strawpoll.me/12914221

God Tier:
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke

Great Tier:
Kiki's Delivery Service
Porco Rosso
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro

Good Tier:
My Neighbour Totoro
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

Looks Great But is Shit Tier:
Howl's Moving Castle
Ponyo
The Wind Rises

Spirited Away > Laputa > Lupin > Mononoke > Kiki > Porco Rosso

Mononoke > Spirited Away > Nausicaa > Cagliostro > Laputa > Wind Rises > Porco Rosso > Totoro > Howl > Ponyo > Kiki

Castle of Cagliostro.
I have not seen all his films so I won't rank them.

Mononoke > Kiki > Spirited Away > Lupin > Totoro > Howl

Haven't watched the rest.

I'd put Wind Rises in Good Tier but other than that it's pretty accurate

Haven't seen Lupin III though

My personal favorite will always be Kiki, but I think that Spirited Away and Mononokehime are his most accomplished works as a director.

GTFO tripfag.
Who cares about your opinion.
You're a fag

What don't you like about Kiki?

I do like it. Just not as much as Miyazaki's other movies.

To put it below Ponyo would be a scathing condemnation for many. I respect your opinion.

You know on second thought, I did like Kiki more than Ponyo.

Probably Spirited Away, with Mononoke just behind it. I also really enjoyed Ponyo, but I wouldn't put it as one of his best works.
Didn't really care for The Wind Rises though. Same with Nausicaa

Mononoke is my fav for sure, I actually rewatched it the other day. Not sure if I can rank them all tho.

I've never watched any Miyazaki's movies in my whole life and I don't intend to watch any of it.
I don't watch kiddie show you know.

I love Makoto Shinkai's stuff though.

>I don't watch kiddie show you know.
>I love Makoto Shinkai's stuff though.
hahahahahahahahahaha

Kiki isn't just my favorite Miyazaki movie, its my favorite movie period. It's message resonated with me more than any of his other works and also I like cute witch girls

>kiddie show

Objectively? Sen to Chihiro probably
Subjectively? My childhood favorite is Laputa, my adulthood favorite is Porco Rosso.

Porco Rosso
>old Italian setting
>that MC with a weird unexplained curse
>villain that fights hard, lost and yet becomes successful in the epilogue
>those goofy pirates
>that afterlife scene
>finale dogfight ended in a fistfight
>that kissu
>that ambiguous ending
How could that old dog Miyazaki created such perfection?

He wanted to make a film for tired salarymen to enjoy. Makes sense that it's the favorite Miyazaki for a lot of Sup Forums.

Perfection tier:
Porco Rosso
Spirited Away

Great Tier:
Kiki's Delivery Service
Laputa
Totoro
Nausicaa

Alright tier:
Howl's moving castle
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro

I fucking hate human beans tier:
Ponyo
Princess Mononoke

Haven't seen yet tier:
The Wind Rises

miyazaki gets all the fame, but Takahata makes a fair chunk of the top ghibli stuff.
miyazaki is too tied down in his little world to see his own limitations, hes easily the best director but his movies arent as interesting.
kaguya and fireflies are better than anything miyazaki directed by miles

It's Nausicaa you fucking children

Miyazaki is the beating heart of the studio and leaves his mark on every movie they put out

>fireflies
it's shit

I always loved Nausicaa, until I read the manga and realized what could've been.

Now the one I hold in highest regard is either Spirited Away or Totoro.

an interesting point, i suppose nothing gets past him without at least a fair amount of input, that being said these movies are undoubtedly Takahata's creation and vision for the most part.
eat a dick faggot

My Neighbor Totoro > Kiki's Delivery Service > Future Boy Conan > Spirited Away > The Wind Rises > Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro > Princess Mononoke > Laputa: Castle in the Sky > Porco Rosso > Ponyo > Nausicaa > Howl's Moving Castle

Takahata is better though

well I guess he didn't have any input on earth sea and with kaguya it's hard to tell since the style is completely different
imo whisper of the heart is the best ghibli movie and Miyazaki only wrote that
too bad Kondo isn't around anymore

earthsea is so damn bad, im not sure if its the direction or the source material, maybe there was no saving it.
if i remember correctly kaguya was made mostly after miyazakis retirement, im sure he would have had a few thoughts in its production period, but probably nothing more than constructive criticism and advice.

I think Takahata had more of an inlfuence on Miyazaki's movies.

You forgot Grave of the Fireflies baka

Whisper of the Heart desu.

> Miyazaki

not anime, and the man is senile as fuck

I'd probably pick Nausicaa for the best one, but I think that's highly debatable.

Howl's Moving Castle is DEFINITELY the weakest one though.

Spirited away was the first anime I saw not counting watching dubbed pokemon and yugioh

Then Pokemon and Yugioh were your first anime.

And one of the few times that the dub is better than the sub.

The english version adds a lot of background chatter that makes the film seem alive. The original japanese version was too quiet.

I think Kaguya was made mostly concurently with The Wind Rises but Kaguya lagged behind a bit. The plan was originally to release both at once.

>not anime
Is thare a certain amount of panty shots and people falling ontop of twelve year old girls before an animation qualifies as anime?
is that what miyazaki ment by this? is he saying he doesn't make anime?
he didn't hit the quota and hes salty as fuck.

>Mononoke in the lead
As it should be. Most people think Spirited Away is Miyazaki's masterpiece, but I seriously believe Mononoke will always be the greatest movie Miyazaki has ever made.

didn't kaguya take 10 years or something to finish
also there is a ghibli documentary about the 2 movies being made at the same time

It is true, though. Miyazaki disassociates himself from Japanese animation.

For a country that preaches the value of the next generation as well, he's horribly scathing to new animators.

1. Totoro
2. Spirited away
3. Wind rises
4. porco rosso
5. castle in the sky
7. howl's moving castle
8. princess mononoke
9. lupin III
10. kiki
11. ponyo
12. nasuicaa

I like 1-8, 9-12 are shit

Miyazaki should have moved to Gaijin Disneyland and made his gaijin cartoons there.

Get out.

Fuck off newfag.

Can we count Shin Godzilla since he appeared as a cameo?

no u

>calling Cagliostro and Nausicaa shit
OK, fuck you.

You first samefag.

He cameo'd in Shin Godzilla?

Yeah as one of the researchers

>only me and one other votes for The Wind Rises
god dammit Sup Forums

Not my fault you have SHIT TASTE

1. nausica
1. mononoke (it's a tie)
2. castle in the sky
3. kiki's delivery
4. spirited away
5. wind rises
6.howl's castle
7. lupin
8. totoro
9. ponyo
10. pork

I just wish that the animation in monoke and nausica looked less 80's and more like early/mid 2000's animation.
I don't care for THICC lines.

Laputa

...

Mononoke best because it's more than just scenery porn and a cute kid doing cute things.

Porco is really Miyazaki's magnum opus.

good taste

Porco is probably in my all time favorite movies, but the beautiful work and amazing score really makes Mononoke head and shoulders above it.
