Is buying luxury morally items dignified? I am thinking about buying a watch, but somewhere I feel like I am wasting money on something I do not even need.

What say ye pol?

If it's a nice watch that retains/gains in value with age then it's just a way to store value. I mean why is that morally wrong compared to buying junk that will just lose value?

Slide thread, but I'll bite.

A good watch will not only look pretty, but last a hell of a lot longer than a cheapo watch. Seiko is a good brand that's affordable and quality. I own pic related and it's sweet, people always 'mirin.

No, at least one nice watch is something every man should have.
Special occasions ask for special clothing and accessories. Dress your nicest for weddings or death.
You will only once in your life experience an old car, buy one if you would like to. Sail around the world, enjoy your time.
But never forget where you started.

...

in dutch, we say "wat is er practisch nut van?" or something.

PHUCKERS

>at least one nice watch
>at least one
>one

Every man should have at least two dinner and two gala omega or better watches. At a minimum.

>Rolex

Absolutely tasteless

in chinese you aussies say

Design your life for what you want it to be.

And yes, a grown ass man should have a nice watch, not constantly dig his phone out of his pockets like a highschooler. MAJOR faux pas with the type of women pol expects.

It's literally nigger-tier, just with more money.

I don't know what ethics have to do with a watch purchase. It's not like you're buying an 800 acre estate.
If you have the income and can comfortably spend 10 or 20k on a luxury time piece, do it.
Otherwise, when in doubt, throw it out.

...

I don't wear jewelry. Feels weird. My wife hates that I don't wear my wedding ring. I do however admire the aesthetics and workmanship of a nice watch.

Do you complain about how soulless and disposable modern architecture is?
The arguments you would use to justify modern architecture are the same arguments you would use against buying a nice watch.
>It's not efficient
>It's too expensive
>It's just an _____ so it doesn't need to be beautiful

Buy something that reflects your inner dignity. Do your research first though and don't buy a gaudy piece of crap like a nigger.

I don’t think you’re getting a Patek for 15

>Says the Seiko male

Good question. I'm on the market for a nice watch but I'm so fucking anti-consumer. I've got tons of money but, I don't know. I don't want to fall for the fancy old watchjew

Will it get you pussy? If yes, do you need pussy? If yes, then you need a luxary watch.

If you’ve got tons, go with the Patek or Breuget

Are there any antisemitic watch brands? Like the watch they used to time the laps at the concentration camp swimming pool?

Just buy an ordinary functional durable one for several hundred $. Spendng unwarranted anounts of money on jewish "luxury items" and drand worship are signs of social/moral overcompensation and double-digit IQ.

>defining your dignity through items
This consumerist is perfectly trained.

You need third grade English. It’s LUXURY.

>drand
*brand

It's not nigger tier. Doctors, lawyers, and economists who are all well in their means to purchase an horological work of art can and do so without the stigma of being labeled a tacky person.

Besides, what do niggers understand about a Patek Philippe Calatrava or an Ultra Thin Jaeger LeCoultre.

Garish people have garish taste. It's what you spend it on, user.

Personally I rock a Hamilton jazz master open heart 2.0. Got my eye on a A Lange & Söhne though

You need get a life because you obviously don't have one.

>it's luxury
>reeeee

agreed, but I would shy away from a Rolex plastered in diamonds. stick with the gold and platinum

Frivolous spending is pure degeneracy

If you're going to buy something as stupid as a watch (which in itself is unnecessary clutter on your person), then at least get something that does more than tell time. Otherwise, you're just wearing jewelry.

>this image actually exists
Well shit.
Rolex is the rap music of watches.

put it in a proper asset that will accumulate value don't whittle away like a nigger (unless it is already a tiny amount of income then who gives a shit)

Well according to Swedenburg and Schoenberg the great great great great grand cousins of Sigmund Freud they had a critical and controversial theory that morality is inherently corrupt and buying materialistic things only a force is morality so you can draw certain parallels that would lead you to the obvious conclusion that there are Russian trolls on the internet.

a rolex holds its value

Not an argument.

Go buy some earnings too, you fag.

Can you please insult me or will your verbal Reckoning shall not extend to me?

>ad homineming
The absolute state of numales

pretty easy, since it is overpriced

what faggot wants an alpinist?

Ok Sup Forums, what's a nice watch to get at the sub 200 dollar price point? I don't feel like asking Sup Forums, I trust my Sup Forums bros more. I like a minimalist style like pic related, maybe in black or silver instead of gold

Yes numales means numbers in Spanish right?

Go to audible.com and get some free watches use discount code Philly D for 10% off your second purchase

Citizen is the best for that price range. Honestly.

At the end of your life u r given two options, do u choose a) to be given a device that measures time or b) to have your life extended by the labor cost of that time measuring device, let’s say 40 hours.

Which do u choose

You're not gonna get a watch worth talking about for under $200

Hamilton jazz master open heart 2.0.

Ye if you are bent on it you are better off saving for something nicer even if it takes you a few years

Although... Todd Snider and Timex have one that's pretty cool if you like the military vibe.

And fashion watches.

