What does Sup Forums think of whaling in the North Sea? Should the people of Norway, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands be allowed to continue their traditions of whaling?
I personally believe that it is an outdated tradition that needs to die out. I'm not judging their ancestors, but today there is no reason to go whaling for sustenance as they can simply import food. Furthermore, it is not socially responsible to continue whaling when these animals are at such risk of depopulation. I know it will be hard for the older generations of whalers, but these people need to enter the modern age and realize that whaling is no longer an acceptable practice.
I live on the Earth. People endangering an entire species of animal that lives on this planet with me IS my business. People who care about sustainable practices? Great idea, that way they can hunt whales to extinction by 2050. And that way we can destroy all of the forests on the planet in 100 years too, and use up all of our fossil fuel reserves. Fun fact: Alaskan natives are legally defined as anyone descended from a person who lived there when we bought the place, despite the fact the only ~20% of them were actual natives. The rest were Russian-born hunters and trappers.

That is blatantly untrue and I would like you to provide a single source to back that up. The Russians owned Alaska as a business venture, not as an attempt at largescale colonization. The only Russians that lived there were ones who worked in the trapping business, and the families of the businessmen who ran it. Most of them left after the sale to the United States, and the few remaining Russian-Alaskans almost all left after the Communist Revolution. Not back to Russia, but to other places where they could blend in more easily. The Red Scare was in full force and many of them feared discrimination.

I don't understand what point you're even trying to make anymore. Russia did not conduct any census of how many natives were in Alaska because they didn't give a shit. The Russians that arrived to hunt and take part in the fur trade left soon after its sale. The few families that chose to stay almost all left after the Red Scare in the 20s. The natives in Alaska are most certainly not "white." Most Russians in general aren't white anyways. The vast majority of Russia is in Asia, and with the exception of major cities, almost all of the inhabitants east of the Volga are all clearly Asians. Just like the native Alaskans.

None of those countries whale species that are endangered, or to such an extent that they will become endangered, depopulated or extinct.
It's more or less dying out anyway because whale meat collects high levels of lead and dioxins travelling up the food chain, which means that many Faroese, Norwegians and Icelandics avoid it as a choice of health. Food will always be expensive for the Faroes, and whaling doesn't do much to change that in the slight anyway. Nonetheless, these are cultural practices, and I don't see you complaining about Indians polluting their land and throwing corpses into their largest tributary, the Chinese steadily stripping both China and Africa and blanketing themselves in a ozone haze while hunting endangered animals for faux medicine, the South East Asians for massive deforestation, South Americans for the same of their own lands.
Or even Japan for actually whaling on an industrial scale.
