The japanese don't really understand what a joke is. They require 15 years of post graduate studies to be able to detect a joke. These men are then given the title Tsukkomi and are charged with explaining jokes to their brethren. Tadakuni is one such man.
I became paranoid of bugs after that story about throwing up a centipede. I'm fine with seeing bugs and insects, but i'm terrified of them crawling into me through an orifice.
By that logic westerners don't understand what a joke is because they need either a drum roll or canned laughs to know when to start laughing.
>drum roll
What?

Badum tss.
Close. Westerners are too insecure to laugh without the approval of others. They understand there is a joke, but will not laugh until the tribe gives assent.
They're the same, it's called social proof.
Oh shit right, a rimshot
>mfw Americans call rimshots a "Drum Roll"
>Drum roll
I thought it was called the comedy drum-drum-cymbal
He means the bim bam clang-a-lang
He was ringo
Dunno for the story, but for me he was a lesson on why the straight man needs to be in the overall act, even if that character is never anyone's favorite. Felt the humor of the show kind of fell off a good bit once he was written out as a joke.
