What do people see in this guy's works...

What do people see in this guy's works? I've tried time and time again to watch a movie or series of his and they're all just like extremely bad. Like zero redeeming qualities and this isn't an exaggeration. And this is ignoring the fact that I'm watching something expensive.

Go to bed, Tomino.

Their childhood?
I honestly thought it was normal to grow up watching Ghibli stuff, until I started posting on Sup Forums.

Why would I watch shitty children's movies when good movies exist? Even when I was a child I wouldn't just watch some shitty children's movie.

I didn't watch anime at all until late highschool and even I saw Kikis delivery service when I was really little.

I think he rocks but he definitely fizzled out his maximum potential. Of all things he's just an amazing character animator. If he was younger, I'd want him to be paired under someone who is a better storyteller.

What makes him amazing? Is he efficient at drawing disney-style cartoons over and over? I bet billions of people can do that.

>someone who is a better storyteller.
Miyazaki is a great storyteller though. Nausicaa proves that.

we have this thread every day

You really I'm gonna take the bait, right? Crossboaders should just fuck off. You're not even hiding it.

t. buttmad Otaku

Your tumblr gif surely convinced me I'm mad at a nobody that hasn't made a single good movie in his life.

anyone remember Katsuhiro Otomo? after Akira he never did anything else that was worth while. but, he had one manga/anime that was mind blowing in 1988 and that was that. Hayao Miyazaki on the other hand has so many hits amoung the japs and non-japs that he became of kind of spitful god that now hates anime culture. So, while he created amazing stories which engauge people in their childlike fantisies.. he realized he himself should have killed it or himself long ago. So, is his work amazing? Ehh, some of it is ok.. but, it seems like anything now is utter trash.

Wait a minute

I've seen over 2k anime series. What makes me a crossboarder?

You mean Steamboy? Shit movie.

Boy, you sure seem mad.

I'm as calm as a cucumber. It's just a .gif from tumblr. It kind of a self-defeating post you made.

>I've only ever browsed one board my entire time on Sup Forums
Fuck off, try hard.

Exactly! Steamboy made me wish I could erase my memory.

I've only seen praise for it on Sup Forums before. It was even in one of those
>essential anime
pictures, the non-ironic kind.

They see an anime they are allowed to watch and like. American insecurity is insane.

yeah but that was during his prime, he fizzled out

if they do then where are they? because i'd be posting in their thread instead.

>if they do then where are they
They took jobs that treat them like human beings, don't require them to do brain-dead things, you do realize there's no one hiring for 1 billion animators right? Just because you're able to do something doesn't mean you'll get paid for it or that it isn't a brain dead job.
You really need to learn how the economy works before you open your mouth

His movies are pretty good. Also very attractive.

But I guess part of their appeal is the fact that westerners are always squeamish about anime since it's nothing but titties and violence, which America openly condemns, while secretly enjoying it. It might also have to do with animation in general being seen as a childish affair that can't tell a serious story with likable and deep characters, so Miyazaki's movies are seen as "socially acceptable" in normalfag eyes. The only way you can garner their attention is through CGI and big name stars.

>he fizzled out
well yeah, he's like almost 80 now.

I'm sorry but nothing you've said is convincing me his movies are actually good. It just convinces me of your stupidity. It felt like reading a mal-tier review.

Compared to someone who has never done a single thing right? You can't even make a post without baiting. You're a failure through and through, and the fact that you've supposedly watched 2000 or so anime just proves you're nothing but worthless otaku trash that needs to off himself.

Well if you'd stop being so grumpy and explain why you don't like them, I could probably tell you why other people like them.

...

>y-y-your post is just bait
Keep your delusions to yourself old man.

>you're just grumpy explain why you don't like them
Because they're not good movies.

Fuck off with your shitty Sup Forums memes

>w-who are those guys at the bottom I don't know who they are better call him a Sup Forums-tard

you can thank me later.

Are you pretending to be retarded again user?

