This series would be 10x better if there was another player in the New world. Preferably one who partook in raids against Nazarick, so he somewhat knows the layout and poses considerable threat.

Well I read the manga sometime ago, well at least the few translated ones and its heavily hinted that He is not the only player and the last episode of the anime makes that hint too as who was controlling helping controll Shalltear

that would be really interesting to have seen animated. really wish the show could get another season

ehm ..... animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-03-10/overlord-tv-anime-gets-2nd-season/.113293 ???

The LN is way far into the story than manga or anime and no such player exists. It's just Ainz steamrolling everybody which is getting fucking boring.

i read all 11 lns, and i like this aspect, crushing trash while still being cautious of possible danger like a normal player would play

I think Albedo's secret deathsquads would have found another player by now if there was one.

there is that heterochromatic scythe chick who is said to be strong, (a player decedent if i recall), but they haven't fought yet

>Shonenfag
Fuck off, faggot, this series isn't for you

if the next chapter is theocracy then we may finally see her, if it was not a ploy, she may even have been the one who killed ainz

well theres a chance of season 2 holding out a story where one of his guild members avatars are in that world as leaders but they arent actually controlled by the player who made it. so ainz has to go through the hardship of killing his comrade while his lackies scream in horror of their fallen masters.

or well that would be a lil too cliché.. idk , we will have to see!

its really hard to get stories like this where there is someone who is the strongest being in the world and doesn't have equally strong opponent comming out of nowhere for the sake of story, only 2 that come to mind are overlord & code geass at the end

>there's a chance of season 2 being completely anime original

I certainly hope not.

Golgo13, Dr Slump, Sakamoto, Gon, Maoyu, Hellsing, OPM, You're Under Arrest, Tonnura-san, Hale+Guu, Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

>Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai
I don't recall anyone being the strongest there.

She'll knock you out in one hit.

>implying the Dark Flame Master isn't the strongest
youtube.com/watch?v=vBXAAVkBOyY

needs more blood spilling

You forgot to add Saitama

He would get stomped easily. You would an entire guild for it to be a threat.

Even the strongest warriors would be in troubled in ganked in 1vs2 (barring Touch Me, since he was a fucking Mary Sue), and if you add more beings of equal level, the defeat is nothing but certain.

Ainz can spam level 80-90 min/maxed mercenaries if he wants to and drown the world with them using his treasury.

>OPM

the elf king seemed like he might be another player

Its highly expected something like that eventually happen, but not in the current saga. So proly volumes 20+

>threat
The genre is usually Mary Sue: Sandbox Edition so I wouldn't hold your breath

considering how happy cocytus was to finaly getting his fighting seen in the manga special that announced season 2 i highly doubt it.

Together with the whole 2 recap movies that set certain things straight in order to make it closer follow the LN. It would be pretty stupid to then full go on anime origina in season 2.

Problem is you're expecting a story about evil lich fighting the heroes for world dominance.
When the story is actually about Papa Bones and his kindergarten.

No it wouldn't. There doesn't need to be a threat for it to be interesting. That's not where the focus lies.

The problem with that would be that you get a pointless world caught between the battle of 2 godlike beings. So every characterisation or worldbuilding would go down the drain instantly.

But that isnt what Overlord is. Its about the NW dealing with a incomprehensible powerfull Man , aswell as about those people that meet Ainz and how it changed their life forever.
Its faszinating to see the world reacting to Ainz.

Some fall into despair, other see the benefits and work with him. While at the same time having the contrast of how the denizens of Nazerick behave towards outsiders and insiders.

This guy raids Nazarick, how long will he last?

Nah, that would ruin the story.

We already have a shitload of battle shounen everywhere.

Not every challenge has to be physical combat. I'll be perfectly happy if Ainz never meets a single entity capable of challenging Nazarick in combat.

Overlord is a story about a guy trying to build an utopia and how the world reacts to him. Any challenges Ainz faces should come from him not being able to or not wanting to use violence or brute force to solve them. Sadly, I don't think this author is good enough to really pull that off, but what he's got going now is good enough.

His powers aren't fully revealed yet in the LN, but overall, him MMO seems less over the top than Overlord's MMO.

