Sup Forums here, just saw Blame!
Did I like it?

I think we don't need a Blame general.

7/10

...

6-7/10 standalone cyber-western

Lack of silicon beings and not enough Sanakan to feel like a genuine condensed BLAME experience though, hopefully netjew fags like it enough to warrant more volumes

It just came out. Shut up

I have no idea about what is the setting, nor who are the characters.
Will i be lost by starting with the netflix movie?

Is it a faithful adaption of the manga? Should I read the manga

No, you did not

Dystopian industrial horror where humanity is scattered and the environment is hostile is the setting, there are no characters.

pretty much this

world felt too populated for me. the art wasn't a good representation of the manga's style (if they even tried -- doesn't look like they did). not really recognizable as BLAME.

as a stand alone piece of entertainment, it was a solid 6.5/10 but probably could have been better.

I knew I hated it. I wanted sum cyborgs.

It's a particular arc (like 5-8 chapters iirc) adapted with a lot of western flair, but relatively faithful

It's like a CGI Vampire Hunter D movie but with robots instead of vampires if you watch it by itself

no, yes but good luck manga is like mad man's murder book

Wait. So killy kun was a demon all along?

It's not an adaptation of the manga.

The manga achieves a unique tone with its art and sparse storytelling style. It does a good job at worldbuilding (heh) and making you interested.

There's an older anime series that does a better job of capturing the weird technological desolation and loneliness of the manga,

It was alright.

I thought it was kinda bad. Withdrawing the scope of the manga made it feel like I wasn't even watching something set in the same world from time to time, and the characters were generally pretty shittily put together so the movie didn't even work within it's smaller scale.

I don't give a shit about all these villagers, I want to see Killy exploring the city.

>There's an older anime series that does a better job of capturing the weird technological desolation and loneliness of the manga,
and it is?

Character stuff is based on Nihei's more recent style but not just imitating SIdonia where everyone still looks like (admittedly moe) potatoes

The ARCHITECTURE shots were plenty, though, and Cibo a tall glass of ration juice

Blame

The three minute shorts collection

You don't seriously think it would have a different name do you

youtube.com/watch?v=RZWf2_2L2v8
this is 3 minutes and has blame
is this it?

...

Post pictures of Cibo she is still best waifu nihei ever drew

It's Machine Code

Wished it wasn't as self contained as it ended up being. A few parts that didn't connect to the immediate story may have made the setting seem more expansive. Other than that, good effort to let both fans and newcomers have a glimpse into the City. Liked the POV switch to the electric fishermen, as it made the story more accessible and set up Killy as a force of nature passing through. Sanakan and Cibo a cute. Both of them had great scenes and presence. Pity they didn't include the builder sized safeguard in the fight and I didn't like that Cibo didn't stick with Killy at the end, the latter of which kinda fucks with setting up a proper sequel.

Overall good effort with some nitpicks.

Neat, thanks. I was looking for something shorter and ran into Blame! Prologue, and it was some shitty cgi art project

That is factually incorrect.

I always thought those ration sticks looked and tasted like white chocolate kitkats, but now theyre more like canned bread?

Sanakan is far better.

Those who hadn't read the manga or watched the old OVAs beforehand, did you like it?

Makes more sense. I mean, it's suppose to be rations, not a delicacy.

>pissed looking killy
>color
One image and I can tell it's shit.

None of these sluts have as much variation in their bodystyles as Cibo does

but is killy a cyborg too?

it was better than I thought it would be. Killy was retardedly inhuman. Not enough sexy scenery though, that was a high point from the Manga. I'd watch a series if they made it.

I guess they will film the other arcs if this gains some popularity

>Is it a faithful adaption of the manga?

I will never understand why people give a shit about this, especially when they haven't read it in the first place.

safeguard

He's a human who has robotic enhancements that are prototypal of Safeguard designs. He's lived for many thousands of years.

I rather they didn't. Not saying it wasn't good, but reading the manga gives a far more unique experience than what an anime can give us.

Youre such a fag.

He's pre-safeguard and he can choose to save silicon life if he wants to.

>He's a human who has robotic enhancements
So...a cyborg.

so what did cyborgs gain bu fucking over humans? now safeguards attack both humans and cyborgs

Yes. I gave you a specific answer because people who haven't read all of the material will tell you that he's a Safeguard.

Thanks brah

I thought it was interesting. I thought the red shirts were the main characters, and found them all pretty boring.

The fights were cool, but they failed to properly convey a sense of hopelessness which I think the whole thing lacked.

