Would you say that Kuzu no Honkai's treatment of Akane has heavy slut shaming elements to it?

Would you say that Kuzu no Honkai's treatment of Akane has heavy slut shaming elements to it?

No, her lover accepts her for who she is

>>>/tumblr/

>only good female in the entire show
>is also a slut
Why was this permitted?

You know I'm not sure if I hated her. I felt I understood her by the end of the show and I liked that she was trying to change, but she did a lot of awful stuff.

>get laid
>won best girl/boy
>get to taste multiple dicks
>morons flocking to her pussy
I dont see any shaming.Fuck off back to tumblr faggot.

What are you talking about user. She's the biggest slut and wasn't even felling any guilt about it but she got everything at the end without having to pay any price. Cuck sensei should wake up before his life ends up a total wreck.

>sluts

Yes, even the author herself was calling this character a bitch. You made a perfectly good point.I always thought this but was surprised so many other people missed this point . That's why i was happy that it was kanai who ended with her, only character who knew her true personality( in regards to her promiscuous ways , not manipulative) not to slut shame her. Even mugi and hanabi hypocritically chastised her despite hanabi doing the similar thing to noriko. No doubt she was a horrible person bit it was ridiculous how much she was demonized by the
show and even more so by the viewers of this anime.

She wasn't feeling happy about it either. It was just self-destructive behaviour, hollowness and attempt to fill the void that she felt. Of course that still doesn't justify her actions.

I wish we got an epilogue to see how her marriage turns out. I thought the series adequately showed that whoring around will bring you zero fulfillment. I'm looking forward to the bonus chapter, whenever that comes out.

>slut shaming
And what exactly is wrong with that, normalfag-kun?

>filename
I chuckled

I have same thoughts about this. Her character was also used to draw out more sympathy for the main characters especially Hanabi from the fans. It worked for many fans but i found it to very pretentious. Hanabi and Mugi were themselves scum and it was important to remember this while feeling sympathy for them.

Thank you! :3

Everything. There is nothing wrong with sleeping around, so long as you and the other person are on the same page. It's only morally wrong whenever you play around with the feelings of someone in love with you, like Hanabi did with Ecchan.

Only cucks take women who sleep around.

>emote
Fuck off, lurk more before posting retard.

To be fair, Ecchan forced herself on Hanabi and borderline raped her.

I'd argue stealing men from other girls just for fun and then throwing them away is not morally good either.

It's impossible to rape Hanabi because she's always in the mood for sex, with anyone and anywhere.

Why didn't Hanabi hook up with Akane?

This. Men don't actually like sluts.

Author seems to ship Hanabi with Ecchan.

It's called equality you bigot. No one slut shames a man.

>Would you say that Kuzu no Honkai's treatment of Akane has heavy slut shaming elements to it?

What you call slut shaming serves an important social function in western society. Growing up in the western world means being shaped by its institutions. One such institution is the institution of marriage, and marriage, in the west, is monogamous, for reasons far too complicated for you to understand, thought up by venerable people who dedicated their lives to what would later become the definitively western intellectual tradition.
And you, with your bored anarchy, want to mutiny against established normative presuppositions the origins and nature of which are lost on your tragically pedestrian mind. Taking for granted the beautiful moral framework which the west, with its exquisitely arcane high-academic ways, rests upon, and without which would make you no different from an arab or a jew.
If you keep foolishly peeling away at the walls of your own eden you will soon be faced with a howling wilderness the likes of which you can't imagine. A wilderness that doesn't care about emancipation or equality, a wilderness that wants only your destruction. And when that time comes you will regret ever critiquing the western mindset to begin with.

>le marriage
Marriage is cancer. One single partner for your whole life? Yeah right.

Did cuck sensei even loved this bitch for real? It looked to me like he wanted to be with his mom again. It doesn't make sense why would he reject a cute girl that loves him more than anything for a cumrag if he just wanted to be with someone. Can't help but wonder what would he do if she ever cut or dyed her hair.

Because a man can't be deflowered.
Nobody gives a shit if a man has had prior sexual relations because it doesn't make him less desirable.
A female however is desirable because she is pure as freshly laid snow and it brings men incredible joy to draw close to such a creature.
It brings men NO joy to see their hopes and dreams squashed as they watch girls sleep with tyrone and andre over and over, so that by the time he reaches puberty every girl has already been ravaged and there is nothing for him.

You won't say that about gay marriage tho.

No. The episode where she found her love is even called "A Kind God". She was loved by at least two people and got a happy ending.

Her issue wasn't that she had many sexual partners. It's that she couldn't truly connect to anyone and was cruel to people to try and feel something through that. If anything the story is very kind to her.

so we should all accept the way things are and never critique in fear of what may happen?

I do. I wouldn't wish marriage on anyone.

???
How was Akane cruel?

You must be retarded.

She rubbed it in other women's faces that she claimed the men they liked to make them suffer. I would argue she was cruel to Muggi by playing around with him. He was aware but she was the adult and teacher.

For the record I actually liked her as a character quiet a bit. And her ending too.

To the show's credit it made you understand her character but it also had heavy slut shaming elements regarding her character.

true slut never shame.

>:3
>There is nothing wrong with sleeping around
Stupid slut.

Go back to tumblr.

What makes you think I'm a slut?

Kys, 3dpd whore.

Before you question something you should first ask yourself why it exists in the first place and only then consider if it's still needed.
The idea is called Chesterton's fence.

