Bleach

How did kubo do it? How was it so good? How can other mangakas compete?

>good

>Implying it wasn't fantastic

it wasn't, it was a complete shit show after Genryuusai was killed. Kubo kept putting himself in corners and pulling out things from his ass that even porn stars would blush.

And to make matters worse, his pacing is without a doubt, the worst ever.

...

>asspulls

It's a shonen based on abilities. Not having outlined all your abilities prior to a battle isn't an asspull. All abilities were consistent

The pacing is fine, better extended sections on a few fights as opposed to switching between four. That would be much more of a cluster fuck

>all abilities were consistent
>pacing is fine

Please contribute to discussion in the future.

The only thing which is worse than Bleach is the dogshit I saw in my garden.

I already did:

>it's a shitty bait thread
Fairy Tail is a masterpiece, fight me.

Please detail what you consider an asspull, and your problems with the pacing

...

Kubo dindunuffin!

Slight correction, it went to shit after the Monk was killed. That's the moment it became salvageable.

And while Pernida vs Mayuri was fun, it wasn't good, and everything else was shit.

>that rushed ending

Reminded me of the flowershop scene in The Room.

Coming from someone who used to be a huge Bleach fan. The final arc was absolute crap.

Meant to say unsalvageable. Also, Ichigo didn't do dick in the final arc, Ichigo might just be one of the worst shounen protagonists. Funny how he started so good and ended so shit.

>didn't do dick
>killed God

????

That was always one of bleach's big problems, Ichigo isn't really interesting. The Gotei 13 are much better.
I've been re-reading Blech now, I quit when Aizen was defeated last time. Now the blood war has begun, seems like I got to the point where everything goes down the crapper. Can't be worse than the hueco mundo arc with the silly Nel and Nnoitora backstory probably.

>Yeah can i have a dozen quincy?
>Oh hi Yhwach i didn't know it was you, here you go
>That's me, how much is it?
>That'll be 50 wasted chapters
>Here you go keep the plot, hi Soul King
>You're my favorite villain
>Thanks a lot bye!
>Yhwach exists the royal palace and dies the end

>fights a random quincy because he was on his bed
>goes to hueco mundo
>gets bamboozled by the best quincy
>loses to the bad guy
>spends 200 chapters going up and down the royal realm accomplishing nothing
>fights the bad guy again
>loses again
>Tsukishima shows up from nowhere and fixes his sword because even though it was broken in every future he can fix it in the past thus fixing it in the future that is the present(????)
>Aizen shows up and saves the day
>Ichigo fights the bad guy again and wins
>hah i can't die even if you kill me because i can rewrite futures in which i die
>gets shot by arrow and hit with sword once and dies

People always say, there's no way anyone but the MC is going to beat the big bad, but that's literally all ichigo did in the entire arc, he lost a bunch of times, then he just hit the bad guy once and killed him, somehow. Even though the guy survived getting hit with a much stronger attack before with his eye power deactivated, this time he died after getting hit once with a normal attack.

It was shit and unsatisfying as hell, and it could've been much better with a really simple fix that some guy on Sup Forums made in 15 seconds.

It's much worse. It starts better, when the blood war arc started people were actually hyped, myself included. But really soon it went to shit.

>Can't be worse than the hueco mundo arc
I fucking wish.

>BLEYEARACH

>All abilities were consistent

I liked Bleach, i don't mind saying that, of course the story was garbage but the characters, abilities, setting, it was all cool. The concept and premise of the manga was great and i think Kubo was at his best when just coming up with cool shit.

But the last half of the last arc was so beyond garbage that i lost every last ounce of interest i had in the manga, i read it because i felt like i had to and then i never looked back, i hadn't opened a bleach thread on Sup Forums again until now.

In other words, it was a massive disappointment.

If it was so good why was it canned? Checkmate athiests.

...

>all abilities were consistent
>Yamamoto summons ten trillion skeletons because his power is fire

kek

Basic symbolsim faggot

>Water is life
>Fire is death
>With enough fire you can summon death

Better pay attention instead of blindly claiming asspuls idiot.

>using a hype development as an example of an asspull

He's literally the most powerful, why wouldn't this be an acceptable use of his abilities?

Basically Bleach became terrible very quickly and never recovered.

youtube.com/watch?v=ACq7tgjHdGA

But if he's reanimating the dead, he's giving life.
Skeletons are only dead if they're inanimate and don't move. Motionless.

