Aside from Turn A, there hasn't been a single good AU Gundam show

Aside from Turn A, there hasn't been a single good AU Gundam show.

Why can't they make good AU Gundam shows?

Greco

...

SEED, IBO, G, AGE, 00 season 2, GBF and WING all are terrible anime. Only people who like them, are the ones that started watching anime, when those shows were first airing. Those people are unable to look at their first Gundam shows, from a critical perspective.

What about men who just watch all Gundam regardless?

>GBF
>G
Fuck off faggot.

GBF S1 was pretty solid

>aside from Turn A, there hasn't been a single good AU Gundam show.
>G isn't good
You really need to fuck off back to wherever you came from.

G was shit.
>Let's take one of the best real robot war drama.
>And turn it into a shitty super robot fighting tournament.

Uraki is the best gundam mc.

Turning a real robot war drama into a super robot series is part of what made it interesting though, and its not like changed the direction of the franchise. It was a one-off with a new concept that executed it well. I'd much rather have that than an AU that fails at being a war drama like seed destiny.

The one from 0083? He was shit.

Gato was the best boy tho.

You what mate?

You misspelled Uso

s-shut up

Nigger if it's AU why not take full advantage of that instead of just aping UC but not being UC like SEED did? When AU's try to imitate UC they always come up short.

thats a true fan i guess. i can't stand non-UC stuff really. i can stomach some of them but not for very long. Tried IBO dropped it after 6 ep because of disappointment

ZZ, F91, and Unicorn suck
0083 is a snorefest
GReco is 200 episodes of shit condensed into a 4th the size
SEED is a masterpiece

>ZZ, F91, and Unicorn suck
Agreed
>0083 is a snorefest
Yup
>GReco is 200 episodes of shit condensed into a 4th the size
huh?
>SEED is a masterpiece
Fuck off faggot

>GReco is 200 episodes of shit condensed into a 4th the size
Nigger if it was 1/4 it'd be 50 episodes, G-Reco was 26. Also I think that 40something-50 episodes would have been enough for it.

>putting ZZ and F91 in the same tier as Unicorn

>it's not the same as the rest of the franchise
And?

UC is best watched in super-chronological order. It makes it feel like a one long war drama with a proper start and a finish (some of the side stories like 0083 become better, if they are a part of the ongoing story).

What's with the Unicorn hate lately? It's like I'm on /m/.

We can all agree that F91 suit design is top tier though right?

Nothing beats the original Zakus, but they were pretty slick.

Man, i wish F91 would have been at least a 12 episode show. It had potential, but it was rushed as all hell.

The F91 itself is still one of my favorite Gundam designs of all time. The mooks are all fucking excellent though, been meaning to get a kit of one of them but they're all old as shit.

Plot and characters were retarded. Music was fucking great though, though I am a sucker for Sawano.

Aside from 0079, there haven't been any good UC gundam shows

I disagree. I watched UC in chronological order and while it worked for 0080 and 08th MS, I felt I should've waited until after Zeta to see 0083.

>tfw Banrise doesn't care about late UC

Yeah but not everything needs to be Zeta, you know? I'm perfectly fine with a show focusing on cool mech designs and fight scenes with high production values.

I honestly think late UC will be either completely disregarded or even retconned as being AU soon, trying to make sense of F91 after a mere 20 or so years after Unicorn is ridiculous.

Unicorn was a mixed bag for me. I didn't like how they had to give characters edgy backstories (That one got raped her whole childhood, and this one was a abused, and became a male hooker). That kind of shit does not work in gundam. War is scary enough, we dont need crap like that to make it darker. Also, the mech battles got old, real fast. Too flashy and too many gimmicks.
But what i did like about it was Brigh Noah. He was all grown up, and the scene where he gives a motivational speech to the mc, instead of punching him, was really sweet. Also, the scene where the old guy and the mc bonded in the desert (the one where mc heard about the horrors of war, and started to cry).
Unicorn is an okay action flick, with some brilliant scenes, and some meh scenes.

>I disagree. I watched UC in chronological order and while it worked for 0080 and 08th MS, I felt I should've waited until after Zeta to see 0083.
Did you watch it in the super-chronological order?
Origin > Ms igloo > 0079 Movie 1 > 08th ms team > 0079 Movie 2 > War in pocket > Thunderbolt >0079 Movie 3 > Thunderbolt season 2 (airing) > Stardust memories > Zeta > ZZ >Char's counterattack

Basically, this is the ''Char story'' and the early UC is full. We start out with the start of the earthnoids vs spacenoids war, and Char's childhood, and finish with Char's final fight.

It's good for mechaporn but it was really annoying watch everyone act completely insane even by Gundam standards.
>I'd rather jump out this plane than be with you lol
>I've been extorting money from the world government for 90 years and they never just had me assassinated lmao
>this stone tablet I stole with no evidence is the real original constitution which has no difference apart from one line about space adapted people which didn't even become relative until the 0050's
>that discount Lalah which Banana shared two seconds of eye contact with then formed an emotional bond
>all the ghosts are naked
>lewding a Puru

>I honestly think late UC will be either completely disregarded or even retconned as being AU soon
I fear the same.

>trying to make sense of F91 after a mere 20 or so years after Unicorn is ridiculous
I mean if the revelation at the end was taken seriously it could explain why the Federation military is so weak.

>Also, the mech battles got old, real fast. Too flashy and too many gimmicks.
Nigger it consistently had great grunt vs grunt fights, they just didn't take a shot and blow up but you actually got to appreciate them fighting for their lives trying to survive.

>Unicorn is apparently bad
>Turn-A is apparently great

What

and I'm guessing I'm the only one who liked Thunderbolt too

I liked all 3 of them user.

Thunderbolt wasn't made when I watched it, I went:
0079 > 0080 > 08th MS > 0083 > Zeta > ZZ > CCA
I think as a general rule of thumb production order is most things should be watched.

The final fight with Full Frontal was funny to me. I mean, how many weapons does his suit hold?

>director wanted them to actually travel through time
>had to be talked down into just making it a psychic thing

You mean they didn't timetravel? I mean they vanished and suddenly came back.

I disagree. G Gundam was great. It gets criticized for not being a 'serious war drama' but the show knew what it wanted to be and was good at it.

A lot of series in Gundam try to be serious war dramas and fail miserably.

The only AUs I disliked were Seed, Destiny,AGE and IBO

>I think as a general rule of thumb production order is most things should be watched.
No. I hate that rule. There is something so satisfying about chronology.
>Origin sets up everything for 0079 (including, making the characters more fleshed out, so you care about them, when you watch the 0079 movies).
>0079 movie 1 ends with Gihren's speech.
>First episode of 08th ms team, has the characters listening to the speech.
>0079 movie 1 ends with Zeon loosing the battle at A Baoa Qu.
>First episode of 0083 starts with Zeon loosing at A Baoa Qu, making a counterattack and being the reason for forming the titans.
>Then Zeta happens.
>And all the while, we have a nice story about Char's life.

I love it when all the pieces fall to place.

No they just had a newtype drugtrip.

Thunderbolt is still my favorite

Good. Time travel is the last thing gudam needs.
