Why are light novels such an awful medium?

Why are light novels such an awful medium?

Low standards for publication.

No seriously that's it.

How many did you read? In Japanese that is.

This.

this basically
pretty much anyone can get one made because of how low the standard is for making a profit since all you need is like 6 good drawings and really shitty writing
but that's the same as it is for all novels and books

EOPs think they can judge a medium they can't read

>can't read
dude they're books that expect you to know about 1000 kanji and even then use furigana for basically everything, they're pretty lcd

Because 95% of everything is awful. LNs are no different, they're just manga in text form. Also, it's really only the popular pandering moneymakers that get translated or animated. Plenty of good stuff get passed up because they're harder to get into.

>dude they're books that expect you to know about 1000 kanji and even then use furigana for basically everything
Except that's completely wrong you retarded EOP, don't talk about shit you have no idea about

>Hakomari
You take that back nigga

Now it ain't some literary masterpiece but it ain't that

>even then use furigana for basically everything
I really wish this was true. Would make it a lot easier to pick vocab from them.

Can you guys even mention one novel released in the past year you consider good, language doesn't matter

Easy profit for high lack of effort, just like American YA novels

All you have to do is copy what's popular. It's different than manga where you need to be able to draw as well.

They're made be teenagers, for teenagers.

>Lot of good stuff get passed up because they're harder to get into.
This is sadly true. I'm still wandering how many good stuff from the mid-70s to early-90s that are sitting around without an anime or translation.

Slayers is literature and Lina is perfect

Some of them are passable enough to act as a story board for a superior medium like manga or anime, but yeah, by themselves, they are completely and total shit.

>oregario
one of these is not like the others.

Actually, no
Sturgeon's law says it's just 90% of everything is crap. Unfortunately, the standards in publishing an LN is completely abysmal making it's chance of failure soar up to 99%. They just kept on throwing shit to see which one sticks

This. And I believe most LN garbage written by "ghostwriters".

Well for example "Ender's Game" is YA novel. But quality is completely different compared to LN
