Not seen the new season yet, but seasons 1-4 are pretty great and varied.

One episode can be introspective while not saying a single word, and the next is a monty python skit featuring a samurai

It was a very unsatisfying climax and was resolved in 4 minutes. Felt rushed.

This was so disappointing. I sort of interpreted this as Jack going more delusional and seeing that as what he should become or could be becoming... a monstrous uncaring warrior.
And then it turns out it's some random ghost telling him to kill himself for no apparent reason