Your dignity is not defined through the item, but through the care and discipline owed to an item that you own which you consider to be valuable rather than disposable.

Which is more consumerist?
Consuming many cheap watches over your lifetime that fall apart because they are cheap, or buying one or two nice watches that outlive you?

nato strap = reddit watch

Hey guys I'm looking to buy a calculator watch but not the bulshit kind I'm looking for the real deal

pawn shops will have some nice ones you haggle for

>using a watch instead of having an advanced form of time keeping autism

but seriously, I just use a phone if I need to know the time.

I legit had a math test ripped up when I was 13 for wearing one of those (and it was a calculator test)

Pactfag detected

Speaking of Fashion watches in the $200 price range, you might consider Hugo Boss.

Seems Sup Forums appropriate given the company's history, and their watches are made by Movado.

So legit Swiss movement, albeit quartz.

Thanks lads. I'm mostly looking for something to tell time that doesn't look like complete shit

Like a dirty teenager?

no, i just play piano, and the weight of a watch throws me off

My girlfriend got me this for Chrismas.
No clue how much it cost but I like it.

There was this prostitute that refused to give me a hand job because I wore calculator watch had to God or whoever you worship it was weird I mean it was fully paid but she was physically disgusted by The Watch she wasn't disgusted by my pimple infested penis but the watch was a real turn-off for her I had to take it off for us to continue our 2 minute Love Session

I would avoid quartz fashion watches.

try citizen
BM7190-05A

Yeah here's another great website for watches it is called pornhub.com hahaha underage bait I know I know

I quite like a NATO strap on a nice Omega

That was the ugliest watch I have ever seen the movie was shit too except that scene where he was fucking David Bautista in the back of the train that was kind of interesting dare I say intriguing?

if it holds its value its an investment.

Otherwise, buy stocks or silver/gold. I've also been buying rare topaz and sapphire geodes but it's not exactly easy to sell them

Burberry watches are made by Fossil.

Sorry bud

I spent $1500 on a watch about 10 yrs ago, it still looks great and works well.

>Consuming many cheap watches over your lifetime that fall apart because they are cheap, or buying one or two nice watches that outlive you?
Buying the highest quality for the lowest price. A 500$ durable watch will last just as long as a 15k trinket. With famous brands you basically pay the major part of the price for the name, driven by womanesque vanity. A watch is a tool, not a fucking jewellery bracelet.

Armitron $20. It's a fucking watch not a hooker.

Those look like a formal watch

Orient bambino might be what you are looking for and fit into your price range

Agreed, but there aren't a lot of automatics on the market for $200.

what's that?

it would look better with other straps

Rolex is for Persians and douchebags. Omega watches are where it's at.

Rolex is the equivalent of a red Corvette bought by mid-life crisis males, fat, balding, with a bug paunch, lol.

Many thanks looks decent

hey i remember when people wore those things

i'm so glad it has fallen out of fashion to strap a clock to your body, shit looks weird now

huh? there are tons of automatic in that range.
i think he should probably go with pic related, though

I mostly I agree with you, but some of their lesser known models are great

Nigga I bought a Guess watch for like 50 bucks and because of the name brand recognition + fake gold + shiny face + fake crocodile skin = people literally think it's worth like 5k

Name brand recognition + prestige + implied value = p - r - o - f - i - t.

Pic related. Lol it broke but it was a good run while it lasted

Also you must know what you want?
Citizen have eco-drive and are the best solar-type watch. They are basically run on a battery that is charged by sunlight. They are easy to take care of but after a few years that solar battery will get worn out and replaced
Meanwhile, automatic watches doesn’t run on a battery but they need to be take care of more often. Seiko and orient have pretty decent automatic under $200

looks shit

Gotta be Swiss for me.

Mine are Omega's

We don't really disagree.
You should never buy things you can't afford, but you should always strive to buy the finest quality you can afford.

> With famous brands you basically pay the major part of the price for the name, driven by womanesque vanity.
In some cases maybe, but in high end horology much of what you pay for is interior details that only you know about, which runs contrary to the demands of female vanity.

unironically, the Timex easy reader is the way to go

amazon.com/Timex-T2H281-Reader-Black-Leather/dp/B000AYYIYU

>analog
>no gimmicks
>keeps excellent time
>battery life is epic
>indiglo backlight works great
>very thin / low profile
>so thin it fits under shirt cuffs when wearing dress shirts

Nothing to do with politics at all. Go ask the /fa/gs.

Sage this shit

A watch thread on POL?

Quartz trash fashion watches for teenagers.

I dig Tudor, it's the anti-Rolex.

lel
"the thinking man's watch" -Archie

t. Mad he spent 5x what I paid for the same watch

Enjoy your overpriced shit lmao

Fine luxury goods are a product of an advanced civilization, you should feel no guilt participating in the best the white race has to offer.

Lol. Your shitty fashion watch will be in a landfill in 20 years. My Tudor automatic will be passed down to my first born and still running within COSC specs.

good watches for sure, but way overpriced
i might even pick a springdrive over a rolex desu

>m-my shitty glow watch will be passed to my first born
>implying that's true
>implying you'll have children