Is he calcium enriched?

The best part of Overlord is the politics, not the fighting.

>Two godlike beings
>Worldbuilding and characterization goes down the drain
Did you got retard? Two godlike beings trying to out keikaku each other would just increase characterization and worldbuilding.

>and its heavily hinted that He is not the only player and the last episode of the anime makes that hint too as who was controlling helping controll Shalltear

Those players are already dead. The story mentions two groups of players from ancient history, the gods worshiped by the Theocracy and the Greed Kings. Shaltear was hit with a piece of the "gods" left over equipment.

He will die at the first floor to Shalltear.

Which means the K-on or Kirito-fags won't like it.

Her gank squad was only just formed and really only looking for former Nazarick players to murk them since she's still pissed they abandoned them and thinks the other guardians will turn against ainz if they come back.

So I've been recently rereading vol 1. Was Ainz just asleep during the switch? Like was Nazarick there for 700+ years and Ainz slepped on his throne the whole time but the rest of the tomb was active? For some reason a lot of little things seem to make sense about what the NPCS say and how they act if you think like that.

>undead winning against a pally

>undead winning against a pally

Shalltear IS a pally. An unholy paladin.

As the other LNfags mentioned theres no such thing. If another player appears he'll be a villain asspull to be beaten at the end as a story close. Ultimately, Overlord is just overpowered self insert and there isn't really anything big going behind the curtains of the plot.

>Vampire has holy spells
What is this bullshit?

Not really ? Only thing NPC have is a vague recollection of their previous existence within the game, thats all.

After I read a description on Nazarick it stroke me not as a "challenge" nor "fun" but a boring, frustrating chore.

the part about the elf king in volume 11 makes it sound like he could take on the theocracy army by himself
he's also an elf so he could have been around for hundreds of years

What makes you think that?

They posted in detail how unfair and difficult Nazarick was. If I am a pro player my question would be: why I annoy myself to such an extent in this chore of a task?

No fun in "trololol so hard and cheap" difficulty for me.

Yeah, but why he did then ? Either he isnt as tough or too scared he might get hurt.
Also yeah, the elf part is why my theory says he might be a first gen godkin, so direct child of a player. But not one himself, he sounded too stupid/limited for that.

Spotted the speed reader.

Some people play EVE user.
It appeals to a certain type.

Masochists.

Nah, one of the main themes of Overlord is that Ainz's plans and ambitions are meaningless.

All of Ainz's actions are based on preparing against enemy players that do not actually exist. His motivation to maintain Nazarik is based upon nostalgia for his old teammates, who don't give a shit about Nazarik anymore and would prefer for him to move on with his life instead. There's only one person he could be doing all this stuff for -- himself. Yet ironically this same selfish quest makes him miserable and he would be far happier and more fulfilled if he gave up on it. The whole series is a tragic self-created conflict that Ainz could solve if he ever introspected on it and learned to finally let it go.

It's the reason why there's only one conflict that makes sense in this series: Ainz VS Nazarik itself. This battle is already fought metaphorically every volume, but by the end of the series I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a literal and physical fight. After all, no other viable enemy exists in this world. This is a lesson that Ainz re-learns every volume, despite wishing with all his strength it wasn't so.

Good post.
It's basically the man trying to keep up the appearance of being the monster in charge of monsters. Which is slowly turning him into one of them. Notice how stressed he is, he is effectively a god but only for Hells bureaucracy.

Plots and character interaction in Nazarick is the best part of the series IMO.

>Either he isnt as tough or too scared he might get hurt.
he doesnt seem to care what happens to his kingdom
and the strongest godkin in the theocracy is supposedly his child

I don't know that guy, whats he from?

>what are dark paladins
in b4 that's fucking stupid

is this just a theory or has it been proven?
Do you think he is gonna off himself as the conclusion?

He's already prepping up to pretend dying in the LN

Overlord is less about being an overpowerd MC and rather its about taking over the world by a series of misunderstandings, bluffs, and sheer luck. ainz doesnt even have to lift a boney finger, as that is literally all it would take to kill everything. the new world just presets its bare ass to ainz as a nuclear deterant

Was said she is cleric and cursed knight combo primarily. It just seems there were no race/class taboos in Ygg.