A thing Ichigo has always really lacked was a reason to do what he does, except in a very reactionary way like "I have to save my friends"

Naruto and Rufy both have an actual goal beyond the current arc objective, being Hokage or finding One Piece, and this made them already more interesting characters then Ichigo (the actual quality of the series doesn't matter)

And even beyond that, Ichigo after the first chapters was always grumpy.
Goku doesn't have a final objective (in fact basically all the DBZ arcs could have been the last one without any problem), but he was always cheerful to the point that he has now reached psychopathic levels in DBS that was enough to make him a more entertaining character than Ichigo
When was the last time that he smiled?

>BLEYEARACH
That's the Quincy boss' name, right?

It was hype and it was great, but don't pretend it made sense.

The guy even says when he uses his bankai is the embodiment of the sun, if we're going by symbolism, the Sun=Life not death.

And even if that made sense, we are told numerous time during the fight and even before his fight that a Bankai doesn't change the nature of ones power, Yhwach even says "His Zanpaktou's power is fire" how fire equals reviving the dead makes no sense.

It can only make sense by really really stretching a cremation angle, and that's still really stupid.

Before his mom died

>cool ideas
>Terrible execution
That's Kubo's work in a nutshell

This Bleach fanboi sure is one hell of a fun ride.

...

>How can other mangakas compete?
they draw backgrounds

Redditch

But fire can be the fire of life
Heraclitus even said that it's the origin of everything that exists

>Bleach ended 5 years ago

feel old yet?

I think the bleach threads brought me far more happiness and entertainment than the manga itself.

No, i'm so old i don't feel anything anymore.

Ungrateful children, after all Tite Kubo has done for usthis is how you repay him?

You disgust me.

Agreed.

>Those humans
>So full of themselves

...

Literally the only good thing that happened in the second half of the arc

.....................................Is this legit?

Can you even have kids in soul society?
What would even be the purpose of that?

I'm 99.9% sure that there were people born in soul society, and i'm 100% sure that it was never explained.

>Diaz

Oh you just had to go there, didn't you?

>Tsukishima shows up from nowhere and fixes his sword because even though it was broken in every future he can fix it in the past thus fixing it in the future that is the present(????)

Are you making it hard to understand on purpose? Yhwach can shape the future, not the past. The present and future are a result of the past, which Tsukishima can change.

Yhwach made every timeline break Ichigo's Bankai, Tsukishima created a new one where this didn't happen.

Let's add (since made me think of it)

>Whatever happened to Yoruichi and his brother so that they could die so near to each other that they were able to be brother and sisters even in the SS?
Or was their adoptive father just some kind of pervert that wanted dark pussy and boypussy and they are actually completely unrelated despite the fact that they look so similar?

>I gotta try this with Rukia

Based Jackie Diaz the prophet.

Gantz. Bleach last arc was good. Ending is not even near what we got in Gantz.

>Part shinigami
>part hollow (mask)
>part quincy
God damn Ichigo was shit.

Post the one where the guys are all shirtless picking ichigo up and laughing.

She was the hero we deserved.

That doesn't make sense, when Ichigo says that you can change the future, Yhwach says that he is right, but that his power allowed him to see every future and change every future, which implies that changing the future against him is impossible not because it cannot be done, but because it's irrelevant.

So Tsukishima fixing Ichigo's sword in the past(which makes no sense since it was broken in the present and every future so fixing it in the past shouldn't change anything), shouldn't even affect the present because it is broken in the present, and even if he could do that, fix something that was broken in the present in the past, that still doesn't explain how he fixes it because Yhwach broke it in every future.

The only possible explanation i can see here, is that because Tsukishima did this after Yhwach had left, he can create a new timeline that Yhwach didn't see at the time, but still doesn't make sense to me since Yhwach's power is literally seeing the future, all the futures, which means he didn't see Tsukishima coming? But how does that make sense if he can see all the futures? Unless he can only see up to a certain point into the future, let's say 2 minutes for example and Tsukishima arrived 3 minutes later so he didn't see him create a new future? I suppose that could make sense but we are never told.

It makes no sense and Yhwach's Sup Forums power was the biggest mistake Kubo made, was it really not enough that the guy was super strong and had all the fucking words in the alphabet as a power? I honestly think Yhwach was the biggest mistake in the manga.

