Kyoani Movie Year

Reminder that Kyoani is slowly but steadily pivoting into a movie-only studio. So long, Ghibli.

FMP s4 got canned and instead will be made into movies by kyoanus.

At least Ghibli didn't milk their highschool series over and over again.

>KyoAni turning into KinoAni
Based

Euphonium movie is yet another recap.

If only we were so lucky

>Euphonium movie is yet another recap.
Why do they do this.

Two original movies.

>The staff of Kyoto Animation's Sound! Euphonium franchise announced at the "Hibike! Euphonium 2 Special Talk Event 1- 2-nensei Gōdō! Uji de Omatsuri Festival!" event in Uji, Kyoto on Sunday that the franchise will get two all-new films next year. One of the films will tell a new story of Nozomi Kasaki and Mizore Yoroizuka, and the other film will tell the story of Kumiko Ōmae and others as second-year students.
Oh, cool. A bit of a shame they'll waste one of the two movies on Nozomi and Mizore, but oh well.

I bet new yuribait story will be directed by Yamada, while Ishihara will direct the latter.

I hope they don't, Even though Koe no Katachi is one of the best things ever I still enjoy the clean shows they put out.

Plus they've already done Movies for most of the TV shows they've put out so what else would they do.

I'm fine with a Nozomi and Mizore move but I'm surprised they're popular enough to warrant a movie. Seems like a lot of other characters would have been better suited for their own film.

> Kyoto Animation has confirmed that Ayano Takeda will write a two-part sequel to the novels which is set to release in August and October 2017, the new story will take place in Kumiko's second year and Mizore's third year.
So the two new 2018 movies are going to be anime adaptations of the two novels coming out this year? So much about watching it spoiler-free.

Maybe Yamada wants to explore them properly. She really loved them.

With Maid Dragon and Koe no Katachi I'm more excited that they seem to be going back to adapting manga from various different sources, rather than just their own own self-published LNs.

Ishihara is the general director. Ogawa is the actual person doing the movie.

>still pouring budget into euphocrap
why?

So what you're saying is that kyoani is officially a dead studio.

Ogawa's directing the recap.

So Violet Evergarden is literally the only upcoming project that looks worthwhile at all from a studio that used to be my favorite. Free, Chuunibyou, and Hibike are the worst things they've put out in years, and they're pouring money and resources into them. Fuck this world.

Ogawa's doing the recap, the new movie about Kumiko's 2nd year will be directed by Ishihara.

More like KyoAni-Milking-Dead-Franchises year.

>Free
Fujos already moved on to YoI
>Chuuni
Oh wait you're serious, let me laugh even harder.gif

>A bit of a shame they'll waste one of the two movies on Nozomi and Mizore
But it's directed by Yamada, the sole reason to care about the studio. If anything, Ishihara's movie won't be worth watching.

>it probably won't be near koe no katachi's level
This wounds me.

I wonder how much creative input she'll be able to put into it since it's a side story. If it has to stick to the style and feeling of the TV series then yeah it probably won't be as good as her other films.
But if she gets to play around with it like she did with Tamako Love Story and Koe no Katachi we may be pleasantly surprised.

kys, literally best anime ever made

>Ishihara's movie won't be worth watching
Depends on how the story goes. The new novels on which the movie is based on will be released in August and October. If someone can do a summary of them we can see whether the movie is worthwhile or not.

I want to explore them properly too if you know what I mean

In an interview, the author said she talked to Kyoani a lot while they were working on the first season of the anime and that all those talks helped her come up with new details to put into the newer novels. Since she's writing these new stories concurrently with Kyoani planning anime adaptations of them, I imagine Kyoani is going to have a lot of creative input on them.

>waste one of the two movies on Nozomi and Mizore
There is no "wasting" anything. Mizore and Nozomi were relevant and somewhat important characters in the first half of the second season but clearly did not get enough characterization. The movie is needed.

Too bad Ribbons and Natsuki will steal the spotlight

Their plotline was retarded. They're best friends and one of them stops talking to the other for an entire year and the other one doesn't even realize something is wrong?

>Ishihara doing Eupho and Chuuni movie
>Ogawa, and Yamada doing this
>Ishidate doing Violet
>Kawanami doing three Free movies
The question is, what is Takemoto doing right now? will he directing new kadokawa anime (Biblia adaptation maybe) or what?

Meh. Got me enough Natsuki/Yuuko scenes in that arc.

>taaaaaaaaaaake oooooooooooon meeeeeeeeee

The movie format is just a better fit for anime than television series or comics. Like any time a show has an edited down recap movie, the movie is just a better more satisfying story because it cuts out all the fat.

>Takemoto
He's killing himself for the shit he did to the Free franchise.

Those two should have gotten a movie instead.

Turning it into something respectable and not melodramatic garbage?

He probably isn't doing anything until 2019

When I watched KnK on theatres it looked like it wasn't HD. And they played that The Who song at the beginning, kinda weird.

Nah. Turning it into shota garbage because that's his fetish and forcing it on the whole fanbase is retarded. Fuck him. I hope they don't give Tsurune to him.

That's what Free's LN was though.

>Disappearance is Spring 2010
>Hyouka is Spring 2012
>Amagi is Fall 2014
>High Speed is Fall 2015
>Maid Dragon is Winter 2017
>No new future project announced
Takemoto is an underused director

>shotashit
>respectable

>hasn't done anything big since Hyouka
What a cuck.

>High Speed is Fall 2015
>Maid Dragon is Winter 2017

He disgraced himself twice now and has to go to the temple to reflect on his actions.

I'd love to see them switch to movies only, but they hardly fit the void Ghibli left.
