Elite assassin since childhood

>elite assassin since childhood
>name feared throughout the kingdom
>gets beat up every single episode and either loses fights or wins by the skin of his teeth

Fuck this fucking piece of shit series. This battle shounen shit is not appropriate for the light hearted harem-esque comedy they're setting up. You don't portray your hero as some amazing genius, then try to be "realistic" by having him job every fight so the audience will take the arc villains seriously. Fuck this garbage so hard.

Your fault for watching a harem in the first place

>someone who sucks at direct combat, but excels at eliminating unprepared targets, loses in a direct combat against people who are good at direct combat
Mystery of the century.

>be assassin that specializes in surprising enemies by neutralizing magic ahead of time
>get shit kicked in by people who surprised you first
Seems normal to me, OP. What did you expect, Kirito?

Shut up.

Shut the fuck up.

I knew you faggots would gobble this shit up like the shit eating bottom feeders you are.

> SO REFRESHING HE'S NOT A GARY STU FOR ONCE XD TOTALLY UNLIKE SAO THIS SHOW IS SO DEEP AND MEANINGFUL
Except every other part of it is still shallow and cliche. All you've done is pointlessly add in fake tension by making a supposedly strong character weak, in a pathetic attempt to set it apart from other shit in the genre.

You want good writing? Actual tension? Then don't rely on cliches at all. Don't make him a harem lead. Don't make it a magic school. Don't make him a famous assassin. Don't rely on stupid shit like that. But if you're going to use them, don't subvert one of them and then call yourself different, because you're not.

It seems to me that you're still missing something, OP. You keep calling him an assassin, but you refuse to acknowledge that assassins perform their tasks through shady methods and subterfuge, not fighting head on like a warrior.

You're splitting hairs. The point was that he was set up to be super elite and dangerous, when he actually isn't. The show intentionally and knowingly pretended that he was going to be this really strong hero, but then made him middling instead. If this were real life, and an elite assassin were getting his shit kicked in, you could argue

>Well, being an assassin doesn't mean you're at dueling.

But this is fiction, and the LN author is subverting a trope on purpose, probably because it makes his tiny dick erect to think he's doing something different.

watch it for the cute girls

So you just assumed that a slightly different MC means the author is a pretentious hipster and you got so mad about this, you decided to throw a tantrum on Sup Forums. Good job.
Then, what's the next step of your master plan?

>Someone whose main method of dealing with magician targets involves negating their ability to use magic entirely before the fight even happens and fistfighting them

>Ambushed and fighting someone of his calibre(If not better), who has already deployed their magic before he negated their magic via The Fool so his only advantage is gone
>said person has a sword(And MC has only fists?)
>Also seems to be backed up by a shooter
>MC is alone

What are you expecting? He was way out of his element and the most important of all, he was ambushed.

What part of
>source: light novel
didn't you understand? Of course it's shit.

It's not an amazing show, but literally all your complaints were very clearly explained. (Assassin not mercenary, mostly worked in a team, etc.)
How hard is it to pay attention and make some proper arguments for your opinion?

>One of he strongest mages in the world
>Did literally nothing since episode 1
Watching people defend her is fun, her looks are the only good thing going for her

Forgot pic

It's fucking bad really. The guy can seal magic and has great martial arts skills but doesn't abuse it because the MC won't encounter "real" conflict when he does.

The LN that does the "MC is a legendary figure" trope well is Blood Sign.

>Source: Light novel
>Genres: Action, Magic, Fantasy, School
If you're a newfag, hopefully you learned your lesson. You'll learn to spot and avoid the shitty light novel adaptions in no time.
Otherwise you deserve every minute you wasted.

You are dumb. An assassin isn't supposed to fight head on, one-on-one. It's like complaining a sniper is shit with an assault rifle. Of course he is, that's not his job or his specialty.

Wat

You have to be an excellent marksman with standard weapons, like assault rifles, to be considered to become a sniper and then undergo grueling training.

Where is this idea of assassins not being trained well coming from? You can consider most special forces groups assassins considering that's usually the sort of business they do and they're the tippy top of infantry. Even if you just mean like spies or w/e they still belong to top-tier organizations that most can't ever qualify for because they're not smart or able enough.

THIS. This whole "guy is assassin=bonus points only when backstabbing" is some fucked up rpg-logic.

It's like saying the Navy SEALs are actually average soldiers who can succeed only when they get dropped on an unsuspecting enemy in the cover of the night and would lose to a high school kid in daylight.

>watching a battle harem for anything other than the girls

>Where is this idea of assassins not being trained well coming from?

The OP. He brings up a good point, the MC is a hack that gets beat up every single episode. The only way to explain it without "just turn off your brain bro" is that he had inadequate training or he's doing it on purpose for some reason.

Hey, at least he actually does SOMETHING, unlike Celica, who we're supposed to believe is some lvl99 badass sorcerer but there's always some bullshit reason why she can't just nuke the bad guys.

Except navy seals don't have to battle with a loli that can jump buildings and a dude that shoots lasers. Glenn isn't powerful at all, he's just good at cheesing his enemies.

>bullshit reason

When you're the top dog you don't have to do anything. Why work when you can force it on someone else?

With the speed most people cast spells in this universe a black kid could run up to just about anyone and shank them with a knife before they're done speaking

>retard gets told for being retarded
>gets mad
lel

>It's like saying the Navy SEALs are actually average soldiers who can succeed only when they get dropped on an unsuspecting enemy in the cover of the night.

Well, that's actually what SEALs are.
They can suceed without the surprise element, but they are trained to be more successful with covert operations.

>watches a shit adaptation of a shit LN
>gets mad that it is shit

How do you function in your day to day life?

>how dare this battle harem anime not live up to my standards of realism
has autism has gone too far?

...

wtf is even happening in that show? did he not explain how to cut spells extremely short to the students? why can't he do that, which is clearly something nobody ese discovered, himself too?

The typical SEAL has similar intelligence to a marine officer and most marines couldn't withstand the basic BUD/S training, which alone is twice as long as the Marine bootcamp, and then they have an additional 6 month program to actually qualify for the SEALs and then a medical training bootcamp. Claiming that the SEALs are average soldiers is just stupid when most marines just straight up couldn't even finish the training. The physical and mental superiority alone makes them much better combatants than the average infantryman but then you have an extensive training program that beats them over the head with a greater breadth of knowledge on weapons, operations, tactics, survival skills, etc.

The reason why the Marines are seen as one of the most powerful military forces is because the branch basically is another army, navy, and airforce on its own.