And i wasn't trying to make it hard to understand, i was trying to make it humorous.

Does anyone know where we can get the full Diaz? Her old site was down last I checked.

>A thing Ichigo has always really lacked was a reason to do what he does, except in a very reactionary way like "I have to save my friends"

Of all the bad memes Bleach spawned this was the worst.

There was an entire arc dedicated to explaining this to you and it was even plainly stated at one point. Ichigo's life went sour when his mother died and he cannot stand to see what happened to himself and doesn't want anybody to go through the same. He's like those cancer survivors that dedicate their lives to spreading awareness and visiting cancer patients or any other person that went through a bad experience and wishes to help people. It's similar to Batman where the protagonist wishes to help people and he's put into situations where many people are put in danger.

Not every story is about finding the mcguffin and Bleach is in now way the first to do this, happens way more often than you think if you think about it for a second.

How did aizen manage to do literally nothing wrong again?

Truly the mc of the manga

I can't believe there are still Bleach apologists. At least Narutards aren't delusional about the shit that they worship.

>So Tsukishima fixing Ichigo's sword in the past(which makes no sense since it was broken in the present and every future so fixing it in the past shouldn't change anything), shouldn't even affect the present because it is broken in the present, and even if he could do that, fix something that was broken in the present in the past,
Time works like this:
Past -> Present -> Future
With the present being a result of the past, and the future being a result of the present. Changing specifically the future has no effect on the events of the past.
>that still doesn't explain how he fixes it because Yhwach broke it in every future.
If you could decide which card you would draw next, it wouldn't change which cards you've already drawn any time in the past.
>The only possible explanation i can see here, is that because Tsukishima did this after Yhwach had left, he can create a new timeline that Yhwach didn't see at the time
Tsukishima said that he created a new past where Yhwach never broke the sword.
>Yhwach's power is literally seeing the future, all the futures, which means he didn't see Tsukishima coming? But how does that make sense if he can see all the futures? Unless he can only see up to a certain point into the future, let's say 2 minutes for example and Tsukishima arrived 3 minutes later so he didn't see him create a new future? I suppose that could make sense but we are never told.
He can see the future, Tsukishima alters the past. Tsukishima created an entirely different past, which Yhwach shouldn't be able to see because it's in the past. Incidentally, Tsukishima arrived after Yhwach left so the past he changed doesn't even include Tsukishima. Remember that the present we see has now been altered to be completely different from what we saw and Yhwach had no effect on it.
>And i wasn't trying to make it hard to understand, i was trying to make it humorous.
My autistic sense tingles whenever somebody makes something easy hard to understand.

>Of all the bad memes Bleach spawned this was the worst.

Even worse than the "Kubo was a good writer who was let down by the editors" meme?

That's a really uninspiring character goal. decent person would want others to suffer like themselves.
DESU I liked early ichigo and I guess you could argue that his motivation at the time was paying Rukia back, it was after the SS arc that his character started to get a bit aimless and in the final arc where his personality when down the crapper.

But thats completely true though

He may have a reason, but it's still something that can only works in a passive way, where the bad guys are the ones that try to bring a change with Ichigo and co. trying to avoid it, and that just doesn't work to create an interesting character, particularly when even the "reason" for the character to act is literally just "I don't want others to suffer", that is the most basic reason for a character to act

Oh boy.

I can't find most of them but some are here: myspace.com/270093196/photos

>Implying wsj weren't balls deep in kubos angus

How is it even possible to take that many pictures of yourself?!

>and that just doesn't work to create an interesting character
My argument was that Ichigo actually has a goal/motivation, even if it's not FIND THE TREASURE AND BECOME THE HOKAGE, it wasn't that it's the reason why he's interesting, that was the other poster.

>particularly when even the "reason" for the character to act is literally just "I don't want others to suffer", that is the most basic reason for a character to act
A random normal person wanting to help a random person in need is not the same as a victim actively wanting to prevent more people from becoming victims and that being a large influence on the story. Remember that a large portion of every arc is an emotional rollercoaster for Ichigo.

Even if you don't find that interesting he actually has something that drives him and the "he doesn't have a motivation just mamoru" is the worst meme, yes, even worse than the one about the editors.

