I found the Kenshin movie unoffensive at least so that something.

Edge of Tomorrow.

Edge of tomorrow, ichi the killer and I heard good things about the casshern movie

how close was Edge of Tomorrow to the OC?

Take all you need is kill and give it that TOM CRUISE HOLLYWOOD ENDING, which is a good thing. So, it's better.

Ichi the Killer was the only live action adaption I saw that I actually liked

I'll check it out then, I was just worried that they were going to shoehorn in a happy ending where "everything is okay"

Crying Freeman

Old Boy I guess.

I'm still gonna give Death Note a shot. Maybe it will be somewhat decent, altho I won't get my hopes up.

>happy ending where "everything is okay
Well, yeah, that's what it happens.

I liked the cromartie movie

Kenshin
Anno's Cutie Honey
Crows Zero
Ichi the Killer
Those are pretty decent

ehh, the casshern movie was pretty bad in my opinion. wasn't realistic or really followed the storyline properly.

The Usagi Drop movie was ok, the little girl's acting wasn't the best though

These

Back when the movie came out there where a lot of people who argued that it was better then the original ending

Usagi Drop live action movie was OK

It is. The original is some edgy bullshit

Attack on Titan

hahaha no

I kind of liked the live action Kaiji.

A lot of the reviews for Ghost in the Shell are saying it's good.

Pic related is the best live action adaptation ever made
youtube.com/watch?v=DvwhIStnDw8 I cry everytime

It's definitely better than edginess for the sake of edginess.

I just read, that the film was never released in the US, despite being descent. Here's a trailer:

youtube.com/watch?v=Va0DY1YGMJg

Oldboy
Crows Zero
The Crow
Ichi the Killer
Edge of Tomorrow
Lone Wolf and Cub
Rurouni Kenshin
Parasyte
Crying Freeman
Speed Racer
Phoenix Wright
Riki-Oh (this one is good for different reasons)

Not quiet adaption, but Pacific Rim was close enough.

Anime doesn't translate you to live action, it never will. And really, I see little to no reason to adapt anime into live action considering that you gain next to nothing by doing so and loses all the visual appeal that makes it different.

It makes sense to adapt a book into a film. a Manga into a anime. Movies into games or games into movies. But anime to live action or live action to anime? That's retarded.

not just anime, adapting animation into live-action is, 99% of the time, retarded and unnecesary

>edginess for the sake of edginess.
atleast is not happy ending for the sake of happy ending
>lol, kill everybody, but it's ok cuz we get a reset where the aliens don\t attack anymore

I was actually really surprised when I saw that one. I enjoyed it and the whole direction did remind me of the original series.
Though it is true that 90% of that movie is CGI animation, so it was barely live action.

Anime to live action translates alot better to film then a number of the examples you listed. Books to film for example on suffer from the inability to show inner thoughts and emotions without looking retarded.

>comic books translate well to film
>but somehow anime can't work

There just hasn't been the right talent. Imagine if Zack Snyder adapted Fate/Zero.

>games into movies
No. I can't remember a single case of this being successful.

>what is Mortal Kombat?
it works when the game is simple af

Does Wreck it Ralph count? It has vidyagame characters in it

Thats not really an adaptation, its just building of the existing universe.

while it's with no doubt a ''videogame movie'', it's not an adaptation

>he didn't like street fighter the movie

did they fug like in the manga :^)

I want you to kill yourself both for posting this and for implying Snyder is any good.

I want Tetris: The Movie

Mortal Kombat was pretty good taking on count there were only like 2 MK games when it came out.
Doom and Lara Croft weren't really that good but they were fun, over-the-top action movies.

Silent Hill was pretty spoopy.

Super Mario Bros is so fucking bananas I believe the only ppl who hate it are hipsters.

Raul Julia and the supporting villains are the only good thing about that one tho

Kill Bill

Actually, it was a bad adaptation.
The game is filled with blood and over the top violence, while the movie had barely any of this.
imdb.com/title/tt0113855/parentalguide

saw this movie in the theaters. I agree. It's a good movie and adaptation.

Hey,we got a fucking Battleship movie.I'm sorry for reminding you that abomination though.

Your fault for never watching Yakuza Weapon, OP
youtube.com/watch?v=JIk6dqQjXk8

This desu. Anime is pure imagination. Live action has a bunch of limitations of setting and cast. But the possibilities with anime are practically infinite.

What will Raito's american name be?

Raymond?

it's still the best not-wreckitralph-videogame-movie there is

In EoT they killed the omega mimic

I dont think they manage to do that in the original, in fact, im pretty sure the war is still not yet won by the time it ends

Rip Raul julia

Light Turner, actually

...

