Tsunderes

Do you understand how to tell the difference between good ones and bad ones, Sup Forums?

A simple list of questions to consider when assessing a tsundere:

Does the person they're tsun towards actively do things to deserve it like taunting or purposefully groping her?
Does the cast acknowledge that she has temper problems and that they're an actual issue?
Does her personality ever earn her the ire of someone who's not eventually portrayed as being a bad person or in the wrong?
Is her hitting the one she likes an uncommon or nonexistent occurence?
If not, can she fight back against villains as well without needing the MC to save her?
Can she thank and apologize to others honestly?
Does her dere consist of more than the usual stock phrases and clichés?
Is there no other girl in the series who seems to be more closely connected to the MC (such as childhood friends, girls who have devoted their life to him, girls who have nothing but him to depend on, etc) than the tsundere?

For each Yes, the tsundere becomes better. For each No, she becomes worse and more generic.

Good Tsundere:
1.) Gradual and continuous character growth
2.) Mature at the end of the show
3.) Characterization has depth
4.) Not Mary Sue
5.) Tsun-tsun to dere-dere is progressive, not discrete on-offs
6.) Has a good reason to be a tsundere.

Bad Tsundere:
1.) No character development
2.) Still immature by the end of the story
3.) 1 dimensional, lacking any interesting traits. Only stereotypical Tsundere traits.
4.) Mary Sue
5.) Is tsun-tsun or dere-dere for completely arbitrary reasons. Comedy relief.
6.) Always a tsundere for no goddamned reason

This trope is a crutch for bad writers. They make this fake personality which never exists in the real world. Because writing actual relationships and love interests into a show is hard.

Sakura is't a tsundere period so don't mock tsunderes by adding that cunt

Since this thread is guarnteedreplies.jpg ill just drop this here and come back once its 300+ posts.

Are you retarded?

Analyzing Rin according to this list:

>Does the person they're tsun towards actively do things to deserve it like taunting or purposefully groping her?
Shirou likes to banter and make little jabs at her, so yes. His sheer denseness justifies it too.
>Does the cast acknowledge that she has temper problems and that they're an actual issue?
Shirou, Archer and Sakura among others note that it's a flaw of hers, so yes.
>Does her personality ever earn her the ire of someone who's not eventually portrayed as being a bad person or in the wrong?
This one's a definite no. Shirou gets legitimately angry at her for a moment in HF, but he quickly lets it slide. Other than that, people who take issue with her are pretty much vilified for it. Even when Sakura raises legitimate points about Rin having been awful to her, she's brushed off and ends up blaming herself for everything in the end.
>Is her hitting the one she likes an uncommon or nonexistent occurence?
Yes, outside of F/HA, at least.
>If not, can she fight back against villains as well without needing the MC to save her?
Usually yes, but in her own route, no.
>Can she thank and apologize to others honestly?
Yes.
>Does her dere consist of more than the usual stock phrases and clichés?
She's pretty generic in UBW, but she's better elsewhere, so just barely Yes.
>Is there no other girl in the series who seems to be more closely connected to the MC (such as childhood friends, girls who have devoted their life to him, girls who have nothing but him to depend on, etc) than the tsundere?
Sakura says No.

5.5/8

Pretty decent, but has some clear flaws too.

Harima is the best character in this list, the second one is hinagiku

Tsundere are casual tier

tsundere is just a jap word for bipolar-disorder right?

You're massively retarded.

Step the fuck off guys. Taiga doesn't deserve you're retarded criticisms.

thats a bad list

Boy tsundere are the best tsundere

Name a worst thread than these, protip: You can't.

That would be too easy

Here's a shit one

There's no such thing as a good tsundere, you get "decent" or "not a total cunt" at best

I would exchange Chitoge with Ataru in that fucking list. At least the gorilla admitted herself she likes the beansprout and tried activelly to win him. People only remember when she ran away to USA bc she discovered the hajidere doormat also liked him and didn't want to get hurt over the fact, but managed to confess thanks to the calling out of the overly attached yandere Marika

Ataru NEVER said to himself he loved Lum and most of his actions towards her were pretty ambiguous with the sole exceptions of the Christmas episode, the ep. 44 and the epilogue movie. He remained majorly tsun the entire run of the series. People praise him bc he was one of the 1st male tsundere, but in reality, he was badly developed in the tsun ---> dere part.

Because she was never a tsundere to begin with. Just a woman who never got over the death of her platonic love and started to bond with Hikaru only because they were grieving over unrequited loves.

this and genki
fuck genki

Pretty solid set of criteria, as is

...

>implying implications

Those last two should be switched around DESU

Misaka Mikoto:
>Does the person they're tsun towards actively do things to deserve it like taunting or purposefully groping her?
Touma banters with her because she is an ojou and thinks she is hot shit, otherwise he's pretty cordial with her. Indeed, she exchanges banter as well, so she can take it. He never gropes her since he thinks she's just a kid. No
>Does the cast acknowledge that she has temper problems and that they're an actual issue?
Yes, mostly because her powers causes blackouts.
>Does her personality ever earn her the ire of someone who's not eventually portrayed as being a bad person or in the wrong?
Yes, from her so-called best friend and the one who is most obsessed with her.
>Is her hitting the one she likes an uncommon or nonexistent occurence?
Hitting with electricity? No, because she thinks he can take it because of his power.
>If not, can she fight back against villains as well without needing the MC to save her?
Sometimes, yes, in her own manga, barring the fact that he saved her twice there as well.
>Can she thank and apologize to others honestly?
Yes
>Does her dere consist of more than the usual stock phrases and clichés?
Yes
>Is there no other girl in the series who seems to be more closely connected to the MC (such as childhood friends, girls who have devoted their life to him, girls who have nothing but him to depend on, etc) than the tsundere?
Yes, she has a complex about it, thinking that if he had a list of names that included hers, she'd wish he'd at least stop for a moment to focus on her name above all the others.

6/8 yes. Bretty good, Biribiri.

Tsundere and Genki are just the easiest way to develop a girl's feelings in a manga without making the relationship with MC forced or asspulled. It's harder for mangaka to develop a girl's feelings when the girl is a dandere, kuudere, and is almost imposible if the girl falls into the hajidere stereotype (and worse if the main couple falls into "twice shy" territory) because it's almost 100% sure the interactions will be forced as hell.

tl;dr If the girl is a classical taundere, it's easier for the mangaka to decelop a relationship with MC without making it forced or asspulled.

Touma is shit.

>Good = what I like
>Bad = what I don't like
This is the only universal measurement that's true.

I must say, that ugly-looking amateur chart gets bigger and worse every time I see you rear your ugly head to troll by throwing many popular tsundere that Sup Forums likes under bad in order to make people mad.

tried fixing it for you

You have good and bad completely mixed up. You should fix that.

>badly developed
wat? do you know what kind of anime urusei yatsura is?

A good self-conclusive-and-self-contained-episodes one like Doraemon, Pokemon and Sazae-san. It doesn't have time progression like your typical anime, so, it's actually excusable the lack of progression.

then don't label it 'badly' developed, retard

Narusegawa really is trash.

Is Mai tsundere? I think she has it as a trait rather than following an archetype.

Fuck off