>people can ONLY speak about obscure shitty anime because otherwise, it's too entry level and it doesn't look good enough
You're not here to try to impress anyone. You're no fucking one on this website and you ought to keep your shit taste for you.

Well explain why you don't like them. Is it the design? The characters? The story?

More or less.

Talk about what you like.
If you're going to be negative, at least try to be detailed/descriptive/nuanced about it.

Generalized negativity belongs on Sup Forums and Sup Forums.

urine

What's the point of discussion without any exchanging of ideas? It's foolish. Nobody wants to talk to a brick wall. Even if it is the point, it's just no fun to not be able to describe the intricacies of why short hair is better than long hair.

I believe I've made
>zero redeeming qualities
Fairly clear in my opening post.

Funny because that's exactly the kind of behavior you're exacting in OP and all throughout your other vague bait posts:
All you've done is baiting, and I feel bad at giving you so many (You).
At least, go back to masturbating about Game of Drones on your home board that is Sup Forums and fuck off this board.

This guy is just to old and trying too hard to exist in nowadays anime industries..

I see no counter argument in this post, is it safe to say you agree with me? Because there's nothing vague about those posts.

Good thing I'm talking about all the work he did before he could play the 'too old and senile' card then.

i'm twenty-eight and i've never seen a miyazaki film. which one should i watch? nausica looks okay

release order
starting with cagliostro finishing with the wind rises
in wind rises if you think as jiro as miyazaki and planes as anime you will understand alot about him

his directorial debut, as you would for any other auteur

Start with SAO 1,and then watch the second season, finally go watch the movie, probably the best Miyazaki animes.

Consider they're made for literal children I doubt you'd find any pleasure in watching shallow propaganda pieces.

what do you consider mature anime for a big boy like you then

the manga of Nausicaa is the best sci-fi/fantasy manga ever

>shallow propaganda pieces
pls explain. i'm interested in stuff like this and might end up watching them

>what do you consider mature anime for a big boy like you then
Akira, 5cm/sec, K-on, Evangelion, GitS, Red Line.
>inb4 hurr durr anime for mature people like me

This isn't /r/ and I don't want to get banned

What's there to explain? Take any narrative and poorly convey its message to the masses using cheap tricks to make the audience consistent of small children probably sitting there against their will 'feel' various emotions like sadness and happiness because those are the only two emotions this writer can convey to its audience.

I don't useally call the r word but you sure should go there

What would you do to improve it? Changes in colors? Should it be animated more on twos?

release order is honestly the best way, plus he's only made about a dozen movies so it's pretty easy to get through all of them

Red Line has no story and peaks midway through.
5cm/s is kino bait, however I am a sucker for this sort of movie. Though it's by no means 'mature'.
>evangelion
Is pretentious harem wish fulfilment.

I mean, you don't speak for me so please don't pretend to okay? It's fine to consider them a step above Miyazaki sure, but don't call anything 'mature' because it's just meaningless.

Sounds like you're just an ignorant fucktard that can't appreciate good use of symbolism and cinematography. So you're like the rest of Sup Forums making shitty threads.

Stop baiting one after the other, it's not funny.

he could start by writing characters that feel real and aren't mere plot points.

All meaningless buzzwords.

I don't believe you. Like them or not, I don't care, but it should be readily apparent why people think they're good. If you can't even empathize with that idea, then you're either some kind of space alien or you have a mental disability.

Symobolism is a meaningless buzzword? At this point buzzword is a buzzword

Plot devices*

>it should be apparent why people think they're good
So what you're saying is they aren't good and people just think they are?

Any particular examples? How would you improve, say, Haku?

No, but your use of the word was definitely meaningless.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I love Miyazaki, he's my favourite director.

I'm not a writer dickhead. Jesus christ.

>favorite
Another meaningless buzzword. You're just trying to put prizes on arbitrary categories because you can't actually explain why.