>Super Mario Bros is so fucking bananas I believe the only ppl who hate it are hipsters.
This. When the adaptations are obviously not trying to adapt anything and just using the original's work name, you should just laugh and enjoy.

Rurouni Kenshin movies were very good, especially the first one.
Also, the movie version of Ōoku: The Inner Chambers (or Lady Shogun and her Men) is also a faithful and well done adaptation. It's Edo period josei, so it's probably not everyone's cup of tea.
If you like slice of life and classical music, the original Nodame Cantabile live action is just lovely. The later movies (or OVAs or whatever they were) are quite okay, but they suffer from the same issues as the manga and the anime.

If we include stage productions, the first run of Naruto Live Stage is superb - although it adapts the source material very heavily and compresses everything before the time-skip into a bit over two hours. You should definitely give it a try!

>Parasite

So, his name will be Switch?

I liked it

Yes and he'll run the new zelda at 22fps

...

>it's not allowed to make one simple video game joke on Sup Forums
Get out Mr.no fun

Rurouni Kenshin. It was a hit of that year.

I agree completely, this is a little off topic since it's Sup Forums-related, but Disney's recent slew of live-action adaptions of their animated classics actively piss me off, I have difficulty reading it as anything other than an effort to delegitimise the very films that people most closely associate with the studio

I'm glad I've seen some reviews questioning why the Beauty and the Beast adaption needs to exist. Cinderella amazes with it's perfect translation into 3DPD, the Lion King amazes due to its use of technology, it took until this one for people to ask "wait, what's the point?" - especially when they're so full of visual effects, like The Jungle Book, they're still basically cartoons anyway.

I thought Omega mimic was supposed to be on the moon or some shit

Came here to post this.

Phoenix Wright

There is one and only one :
Ricky Oh

You've got a lotta guts Oscar.

I saw the Ping Pong adaptation first, and it wasn't bad.

>the Lion King amazes due to its use of technology
fuck, *Jungle Book

Phoenix Wright you fucking shit

didn't Lone Wolf and Cub start out as an old samurai movie series first? I thought that's why the manga took so many movie cues, like actual fades between different scenes.

>MC in Usagi Drop was kind of ugly, MC in the movie is good looking.
>Good looking MCs in other series are ugly in the live action.
Why Japan?

Manga started came out on September 1970, first movie came out on 15 January 1972

>Naruto Live Stage

I refuse to believe this is a thing

It was pretty good, hell I even liked the hollywood ending better than the manga one

they didn't have explicit sex in the Kite live action either.

And now that makes we wonder if there are any porn adaptations of anime...

Not an adaption, but Matrix was pretty good.

Has been since 2015. The original had two runs with slight differences in 2015 and 2016, and now they're making a third one that'll premiere in the summer, with the plot from the beginning of Shippuuden.

I know nothing about it but the photos of the cast still impress me.

he's absolutely right, though.
for animeshit to happen you need a capeshit director.

Speed Racer
Edge of Tomorrow
Crows Zero

Hopefully Blade of The Immortal

They really nailed Tsunade

Impossible. The japanese original creation itself ignores what kind of cast you can use to make a movie.
Same shit will happen if tries to make an marvel movies in Japan.
For example, Attack on Titans has everyone japanese despite only Misaka being real japanese there.
Marvel or DC comics is more holywood friendly to make movies since the original works itself adapts itself into the movie most of time.

But the opposite is quite more possible.
You can put anykind of nationalyty in anime with japanese dub and be near as good as original creation.

>Naruto looks like a faggot
nailed it

I generally think anime stylistically will always look inferior in live-action, but I'd like to think that in the right hands Bebop could still be the one to show it can work in some cases. It's the perfect choice considering its influences are rooted in live-action anyway.

It's a shame that when it was seriously being considered with Keanu, the budget it would require was gargantuan. I hate to go against the meme, but Keanu has become to old for it now. Maybe Joseph Gordon Levitt?

The existence of the GitS movie angers me, and I'm certainly not going to see it (or at least pay for it), but if it was successful enough to get a Bebop movie going, maybe it wouldn't have been in vain after all?

Akagi was really good, same for Tohai. I guess mahjong is not something difficult to adapt

Kenshin was pretty nice too and Shin Godzilla was basically EVA live action

That crossed my mind but it's not really good. Same goes for Black Swan.

>Kill Bill
>not really good
how does it feel to be such a pleb?

kek'd, checked and confirmed.

Ping Pong

It feels nice, thank you.

you speak like there only exists capeshit, as if Manga would only consist of shonen.

comics existed before Marvel/DC and will outlive those dumb companies.

Kamisama no Iutoori
youtube.com/watch?v=yjYxfpDdMzI

Fuck off. I bet you only read the shitty manga.

This exists.

That page of the manga that circulates here is fake.
