Isn't Nazism and Communism just different brands of extreme authoritarianism?
Both are planned economies, killed millions, and were extremely authoritarian. Why do some people view one better than the other instead of both just horrible ideologies that shouldn't ever be repeated?

I think the reason many people, especially on Sup Forums, hate communism more is that communism seems to be given a free pass by western society, while Nazism is not. You can walk around with a hammer and sickle on your tshirt and no one will bat an eye, but show anything resembling a swastika and you can get arrested. The ultimate hypocrisy is that communism killed more people, yet it is treated as much better than Nazism.

There is not a single pro-White Jew in a position of power, authority or control.
The Nazis, and indeed most fascist regimes have risen to power by positioning themselves as a last line of defense against communism, and of those that did not involve themselves in WW2, they pretty much all dissolved peacefully after the direct communist threat had subsided.
Remember that policy in the allied nations during the war would, if employed in peacetime, also be considered fascist by pretty much anyone, involving the same economic planning and authoritarianism, but similarly such policies were only in effect in the presence of an immediate military threat.
Communism on the other hand, has a habit of popping up everywhere, doing more damage than whatever issues it is meant to solve, and persisting basically until the nation can physically no longer sustain itself.
Thus the more appropriate question seems to be why some people still view communism as preferable to the liberal societies we have/once had?
