Global recessions require either global currencies or a dominant economic power/currency. Without the freedom to use what money we choose, centralization of governance is an inevitable process as any communications technologies can just be bought with fiat money and subverted. To me it seems that the best solution is some sort of multi-polar amicable stalemate where we can ratchet down militarism. Cultural leakage and cross pollination will result in cultural convergence given enough time.