I honestly can't believe how dumb you are. I'll chalk it up to a bad troll

He makes anime, but without the spice.
And that's exactly what normalfags want, they don't want anything that can challenge their narrow comfort zones.

If that were true why are actual good movies such as Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and disney-shit like Alice in Wonderland / Tarzan way way more popular than ghibli shit? I thought normalfags didn't want spice?

But you are a critic, and a critic should always be able to rationalize their arguments and describe them to others so that way they can be convinced to share your opinion.

Says the person who watches the same garbage Isekai and moeblob shit every season. Take your own advice

It would be accurate in both the positive and the negative sense to say he's the Spielberg of anime, right?

What do you mean without the spice? I think he has made challenging movies, too. Heck, I know a lot of people here (and critics, too) dislike certain movies based on ideological reasons.

Nah Spielberg is a fag. Miyazaki has actually done good for the industry

I don't need to be able to write good characters myself in order to point out when a shallow character appears on screen.

Everything he did in animation was done hand-drawn, he made colorful, huge worlds with no CGI at all, and did perfect, fluid animation without the Disney-type stuff like mushing the characters. Sprinkle what could be seen as no romantic subtext with young girls as lead roles and you got yourself movies that even critics can admire for not trying to be Disney movies.

It all really has to do with timing.

Also, he was a pedophile, that really didn't help him, i just like to remind people.

Spielberg has made at least 1 (ONE) good movie. Miyazaki still hasn't. And we can't blame it on his age unlike a certain jew.

>spielberg is a fag

rewatch jurassic park to see how fucking good it is

>he made colorful, huge worlds with no CGI at all
Oh are we ignoring the 100s of animators and dozens of studios credited in the credits of each of 'his' works? Any trashheap can animate. We're talking about screenwriting, script, etc etc.

Because one is drawn, the others aren't.

Nice assumption bro. You're wrong though, I hate that shit too. For equally good reasons.

I won't waste my time explaining why since it's an utterly boring topic, but consider this: a common argument why normalfags like Ghibli movies is that "they don't feel like anime"
Says everything.

You really think anything you mentioned is in any way spicy?

he is good, but he's a kike

Well it would help. What are some of your favorite characters, and how do they display their various facets and traits in a way that is not particularly obvious and patronizing?

>zero redeeming qualities
I know, the animation isn't even good.

you took 2much of the Sup Forums pill

People who say "they don't feel like anime" are those with a limited knowledge of what anime is, I think. Miyazaki has been doing this since 1963, and if you compare his works then to their contemporaries, they're not out of the ordinary. Anime is a fairly incestuous industry, so when something completely uninspired by and ignorant of modern trends comes out, like Wind Rises for example, it feels different. And that's a great thing, in my opinion.

Tarzan and Alice in wonderland are drawn, more beautifully than Miyazaki could ever hope to achieve.

If Indiana Jones isn't considered spicy what is? And yes I consider all of those mentioned spicy. They're also good which Miyazaki isn't.

You know that there's an objective guideline to characters with depth right? me naming some doesn't really do it any justice but Suzuki Bond is an extremely well written character and one of my favorites.

I always thought Tarzan was computer. Was it? Not that it really affects the end result, I'm just wondering.

I sincerely hope you're just pretending to be retarded user.

Wait, there is? News to me. Any images on this guide, or links?

Oh there's probably 100s of different Tarzan movies. I'm talking about the Disney Cartoon one with Phill Collins in it, not the direct-to-video sequel that also has Phill Collins music

the explain what is bad about them?

>good movies
you're watching anime haha

No, because, for the last time, requesting is against the rules. But it's clear you're just ignorant. An image? Are you for fucking real?

I'm real. I never knew they had a guide that explicitly talks about character depth from an objective standpoint. Never seen it around.

>What do people see in this guy's works?
Delicious Lolis

Yes, good anime exists. In fact, anything is better than Miyazaki movies, you can only go up on the ladder from there. Sadly I wasn't five when I watched my first Miyazaki movie so I was already educated

i think that's a good thing
