Farm user here. I live on a small farm, well, it used to be a farm, now we just make enough for ourselves and a few of our neighbors who also have around the same land as us. We all trade inbetween each other.
I love animals, but the fact of the matter is, we're meat eaters. We can be vegans, but if you want more out of your body, meat is the way to go. Raising animals to just be food while somewhat sinister is just the world we live in. And I can assure you, if there was a more intelligent and powerful predator than us in the world, they'd be doing the exact same thing, only we'd be the livestock. It's the way of the world.

Yes, but only to humans. I do everything I can to make my animals times good before I slaughter them, but ultimately it's still the same end. I give free food to my local church to supplies to the food to homeless. Help out on Sundays at a local shelter and give blood regularly.

That, and in Scandinavia animal farms are less centralized, meaning that there are more farmers with less animals. This has the effect of the animals being more loved and cared for. I myself had 10 chickens and 4 bulls and 2 horses growing up. Eventually the bulls got too sexually mature and aggressive so we had to bring them to the slaughterhouse. It was over very quickly and they had a joyful life overall. I couldn't bare to take any of the meat home though as I loved them too much. It was sad and definitely had an effect on me, though not life-changing. Viewing it from a less emotional perspective, it made me think more positively of the meat industry in Scandinavia, as they are given a proper and enjoyable life before being slaughtered.
