Here's the original text, btw. It translates as "her ass is irresistible".

That one time "Itadakimasu" got translated as "Through the Dark Lord Amen."

It was one of the first fan translated things I read, so I may have been overreacting at the time, but I had trouble even following Psycho Staff because of the translation.

Uh... in the context of the referenced meme, that's exactly what the translated English version means. You can argue it's memelation, but depending on the manga and target audience it might be a better rendering than the more literal one you gave.

That's not even bad, it's just localizing a translation to fit the context. Look at the Band of the Hawk scans for berserk if you want to see truly terrible translations.

Disagreed. If you have a basic working knowledge of Japanese then a shitty Google translation will at the very least give you enough hints that you can figure out what the original said. A localization that bears little resemblance to the actual meaning or wording of the source material actively prevents you from understanding what's it supposed to mean.

An official spanish translation of Slam Dunk. In a page, some guy says to another "Eres un fantasma" which literally means "You are a ghost". Turns out, that for some retarded reason, calling someone a ghost in Spain means they brag alot.

The fact that we are apparently discussing the translation of porn dialog, which basically means translating grunting forcefully, makes this whole thread defunct from the start and OP should also fuck off and try reading something without his dick in his hand.

There are like a million examples of really atrocious translation of actual commercial work - for example, in the English localization for Granblue Fantasy's Charlotta character arc event, the translator apparently had never heard of a frittata and translated it as 'friedough' despite the characters saying "fritta" very clearly in Japanese.

Complaining about porn translations is seriously just dumb.

I will never understand all this memeing and drama in fansubbing. Most do it for free as a service to the community, but then they choose to be dicks about it instead of giving faithful translations.

Everything which comes from commie, FFF, gg, hadena, coalguys. Nintendo of America, 8-4 treehouse (and generally translations of the games). Manga is my country is translated awfully bad, we have 5 publishers and literally all of them are doing shit work. In more or less degree but still a shit without honorifics, with all cultural things cut out, with heavily rewritten script, changed names and original sfxes. Basically a commie level of shit.

Oh I forgot about heavy usage of local jokes.
If it comes to light novels, YenPress is doing terrible work. Generally LN market is totally screwed up, I can't stand / enjoy most of translations.

Shitty xseed used it in one of senran kagura games. But thanks to them I started learning Japanese and now I'm playing most of games in Japanese, so I don't need to worry about totally dumb translations.
Same goes to anime, but I still prefer watching with support of good not localized subs.

Look at the fan translation of Flying Witch. It's an absolute garbage. Herkz would be proud.
