Call Of Justice isn't bad.

Really.

it looks weird with the different shade of red pants.

It really isnt.

it;s boring and ugly as fuck looking. The animation is cheap and ugly as shit.

bump

Is the 2000~ anime the only translated "good" cyborg 009 entry?

It looks like a fucking cutscene from a PS2 game.

No the original 60's series is considered a classic.

The 70's version is universally loved and is considered one of the all time greats.

the movie from the 80's is generally well liked

the series from the 00's was great.

the 2012 movie is garbage

the 2014 crossover with Devilman was pretty damn cool

the 3 Call of Justice films are even shittier than the 2012 movie.

That's Cyborg 009 for ya.

on that note. why do people not like the cg animated astro boy?

ugh I kind of want to get into devilman and cyborg but it feels like ill be playing catch up

>could of
This genuinely triggers me

>tfw we'll never have another Ishinomori mashup like in The Skull Man

>tfw we'll also never have an Ishinomori mashup like in Shimamoto Kazuhiko's Skull Man

devilman is really easy because there is barely any content. Just mostly OVAs. Just gotta get past 39 episodes of the original devilman series which really isn't necessary since the OVAs pretty much reboot the origin. I tend to like the original series though for what it is.

With Cyborg 009. You can easily start with the 00's series since it starts off as an origin story.

...

from the Devilman crossover. I really wish Netflix would just put this out on blu ray already.

You're forgetting the original manga.

There is barely any content in anime format, but there's shit tons in manga.

Series like Cyborg 009 and Devilman are meant to be read.

I have the Japanese bluray for this crossover. It's pretty cool. You get an art booklet, a small booklet concerning the production of the OVA, a soundtrack disk, a special disk containing an interview with Go Nagai, and the main disk which has the OVA.

The manga.

It's Ishinomori's magnus opus.

I know about the manga which are pretty great but I figured since we were talking about anime series, that's what he meant.

Also I didn't bother getting the Japanese Blu Ray for 4 reasons. One I prefer a Region A release because I don't have a region free player. Two I assumed it didn't have subs being a Japanese release. Three it doesn't come with the dub which I don't normally like, but it was pretty fantastic in these OVAs. Four Japanese Blu Rays are always grossly overpriced.

I to this day have never seen it, but I assumed it's an American production it wouldn't be any good. Nicolas Cage as Dr. Tenma is pretty funny in concept.

The last time I bought Japanese Media was the DVD of Mazinkaiser SKL's first episode which came with an SRC figure, so it's not something I do often.

You should probably already know that Cyborg 009 vs Devilman is kinda like a spiritual sequel to that OVA. It shares the same staff, same voice actors, same episode format (3 episodes long). The voice actors even thought they were going to audition for Mazinkaiser SKL 2.

>Two I assumed it didn't have subs
It didn't, but I didn't buy it because I wanted subs. I could easily find the subbed anime anywhere on the net.

>Three it doesn't come with the dub which I don't normally like
Well obviously.

>Four Japanese Blu Rays are always grossly overpriced.
That's pretty much the main reason why I refrained myself from buying more. I paid about 150 US Dollars for the OVA on eBay, and to be honest, I didn't regret my purchase at all given I'm a hardcore Devilman fag, and generally like Cyborg 009.

>150 US Dollars.
Hope it came packed in a Gold platted box.

So, I've always been curious.

Since Cyborg 009 never was conlcluded, do anime shows offer their own OC endings?

>Since Cyborg 009 never was concluded
It was recently. Google God's War by Jo Onodera.

That's nothing.

If it was a full series, I'd easily be paying at least 500 bucks.

cyborg009.wikia.com/wiki/Cyborg_009:_Conclusion_GOD'S_WAR_(2012_Manga)

fuck that

That reminds me, to promote the OVA the Devilman TV series and Cyborg 009 (1979) were given Blu-ray's, both nasty upscales.

he can't keep getting away with this!

I've been wanting to own this for quite a while, but as you can see, it's more than 500 bucks for a 26 episode series.

I was pretty sure Shin Mazinger got a Region A release form Discotek, though I understand it wouldn't be as valuable as the JP version.
I still haven't seen Shin Mazinger, In fact I've barely seen any Dynamic Pro anime, I just read the manga's and feel empty inside since they feel so incomplete.

>Tfw still no release of OG Cyborg 009 series

>I was pretty sure Shin Mazinger got a Region A release form Discotek,
The release is DVD only, and it doesn't have any of the extra stuff. I bought the English premium edition of Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera for example because it came with a hardcover booklet that had interviews from the staff. If it was just the bluray, I wouldn't be interested.

>I just read the manga's and feel empty inside since they feel so incomplete.
Nagai's Mazinger is incomplete without Great Mazinger, so you have to read that.

Will we ever get Cyborg 009 dvd/blu ray releases?

first porn now this

I think the rights for 2001 are tied up with Sony, they don't give two shits (we never got subtitled versions of Astro Boy 2003 either.) 1979 is from Toei and they don't care for nips much less gaijin. The 60's movies and TV are probably just too old for anyone to care.

I only have one question. Do 009 and 003 finally end up together or did I get trolled for the last 20 years?

Read the controversy section of

It says that there was some fan outcry because of the introduced love triangle with 009, and that in the light novel 003 apparently had sex some with guy.
While both of those are pretty annoying it doesn't actually say there how their relationship ended. I can overlook all the infidelity crap as long as they ended up together in the end. Would an user who's finished it spoil this bit for me?

I don't they ever did.

>Another controversial point was that the light novel adaptation used a framing device in each volume that chronicled Ishinomori's failing health as he struggled to figure out a way to end the manga, culminating in him passing away in the prologue to the third and final volume.
God fuck, how could you even think about doing that to your dad's memory, much less his life's work.

Jesus christ dude.

Well I guess I'm never going to finish it then. Truly a shame, it used to be one og my favorites. It kind of feels like the son was intentionally trying to ruin his fathers lifes work. Or he was pissed off that finishing his fathers lifes work had become HIS lifes work?

The Wiki page mentions Ishi's younger son being a producer at IshiPro, not sure what he would have wanted but there's no way for us to no their whole family dynamic.
It's not too uncommon for children of artists to shit all over their parents legacy, look at Orson Welles's daughter.

Also, they didn't contact Kazuhiko Shimamoto for God's War, who Ishinomori personally designated for the Skull Man Reboot.

Shimamoto himself was kinda displeased with that decision.

>there may never be a good enough ending for Cyborg 009

I thought it was kinda cool, and was surprised by how much I liked the at direction.

What about 009-1?

I masturbated to Mylene Hoffman many times

>Ishonomori Productions strangling the license so that no-one ever reprints the manga
