Nice aspect ratios you fucking nerd

ScarJo need to stop making action movies

This. A Love Song for Bobby Long was her last good movie.

That's the stupidest thing I've seen today.

But shameless copying without attribution is basically the opposite of the problem.

But it would've been a better movie if it ACTUALLY copied it.

why are you posting twitter shit on Sup Forums

>As it stands, “The Ghost in the Shell” should open to $25 million from approximately 3,400 locations, a weak result given its $110 million production budget. “The Ghost in the Shell” follows a cyber-enhanced soldier tasked with foiling a set of terrorist hackers. Paramount produced the picture in conjunction with DreamWorks Pictures and Reliance Entertainment.

Beaten by the Boss Baby.

Nice, get fucked.

Don't worry China will save it

>But it would've been a better movie if it ACTUALLY copied it.
This.

They coped nothing important. It's like with the Starship Trooper film, where they wrote an unrelated script first and then put the old novel's name in as the title.

They just skimmed surface elements from SAC, Innocence and '95 and mushed them together with no care for if they worked together. No thought to how these individual elements worked with their respective interpretations of the IP.

Pretty much. Avengers was a mistake. She's not an action star material.

>china
>watching japanese cartoon adaptation

Beat even has japanese dialogue in the english cut.

yup. she's better in a more grounded setting.

>another ignorant gaijin who thinks that china's political position is the same as their people's entertainment preferences
Anime is big in china. Nip and gook media are also popular there. You lot really need to stop shouting about LOL CHINA HATES JAPAN even when you know jack shit about the context

A Chinese company helped bankroll this movie.

The US market isn't relevant anymore.

I wanted to watch it today, but now I don't really
>inb4 polish poster

Yep. Even Korea loves anime. Only politicians hate each other's entertainment products.

Fuck off with that facebook meme.

How would GITS have worked out commercialy: Do you think studio execs are right in not trusting the audience to "get it". I can't be sure a "perfect" GITS film would have been viable commercially

oh I dunno anymore

it shouldn't have been made

Hollywood needs to stop making movies

Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off @ OP (original post)

Maybe they were banking on people remembering The Matrix. I mean there is a new Matrix being made empireonline.com/movies/matrix/new-matrix-movie-works/
But with the new Blade Runner soon, I just get the feeling movie execs are just looking for an excuse to make cyberpunk movies because cyberpunk is trendy again. So expect a live action Serial Experiments Lain movie soon.

But the first GitS movies is good even if you ignore the deeper meaning.

>Beaten by the Boss Baby.
I really hope this isn't exactly what it sounds like

my.mixtape.moe/ngcfxk.mp4

It's worse, if the ads are anything to go by

I unironically like Batou's actor

For some reason that gave me a john wick vibe.

I don't even remember the music from John Wick, maybe it was the guns?

Find a hotter lead actress that can actually act. You want a straight up hotty then go look at porn

Christ at least Starship Troopers was entertaining and unserious.

>that can actually act
are you implying that ScarJo can act?

Emily Blunt looks better in Edge of Tomorrow and actually delivers a much better performance as an action star. So is Antje Traue in Man of Steel and Pandorum.

You just have really low standards and also ignorant.

>weebs complain that adaptations don't follow the Jap source material

>weebs complain that adaptations follow the Jap source material

>retard don't seem to understand that the movie is just bad, hence the complaints

I hated Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow.

They should just get Mila Jovovic, from like 15 years ago. But put her in the gym a little bit.

Man of Steel and Pandorum where pretty bad movies so her half decent acting is just made to look better than is actually is.
Emily Blunt is actually a good actress though

>follows the source but not 1:1
That's the cause of complaint. Don't half ass it, 1:1 or don't fucking bother

>Antje Traue
literal who

>just change it up a bit
>It's literally RoboCop with the water scene

Joan Cusack

That movie was 15 years ago user. She's way too old now.

Go being polish somewhere else, OP.

Wasn't expecting you on Sup Forums man.

It had nice eye candy and a mediocre plot.

Just like the first film.

to be fair the same thing could be said about scarjo in lost in translation

Don't understand this logic.

>you want a straight up hotty then go look at porn
What one finds "hot" is rather subjective, user.

retards wanna see the exact same movie twice with 0 variation but they also want it to be fresh and totally new for the times

The problem is if you half ass it and pick and choose what you adapt, you just shit on the original and make a generally shitty movie.

Either adapt 1:1, or take the premise and make your entirely different movie following the same themes.
For example, if Hollywood tried to adapt Fate/Staye Night, it would be garbage. It's too Japanese. However, if they took the premise and made their own story, with their own characters, they could push out a decent movie.

