I would argue that space does exist, and that stars are extremely far away, as their apparent angular size does not change as the move across the sky, and that their relative positions to one another do not either. One thing thaty always trips me out is how the moon appears bigger on the horizon, even though it is smaller than when it is high in the night sky.