Not whoever you're arguing with, but this is the absolute core problem:
If something has the potential to occur, Yhwach can see it. A reality in which Tsukishima shows up -at all- (even if he erases himself from that Yhwach's memory) *must* be in present Yhwach's mind, or he can't see all futures. If he cannot see a specific point in the future, directly before Tsukishima erases his memory or whatever, then he can't see all futures. Yhwach doesn't need to have affected the past or present in order to be able to see the future[s]; if there is a past, there will be a future - if there is a future, he has seen it. The fact that Tsukishima showed up *must* have been seen and ignored, or the power doesn't make sense.

>Tsukishima created an entirely different past, which Yhwach shouldn't be able to see because it's in the past
If there is a past, there is a present. If there is a present, there is a future. In creating a past, Tsukishima absolutely must have created a future - if he hadn't, nothing would have changed and the story would have a bad ending. The issue here is that Yhwach didn't see this future, which can either be a result of him simply not looking or because he didn't see it - the latter of which is a problem.

>ichigo shows up, jobs, loses bankai
>go through bunch of shit showing him regaining Bankai
>oh shit new swords hype confirmed
>jobs to lethal guy for a bit offscreen
>oh sweet will finally get to see
>jobs to Ywatch for a bit
>bullshit chargin reason aside, Bankai
>yes.jpeg
>immediately gets it broken
>oh shit it's fixed through an asspull, now we'll see!
>aizen saves the day
>ichigo swings new sword once

what in the FUCK kubo

Was it ever explained how tsukushigoat got the best power in the series? One only ywatchs power rivalled?

Why didn't soul society know of him?

Guy you're responding to. It's not that Yhwach can't see the future of the past being changed, because he totally can, (pic related), is that he has no control over the past.

Simply put, Yhwach broke the sword in all the futures, but he can only change the future not the past, and Tsukishima created a new past. In a way Tsukishima's power is superior to Yhwach's since the past affects the present and future, unlike the future which only affects further futures, so he can just lolno whatever Yhwach does as long as he's allowed to create a new past.

All the talk about this subject makes me depressed about the fact that Ichigo didn't fight alongside Tsukishima, Aizen and multiple other characters against Yhwach.

>Why didn't soul society know of him?
I feel like, if you know who he is, this question kinda answers itself

>Hueco mundo arc being a copy paste of the soul society arc
>Everything after Ichigo loses his powers

Other than that its pretty good

E-e-editors!

How was that even still going? Didn't the manga end years ago?

Then, if he saw it, why didn't he know/understand that he could/would lose? If he knows that someone's power is 'better' than his, and can see that they (SS in general) aren't going to let him win, why would he have bothered to fight them in the first place? Even if it's argued that he just wanted to kill a few before dying, that doesn't explain why he was spouting off about being unkillable until his death.

Because it was inconsequential. While Tsukishima can change the past he's still far weaker and has to cut something first, and good luck against literal God. Tsukishima may have fixed the sword but Yhwach still broke it just as easily. He did definitely see Ichigo's sword being fixed as seen in the page above but just didn't care, I'm just arguing how it is possible.

Remember that Aizen made Yhwach see a false future and the true future where he lose he thought it was just a dream. Tsukishima's role was only good for fixing Ichigo's sword to be able to turn into the original Zangetsu from the "dream" where Yhwach dies.

They kept releasing filler episodes after the show had ended apparently

this has to be the worst bait with the lowest of the low qualitys that I've seen in a while and believe me I've seen some shit

Did the soul king have other children?
What did the soul King even do?
How'd he get so powerful?
Who's the mother?
Did the pieces of his body leave for fun?

We will literally never know.

>show
Fuck, i meant manga

The art was in fact awesome (though I prefer his old sketchy style more). It's just the story. The story is terrible.

> BLE
> ACH
Pretty much sums it up.

>BLE
>ACH
I don't know why this makes me laugh, but it does.

>symbolism

wow, just fucking WOW at all the contrarian edgelords in this thread. How the fuck did you expect him to wrap it up? The die were cast after he killed aizen and took Ichigos powers, completely killing the series momentum. Jump wanted him to wrap it up, and he clearly got screwed by editors and had to rush the ending. We got some seriously good shit in the last arc

>hueco Mundo quincy intros
>stolen Bankais
>captains getting btfo
>fire skellingtons
>all of kurotsochi
>all of kenpachi
>stern ritters actually having interesting powers
>aizen
>aizen

It's easy to comment on the rushed stuff at the end, but he swung for the fences on the home stretch.

Better ending arc than Naruto put out
