My aunt was convicted of 5 counts of vehicular manslaughter.
She was DWI, pulled off road to give head to husband (both plastered), then when she pulled back on the road, she didn't look and sent a car with a young family (2 parents, 2 kids) into a tree, which caused their immediate deaths. Her husband also died.
She was extremely remorseful, admitted everything right away, pleaded guilty.
Judge gave her a soft sentence. 12 years to be served concurrently. She was out in 4 years with good behaviour.
At 7 years, if she is not an idiot this girl will be out in 3 if that.
BTW: One saving grace, my aunt, filled with guilt, became a raging alcoholic after getting out and an hero'd less then 3 years after getting out.
