actual use would be ... vomit comet.

How much does it cost?

You can get motion sickness even with 120 fps. If possible you should see how susceptible you are by trying VR out for a few hours before you buy.

Inverse kinetics* and if I remember correctly it was around $100. The Vive is my roommates, technically speaking.

VR requires a lot of thought about scene composition to avoid this. This is why the new Resident Evil game that supports VR takes place all indoors with lots of tight hallways—motion sickness is best avoided when moving through areas slowly and with constrained POV.

So a KF VR game would probably be the worst use currently, as it would be wide open areas potentially with sprinting around and jumping if you were using Serval etc.

a friend of mine told me that motion sickness is worse when on an "on rails" video than when you can control the movement yourself.

I'm not super interested in most vr video games anyways, mostly just for flight sims and porn

I think that's how it was in the game too. They haven't explicitly mentioned it in the anime but it would make sense if there were still some animals that haven't been transformed.

Not every animal has been transformed. Only ones touched by sandstar turn into Friends.

if your eyes say to your brain "I'm moving" and your inner ear says "no I'm not", your brain goes "fuck, must be poisoned, time for puking".

higher framerates make the likelyhood of triggering motion sickness far worse than lower ones because smoother video dominating your vision is more likely to trigger that kind of eye-and-ear disagreement.

VR is like... the worst place to be trying to have super high ultra smooth framerates, as regards motionsickness, since the whole point is to be feeding the video to the viewer's eyes with no distractions.

The nausea doesn't come from the frames mate, but the latency. That was, and somewhat still is, basically the biggest problem with VR headsets.

If you are just between sleep and awareness you get mild auditory hallicunations and a very simple dream that just feels like you can picture things easier.

bit deeper and you get a simple dream you have full control of yourself in your dream but not the dream itself, feels like blurry shit.

next level you basically figure out you are sleeping while inside a dream and since you are at this point technically awake your brain will try to get you to kill yourself to wake up.

the reason why I want it for flight sims, is that I am an amateur pilot, and muscle memory is a huge part of flying. and vr is the cheaper option instead of building your own cockpit set up. especially since it works for different cockpits.

a joystick throttle set up even with a lot of options will just build bad habits.