>Did cuck sensei even loved this bitch for real?
We can say in his own twisted way he did.
>It looked to me like he wanted to be with his mom again
Not sure about this, only thing we can say is that he was initially attracted to her due to her resemblance to his mother or her long hair to be particular . He was a very underdeveloped character, while there are people like him in the real world in the sense that they don't feel possessive of their partners, the show never explored whether he was naturally like that was or was it because of traumatization due to his mother death or something.
>why would he reject a cute girl
Because he saw her as family or a little sister only. He cared for her a lot but as a little sister or family only. For him she was never a choice romantically.

>Trying to justify slut shaming.

Is there anything more pathetic than acting like a prude on a quasi-porn site?

No prudes are cancer and belong on Sup Forums

But I'm not a whore. Take your misogyny elsewhere.

It's not misogyny, men or women sleeping around is degenerate

>heavy slut shaming
How so? She literally gets away with everything. She's always treated nicely by her partners, no man ever beats the living shit out of her when they discover her cheating. She even finds a nice beta boy who allows her to sleep around and wants to marry her despite who she is.

I only sat through this shitfest for the ED transition each week.

>Slut shaming to Slut acceptance
How's that social justice creeping in your anime feel like Sup Forums?

Feels bad man, I hope I'm dead before it destroys my Japanese cartoons and video games completely

There's an undertone throughout the series that sleeping around and having sex with many people is bad, even if both parties are on the same page and the person isn't in a relationship.

>tfw the most popular animu is about a black lesbian disabled midget fighting for xyr translesbian Muslim lover's rights to use which bathroom xe wants

Because they characters are teenagers with warped, unhealthy and utterly fanciful conceptions of human relationships. The defining plot point of the series that that the main character has an obsessively one-sided infatuation with someone unattainable and copes by pursuing what she believes to be self-destructive relationship behavior that denies her emotional intimacy, only to discover that it doesn't actually. Understand that a character condemning something and a work condemning something are not mutually inclusive. You shouldn't take the opinion of a fictional 15 year old to be the moral authority of the author.

If anything, the undertone is 'get the fuck over yourself.'

You're right that they aren't mutually inclusive but there's nothing aside from speculation to say that it wasn't the authors intent as well

Fuck, I'd watch that.

Consider suicide

>there's nothing aside from speculation to say that it wasn't the authors intent as well
You've got it backwards.
To make a claim of authorial intent, you need to substantiate that claim with secondary evidence (eg. interview or direct testimony from the author).
You don't 'disprove' unproven authorial intent, just like you don't 'disprove' an unproven murder accusation. There is, presently, a lack of compelling evidence in favour of advancing the position that "sleeping around is bad" was deliberately intended by the author as a moral message of the work. If you'd like to present some, be my guest.

Fair enough, there's no direct testimony from the author so with that requirement it can't be done.

But I think infering intent is especially common especially when looking at works from a deceased author.

>sleeping around and having sex with many people is bad
Well, the research does support that. There are many negative effects associated with it from obvious ones like higher risk of STDs to to less obvious ones like decrease in school performance.
And just because you're free to do something doesn't mean it's good for you or that you can't be criticized for it.

Don't worry we have another degenerate focused anime next season, Trap NTR!

You can study intent of late authors from existing testimonials and interviews from the period in which they lived, just like any other historical document. All traces of their life don't disappear when they die.

A creative work of fiction, however, is not a valid source to infer details of the real world. You don't look at H.G. Wells' novels and say "oh dear, looks like this man thought martians were real. What a nutter!" An author may insert some aspect of themselves or their worldview into a work, and may often do so unintentionally, but proving that is another matter entirely. Without sufficient compelling evidence, you can easily project whatever the hell you like onto a work and claim it as the words of the author themselves, which of course is a tool for exactly the kind of moral-policing and witch-hunting that seeks to justify censorship and suppression of speech based on real-world agenda.

I'd shame her with my dick

Yes you obviously can but those things don't always exist or people infer/question things that don't explicitly get referenced in testimonials or interviews.

While I agree that is the only true way to know it doesn't stop people from speculating and believing something to be true whether it's on an Japanese cartoon image board, in public when discussing a book or in university, it happens everywhere.

And I don't know where you got the idea that I was trying to justify censorship or suppression of speech, regardless of the authors intent it doesn't make it at all relatable to the real world, if we were going based on the real world there there's obviously a lot of evidence that non-monogamous relationships are generally more unhealthy for individuals as well as society but that doesn't mean it's wrong for everyone or that I don't support people who make that choice.

The author herself called akane's character a bitch which only prompted even more slut shaming towards her character by the audience.

If calling a promiscuous character a 'slut' is slut shaming, then isn't the word 'slut shaming' slut shaming?

Other characters were also promiscuous, why weren't they called sluts then ? Point is that it prompted even more slut shaming by the viewers towards a character which was already over demonized by both the anime and the audience watching it. Do you know when the author called this character a bitch ?

>why weren't they called sluts then ?
Why are you asking me?

Hana and Mugi were also called sluts, Ecchan and Noriko weren't because they weren't

>Hana and Mugi were also called sluts
By whom in the anime ?
Akane was chastised by both Mugi and Hanabi, called a slut by one of her boytoys who was a slut himself. Kanai was the only one who still knowing about her promiscuous ways didn't judge her and didn't chastise her. Don't get me wrong, i admit Akane was a horrible person but at times she was way over villainized for the sake of eliciting sympathy for the main characters.
> Ecchan and Noriko weren't because they weren't
I did say promiscuous characters, doesn't mean i said all other characters.

My mistake.

By almost everyone watching the show

Sorry but i asked by whom in the anime.
>>By almost everyone watching the show
I agree with you on this especially regarding mugi but at the same time there were also many who believed them to be tragic characters who did nothing wrong( This was especially true for Hanabi's character).
