‘The memes are so potent because they are designed to be subversive and to bait their opponents into a reaction’
>Almost a decade ago, Matt Goerzen, a Canadian artist and social scientist, stumbled into the world of subversive internet chatrooms. He was fascinated — and alarmed. Goerzen could see that the anonymity of the internet was enabling a virulently angry, anti-establishment community to emerge on platforms such as “Sup Forums”, where users post under pseudonyms with little or no moderation. And while these groups did not initially seem very political (the message boards were notorious instead for puerile humour and pornography), as the years passed they became infused with an “alt-right” agenda — that of the white nationalist movement. They also became adept at launching online attacks on their opponents, or “trolling”. The artist in Goerzen observed something else: what made the alt-right so influential was that the users were not just using words to communicate their messages, but snappy visual images too. Both Sup Forums and infinite chan, a similar platform, were originally created as “image boards”, focused on pictures rather than text — a format first created in Japan, where they were used to share manga and anime. Alt-right users had become adept at creating visual “memes”, to use the phrase coined by Richard Dawkins, the evolutionary biologist, back in the 1970s, to describe a “unit of cultural transmission” that spread from “mind to mind”.
>"These [white nationalists] are a small group of people,” explains Goerzen, who now works as a researcher at a New York-based project called Data and Society, which studies modern cyberculture and media. “But these groups can deliver an outsized impact because of their ability to push the right buttons to bait the media.” Those memes, in other words, have wings. It is an important point to ponder, particularly given the furore this month in Washington around racist imagery, and the degree to which malevolent political forces (in Russia, for example) have been using social media to discredit and delegitimise political debate. When reports emerged that President Donald Trump hadused the word “shithole” to describe countries such as Haiti or Nigeria, mainstream observers were understandably appalled. But many alt-right message groups were thrilled. “Shithole” is a tag that has circulated in these message groups for a long time, giving birth to a range of memes. “Ha, CNN is actually saying shithole,” crowed one commenter on Sup Forums. Another participant said, amid a stream of cartoons and messages on the subject: “Who wants to colour in the world in five shades of brown?”

Which is better, propaganda that comes from truth, or propaganda that comes from lies? Goebbels said that the truth makes the best propaganda. Although it's not hard to twist the communist method to be more favorable.

Jesus Christ they are so out of touch. Notice how when they said >”When reports emerged that President Donald Trump had used the word “shithole” to describe countries such as Haiti or Nigeria, mainstream observers were understandably appalled.” they never explain WHY observers should be appalled. Just like the wording in “common sense” gun control, it doesn’t actually say anything as if the answer is supposed to be obvious.

The gas chambers are a myth, just like the myth that Nazis made soap out of human fat (from Jewish concentration camp prisoners).
The soap myth began as a rumor in the camps. Soap given to prisoners was embossed with the soap company's initials, which Jews took to stand for "Pure Jewish Fat". That was the only "evidence" they had for the accusation, which was later debunked by historians, but Jews continued to repeat the soap myth well into the 1990s. Such is the power of stories that are believed on faith rather than evidence.
"Holocaust survivors" admit they heard rumors about gas chambers from other Jews before even arriving at a concentration camp. Thus if a Jew lost a loved one during the war, they simply assumed they had gone to the gas chambers. Even after the Allies investigated a camp and determined it was *not* a death camp, inmates still repeated the story because they felt they were doing a good thing for the "victims". Insodoing the myth is reinforced without a shred of truth or evidence.
Gas chambers existed, but were for fumigating clothes and bedding to exterminate Typhus-spreading lice. It was a life-saving measure in all camps (including army barracks with no prisoners). That's why survivors often include details like haircuts & showers (also to eliminate lice). Despite these efforts, typhus (aka "camp fever") resulted in 200k deaths by the end of the war (Red Cross reports). That's why the camps needed crematories. But those deaths weren't planned, in fact the Germans tried to prevent them, and total nowhere near 6,000,000.
You can hear directly from Jews, and learn more about the improbability of the story, why the numbers claimed to have been killed in gas chambers at Auschwitz is scientifically & technically impossible, in the following videos. Watch it & make up your own mind.
They're winning because it's the truth, lady .. but we know you can't say that.
Kevin Gonzalez
Ockham's razor supports holocaust denial. There's literally no evidence supporting anything mass genocide in scale. Every time I see it defended online it's always some cryptic phrases in letters from Hitler or Goebbels using the word "exterminate" but nothing is ever spelt out. It would be like taking "gas the kikes, race war now" seriously. All the alleged deathcamps were behin the iron curtain. I mean for fuck's sake...

Wait, she just drew a direct parallel between Martin Luther upending the Catholic Church and the alt-right.
But that's a good thing, especially to the liberal mind. Why would you make that analogy when you're trying to paint your opponent as a problem?
>if there is any way for people to counter the alt-right memes
Step one, realise you invented the alt-right label and you can't attack your boogeyman because they don't even see themselves as "alt-right".
Step two, the most serious and stuck up loses in a game of comedy. This is why the left dominated comedy up until about a decade ago, because the conservative mainstream still held sway and had a stick up their ass about shit as trivial as making fun of Jesus. Anyone still making fun of Jesus and christians as if they're kicking in doors is a fucking moron (and there are many) and it shows. It's cringeworthy.
So what's the first thing that happens when the balance tips? Fedora memes.

Asher White
>trusting journalists to get Luther and his legacy >even trusting people who are on the right to understand what Luther and the reformation in general meant
As the liberal ideology is more and more entrenched, they find themselves identifying more with the institutional opposition to Luther. Also Catholics are higher ranking in the oppression olympics than Protestants (who are quintessentially white and oppressive) and therefore favored by the modern left.
What's funny is that Moldbug can identify the modern establishment and its values as "the cathedral", a metaphor from the late medieval church, yet still remains antipathetic toward Luther.
TL;DR Luther is unfashionable. Erasmus or the more radical reformers are preferred.

who needs antisemitic propaganda when their own fucking "sacred texts" reveal what vile scum they are?
Religious wars weren't fundamentally different from the wars that happened before. Western Europe saw longer periods of peace under mixed Protestantism/Catholicism than before, this was caused more by ethnic conflicts than religious ones. The Church was hopelessly corrupt when Luther came along, not least because of allowing Jews in to subvert things. Maybe Luther went too far, but then he didn't intend to force a split. He only wanted reform.

I'd say we are filling the void that the mainstream media left. Television and the film industry don't have the same influence they used to. The internet is the future and that's our territory. Not the kikes. We have the home field advantage. We understand the internet far better than they do. The reason that the right can meme is that the left sets up very fragile dogmatic positions that they insist be respected. All the right has to do is undermine those positions.
The right has already had their sacred cows slaughtered long ago, and no longer explicates dogmatic statements or even goes so far as to conceal them in order to keep them safe. A classic example of the left having trouble meming against the right is stuff like the God account on twitter or the Jesus was a refugee meme. It assumes that the right is Christian and must jump to reconcile politics and their faith, after decades of telling Christians to STFU and keep it to themselves no less. It assumes that the right is Christian even though many on the right are secular. And it assumes that members of the right who are Christian somehow need to answer to them, while right wing christians feel no obligation to even respond.

I don't think that will work out too well for them. The left thinks that using censorship and sheer force will stop a culture from moving in a certain direction.