Not bad

Tae was a very strong character. She carried the entire movie.

Did you not watch the movie?

It was clearly stated that there was a glitch in their system that caused them to kill all humabs with out the whatever gene, and only people with that gene can change their programming

...

Was tae the one with 3 lines of dialogue that died? Or the one with 6 lines of dialogue that was killed?

She was the one with the highest kill count.

What was the neck brace he gave her at the end?

There was no glitch. The humans got infected and Safeguards couldn't read their Net Terminal Gene.

It's the movie's reason for why the things didn't attack Killy. Since he's given it to them, they can build a safe settlement now.

The robot lady?

The one that kept falling every time they had to run away.

Stops watchtower from seeing you. He do t really need it anyway.

I never understood that stance, especially with a decent effort like here. An adaption won't invalidate your enjoyment of the source, nor will it make the source disappear. As seen here. It's a different take on the whole fishermen arc, but I thought the portrayal being a powerless little tribe in the City was a cool take on the story, especially the opening sequence was full of tension, as they tried to find some food, while trying to avoid the watchtower. It was a nifty new perspective.

Not correct. Maybe correct in the movie's canon or something, but not actually correct.

Whats with the robo parts on cibo

for most of the manga she was fleshy/soft synthetic, except for the end

but her regular bodies never had clankity clank parts like in the movie

yep cylon infiltrator

Why is the animation so fucking choppy? does it actually look smooth through squinty nip eyes or something. The animation is alright but the choppiness is so distracting

They prefer it that way, and pay people to remove the additional frames.

>couldn't read their Net Terminal Gene
More like the contagion got rid of the gene. The human survivors lack the gene.

in the movie she was a cybernetic human

The movie budget would have cost 4 time as much for 60 fps

Because the manga is all about the atmosphere and scenery porn. The anime just feels too shounen-like to get the right feel of it. It's a good attempt, but it's just not getting the same feel one would get when he read the manga and realize Killy had walked for more than a few thousand years across the solar system.

...

Why did the elctric fish need to wear masks to hide their faces?

>oh shit nigga there is no human with NTG who will give our orders now. Killy, go find us one
>ok boss

24 FPS is a meme that needs to die.

Movie Cibo was just hanging out in the ruins for 2000+ years.

To appear robotic and fool the watchtowers.

at least she suffers in both manga and the movie

>*SpongeBob narrator voice*
3000 years later

THIS ROTTEN CORPSE CAN'T BE THIS CUTE!!

I think it's a decent introduction to the mad trip that the source is.

It would actually look worse at 60. It would make it much more obvious that the models don't have any sense of squash and stretch.

is there a waifu material in this series? The drawing looks Hajime Isayama level of shit

The GBE was pretty underwhelming

Remember that part in the manga where killy blew a hole in the megastructure above and then hollowed out the tower he was standing on with his GBE? First time reading I nearly pissed myself

The holes he blew in the movie where pathetically small even when he shot a level 2 shot

>squash and stretch.
Aren't those animation principles only apply to 2D?

The feel of the movie didnt match the manga's 90s cyberpunk feel.

Killy was also off the deepend of the aspergers scale.

That being said it wasnt too bad, would watch a sequel

why did they have to use cgi? cheaper?

Does bububki buranki or ID-0 do this? They looked fine and if they were removing frames it wasn't noticeable

And you can still get that feeling from the manga. An anime adaption has different advantages. The story and setting are good enough to carry interpretations across different media, all imo of course. If it were done as a tv series, they could even dedicate an episode to one of Killy's walkathons to portray the magnitude and isolation of his journey. There's enough of a possibility that an adaption would bring something interesting to the table, in order to not warrant the denial of an adaption from the getgo.

But hey, neither of us is likely to make that decision, so lets just lean back and see.

What was the stuff Killy injected himself with?

but it is more accurate. for beam to create a 70 km hole, its spread must be minimal. So the initial hole will be smaller

Yeah I though so too. I also thought the beam should have been a different color, maybe white with red edges, and with more knock back.

3s not 2s.

Every 3DCG studio does this.

food/energy

Some energy shit to fill his power bars. I don't remember him doing that in the manga, but it's been years since I read my books.

I have to agree with : 7/10. I wish the music had been more inspired, in particular.

They should make 24-30 with some motion blur.

It looks about 15 fps, I've seen student stomp motion animation that looks less jumpy

reminds me of this
youtube.com/watch?v=U76MBDKQe8s&feature=youtu.be&t=9m46s

guys do you realize this is made with celshading, it would look awkward with 60 fps

>western
Explain this meme.