No what I mean is, as soon as Ainz closes his eyes, the tomb gets moved, and nothing happens for 700 years while all that BS is happening in NW. Until one day Ainz just wakes up. Aura and Cocytus mention how bored they are. And a few of them put a lot of emphasis on how Ainz is the one who stayed behind with them. Some to a frightening level get upset about that. I know if I had 700 years of a abandonment issued I'd be like that too.

Best girl

Still nope, it was an instant. As for the rest, that would be because even withtin the game, Ainz was only one left still playing, and he maintained Nazarick alone for last few years of the game.

>Two godlike beings trying to out keikaku each other would just increase characterization and worldbuilding.
Except Ainz isn't an actual keikaku master and would just brute force the opponent to death in an all out war.

I think I'm right. I mean, it has no real bearing on the story, but I believe the tomb was awake while he slept.

>not wanting your mc to curbstomp everyone and not just go around conquering the world from start because he has enough power and resources to do so just to drag the story along
This isn't for you

Nope, otherwise Aura and Mare would grow older than just remain as 70-ish years old.

And then what?
What's the point of conquering the world if you are already powerful enough to do whatever the fuck you want or force any individual to do your bidding?
What does Ainz possibly have to gain from becoming the official undead Godking of all of creation?

No not really. Look at Dragonball they are at a point where their surrounding got irrelevant the only thing what matter is who is stronger.

there is no out keikaku even less so the world will not matter anymore only what happens between both side the rest are casualtys trapped between 2 forces they cant oppose at all.

>takes damage after falling off a tree
He would get rekt on 1st floor.

its not about conquering the world. its about HOW he does it. its the journey not the destination. its a very gap-moe anime. its about a spooky skeleton god of death taking over the world, but at the same time hes just a jap salaryman wanting to take care of his old friend's children and be a happy famury

To what end?

>albedostrueformisapenguin.jpg

Albedo's thiccness is just perfect

Then you start day dreaming you are him and fap to some girl in the plot with your tiny dick
This is the anime equivalent to cuck porn

>This series would be 10x better if there was another player in the New world
This is possible with the info from the movie pamphlet. Though we'll see what happens.

>What does Ainz possibly have to gain from becoming the official undead Godking of all of creation?
Bragging rights.

Not really. Far as we know the NPCS are immortal while in the tomb. Or those rings stop them from aging.

Don't worry. Climb will take care of that evil lich.

>This is the anime equivalent to cuck porn
That makes no sense.

>Climb memeing
Adorable

>This is the anime equivalent to cuck porn
There are other isekais more fitting for that.

>So proly volumes 20+
Overlord is slated to end at, I think, volume 18.

That dog will never get anywhere on his leash.

>Not really. Far as we know the NPCS are immortal while in the tomb. Or those rings stop them from aging.
They are aging, doesn't matter if inside Nazarick or not, hell author even said that Aura is going to grow into a boing boing bombshell.
Whether twins can actually die of old age is up for debate since it was never actually talked about.

>hell author even said that Aura is going to grow into a boing boing bombshell.

>girl
With a horse cock

Well enough time hasn't gone by to test this. So you're wrong until then.

Poor Shalltear.
You said 700 hundred years, that's about the time elves die of old age if I'm remembering Author's words right. Maybe it was 500 or 600 years..

Honestly think Mare doesn't have underwear on.

>Poor Shalltear.
She'll never be able to compete.

It's in a sheath. Grower not shower.

Honestly the last volume bore me to death that i stop reading it at chapter 4.

I bet youre an elf

There are confirmed other players coming every hundred years.
Ainz is hundreds of years behinds them and will get BTFO hard atleast once.

18 volumes is a prologue, author even said he's sorry that it's so slow since this is all a setup (ainz making a kingdom and stockpiling resources I guess) that's necessary for the future.

If he is a player he is probably some low level fag.

>18 volumes is a prologue
19

He is already a monster since he didn't give a shit about exterminating the captives from the lol jalbadbatosomething event. I thought he wasn't even aware of the happy farms but he probably is.

He isn't, Demi thinks Ainz saw through his "bipedal sheep" metaphore but he didn't.
