There is an achievable form of communism: death. No violence no class no oppression. Think about it. And it's not just a facile comparison. The closer you get to your utopia, practically, the more you dismantle the connections and motivating forces in life. This is why the most honest forms of left always speak in terms of dismantling, deconstructing, criticism. Any positive project is not honestly leftist, that's why to the extent they're capable of achieving those projects, they become less honestly leftist (see Soviet union, not real communism). There is real communism, it's just purely destructive so it leaves no trace if it's successful.

I don't think millenials want true communism, but they want parts of it. The main tenate of communism is equality, but there are different kinds of equality.
I am personally very infavor of equality of opportunity, but somewhat against equality of outcomes.
I think millenials just sense that our current system is out of balance, and we need to adopt at least some ideals of communism to even things back out.

Communism is unachievable until humanity is nearly eradicated or completely enslaved, that is what it boils down to. The only way it is able to work is if the populace is absolutely uniform (ie when AI has taken over and people no longer exist or exist only in administrative roles).
