After WW2, Kosovo had a popuation of 400 000 , where 50% were Serbs and 50% Albanians. Now Kosovo has 2 million and 90% Albanian population

Serbia in WW1 lost a lot of people. I read somewhere like 30% of all fighting men died. Serbia in WW2 also lost a lot of people, and its infrastructure collapsed. After WW2, rebuilding efforts invited a need for migrant workers, and the couple years Tito was cool with the Hoxha regime they negotiated a transfer of workers from Albania. At this point Kosovo always had Albanians but there were a minority.
Long story short all these new families in Yugoslavia started repopulating like crazy because they were used to 1950s communist Albania which was basically North Korea-tier Stalinist dictatorship and quality of life was extremely bad. There was also more freedom of religion in Yugoslavia which is why the Albanians who have lived there have radicalized, there was no pressure from the state to shut down all mosques or shave off beards like in Albania proper.
The regions where the Kosovars and Serbs worked were shitty and underdeveloped, the worst parts of Yugoslavia, giant ghettoes with no sewage systems. Because the Albanians were not Slavic they stuck to their own kind and formed nationalist groups, while Serbs gradually started moving out of the region by the late 60s as they got more middle-class.
Two ethnic groups speaking alien tongues, this is bound to cause friction and Albanian nationalists took turns shooting a Serb or two. The Serbs naturally fired back but by the time Milosevic was in power, the Serbs were already in the advantageous position. Now was the time to root out these traitorous aliens.
But he failed and now Kosovo is in the hands of the Albanians who fought for it. And the wounded Serbs cry out to their pillows every night, "Kosovo je Srbija!", defeated, broken, empty, and one of their politicians suddenly gives the bird to the Kosovo's government and the crowd is rabbled up again ready for a war that never comes.
And the Albanians celebrate and build on.

There are many theories but from what I've heard, alot of Serbs actually migrated out of Kosovo during the Ottoman conquests and occupation.
Especially after the first Serbian uprising failed, the Ottomans forced out/killed Serbs in Kosovo and settled Albanians there

There, they received cultural,

There are not even close to 2 million people in Kosovo. There were 3 million Albanians in Albania, and somehow it resulted in 5 million diaspora over the world, 700 000 in FYROM, 2 million in Kosovo and 3 in Albania.

Serbs, fearing persecution, migrated to the north, after the Austro-Turkish war in 1689...lot of Kosovo's territory became desolate, so Turks settled it with Albanian muslik highlanders. Serbs are in some way guilty of losing Kosovo, but life there was unbearable to be honest

but that's what they did. only after we liberated those lands we settled back our people there
