the workforce is not going to disappear. What they are afraid is a slowing down of economic growth, and that's makes paying back the endless debts and the infinite welfare state more difficult. That and rising worker wages that have to be brought down.

Or, just to play devils advocate here, it is because our entire social welfare system (pensions included) is built upon exponential growth.
As for Germany currently our pensions at max would give you the equivalent of 950€ in 2030.
I.e. if you earn really really good now (6000+€ per month before taxes) you get around 1300€ pension at 2030.
With inflation at the mean of the past 10 years this would be worth around 950€ as of today.
Or in other words, you´d be under the minimal income of around 1000€.
A decent small apartment already costs around 500-600€ with heating included, as of today and rising actually.... so we got a tiny problem here on its own.
Even without any other shit, it would hit the fan as soon as people see elderly people starve on the streets cause why the fuck would you work your ass off for that future?
And then it only sprials down from there, less people working, less tax income, less pension etc.

No, it's exactly the opposite. The socialist government of Germany is importing unintegratable migrants and puts them on welfare. The migrants will form minority voting bloc, vote for socialist politicians and sway the elections, allowing the parasitic ruling elite to extract remaining resources from diminishing German workforce.