Think the Constatine comics and the Keanu Reeves Constantine film - The movie is completely different to the comics, enough to be almost unrecognisable, but it's a damn good movie regardless because it did its own thing, and did it well.

I want BOTH

name a single movie that was a 1:1 adaption?

Getting the author's themes right is more important than getting all the details

One does not care to acknowledge the mistakes of their youth, but I spent way too much time arguing online about Lord of the Rings, good lord

The movies still didn't get the themes down as well as they could have

name a good adaptation that wasn't 1:1 or it's own thing

Kill yourself, twitter nigger.

So is the movie good or not?

I hear the plot is basically just Robocop and they don't even attempt to get philosophical or political.

Beauty and the Beast

...

Mediocre story with nice visuals. Same as the first movie.

The first and second Harry Potter films got damn close, and since I had pretty much memorized the books by then, there was zero tension and energy, just the novelty of seeing it dramatized.

The films didn't get gud until the third one with the Mexican sex director.

This is the film they copied.

A mysterious "who am I?" amnesia plot is not needed in Ghost in the Shell. She always knew who she was, the question is WHAT she is. Is she really human? She's such incredible math

I can't think of any. But, of the good adaptations I've seen, the best is Jurassic Park, which is completely different to the source material, but a fantastic movie anyway.
Jurassic Park took the themes from the book, then wrote a plot using the same names on completely different characters. John Hammond in the book? A shady jew who sacrificed safety for more profit (Contrast to the movie where he's a philanthropist and environmentalist). The Lawyer that gets eaten by the T-rex in the movie? He suplexes a Velociraptor, shoots another with an RPG then plays chicken with the T-rex in one of those dinky little jeeps.

That's what I mean, you don't just take scenes from the source material and randomly mash them together while sometimes trying to keep characters accurate then other times completely ignore them. You either do a strict adaptation, or you skip that entirely and craft something new while maintaining the heart of the original.

watchmen

>Part Man
>Part Machine
>All Cop
I fucking love this

and Grant went ninja on a raptor with shellfish venom syringes, as I recall

I think this movie does a good job at reassembling the atmosphere and style of cyberpunk anime of 90s.

In the same time, if you will watch this movie expecting the entertainment level of nowadays - you will be disappointed.

There isn't

When I rewatched Robocop 1 and 2 (but not 3 cause fuck that) recently I was blown away. I forgot just how violent these movies actually were.

Fucking loved it.

Hollywood is run by uncreative pussies now.

It's exactly like 90s cyberpunk for people who have never seen a single piece of cyberpunk media from the 90s

what the hell is Paul Verhoeven up to these days? I want some shlocky garbage.

He's remaking Starship Troopers and whining profusely about Donald Trump.

>Hollywood is run by uncreative pussies now.
This is why people are turning to Asia for violent movies now.
Sadly Hollywood gets it all wrong and thinks that what people want is not the violence but the retarded asian themes.

I'm going to choose not to believe that

Yup.

I can't wait for the critics to misunderstand his movie like he misunderstood the book for the second time.

that explains cape films making billions

>Paul Verhoeven, director of the 1997 satirical sci-fi film Starship Troopers, believes the planned remake "would very much fit in a Trump presidency." During a post-screening Q&A at New York City's Film Society of Lincoln Center

Correction, he's not directing it. I thought he was but apparently he refused because the new one is meant to be more accurate to the novel which he described as "Fascist".

Young cool kids want Zootopia. edgy teenagers want violence

ummm?

>he refused because the new one is meant to be more accurate to the novel which he described as "Fascist".
Hilarious.
He still hasn't changed.

Capeshit is the western equivalent of Isekai series with retardedly OP protagonists.

>adds in Homo LeFou
nope

Cape films are quite non-violent though.
I was referring to the action flicks fan-base that was left out by western movies.

it wasn't violent. the dialogs were just about dicks and pussies and tits

This just removed the last grain of hope I had for this movie

>Summer blockbusters of Marvel/DC are replaced with chinese cartoons live actions,
>This happen in you lifetime

Everybody say Ghost in the Shell 2017 is terrible. you think others animes should be Hollywood movies?

>animes
jesus christ

The entire highway scene

alright my image of Paul Verhoeven is starting to tend towards "director of showgirls" than "director of robocop and starship troopers"

>capeverse with marvel/dc
>monseterverse witch king kong/west godzilla
>animeverse with shonen jump

plural you dip

Verhoeven is one of those guys who occasionally makes something good but usually only by accident when he's trying to make it bad.

It makes me feel really good that his most popular movie is the one based on source material that makes him so mad. He must be so butthurt about it.

Do you also say corns?
