what's it called when a manga or an anime take a genre and then flip it? it's been happening a lot lately.Goblin Slayer takes the fantasy/table top genre and flips it, Oregairu takes the romance genre and flips it, One Punch Man, ect. I like this shit.

Wrong

tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Deconstruction

its called DECONSTRUCTION OF THE MAGICAL GIRL GENRE

Depends on the way/extent to which it's "flipped." As the Subverted Trope page explains, "subverted" is just any time what the conventions/tropes/cliches/etc. of the genre makes you expect doesn't happen. Deconstruction is when they take those things and look at how they'd actually play out if the world worked more realistically.

Eva is a deconstruction of the anime genre

This thread is a deconstruction of intelligent discussion

Is there one about a fantasy character getting reincarnated into the real world with a cheat skill?

>tvtropes
Fuck off and kill yourselves, cancer.

>goblin slayer
>flipping fantasy
No you faggot. Its not a fantasy adventure. Its just low fantasy. How fucking new are you.

it's satirical nature makes it have more in common with something like sao than berserk

Yeah, Deconstruction is right. One punch man is a pretty clever one, but I'm not sure Goblin Slayer fits the bill, it's more like dark fantasy than anything.

Goblin Slayer takes the fantasy/table top genre and flips it

Wasn't that basically the plot of the movie Enchanted?

Bible

Alright, give a better website that has massive lists of TV, Anime, video games, etc, organized by tropes.
I don't even care if it is reddit tier shit, it's the only one of its kind.

>low fantasy
The setting is not low fantasy.

Doesn't seem very satirical.

Give me a reason why anyone would ever need massive lists of TV, Anime, video games, etc, organized by tropes.

Alright, say that you like Dark Fantasy, 3deep5u bullshit, shonen shit, whatever.
It gives a simple of way of generating a list of shit similar to that, making it easier to find media that you actually want to consume.
If you can't see why that might be useful, kys.

it's something. all the "normal" adventurers treat adventuring like it's not real. it could be described as meta-gaming. meanwhile, goblin slayer has a purpose, and makes adventuring fun and interesting for his party. it reminds me of a real good role player.

Except Berserk had an arc that is pretty much Goblin Slayer's whole premise.

Not really reincarnation, but maybe Hataraku Maou-sama?

It feels more like you're treating the actual satire, like the shit you see in isekai, as the norm. But I get what you mean.

Goblin Slayer is neither a deconstruction ar a flip.
It actually deep into the tropes of the genre to the point the characters don't even have a name but are referred as their class or role in the story.
It just have a more practical/realistic take on the action.
Is not a story about a chosen one with a special power that make his task look like the easiest thing in the world. He cannot lift a sword as heavy as an horse if not even more. And there is not a "fodder" between the enemy that just wait to be slayed cause they are weak.
The numbers and the advantage of the locations count. And a poisoned dagger is effective no matter how almighty is the one getting stabbed by it.

>takes the fantasy/table top genre and flips it
Adding lots of rape doesn't flip fantasy at all. That shit is part of fantasy since Conan. Even Tolkien included rape on his stories.

One Punch Man doesn't flip anything either. Generally, at the end of a fighting series, the protagonist is one of the strongest, if not the strongest, being in his setting. One Punch Man just starts after that point. It's like a fairy tale that starts after the prince and the princess are married and living happily ever after.

>One Punch Man doesn't flip anything either
Yes it does.

I am NOT advocating for Goblin Slutshamer. I want to be upfront about that.

Goblin Slayer actually is a fairly standard deconstruction (flip) of many table top cliches. How gobbos are portrayed, the specific level and context of lethality, the definition of progression, etc. It may not be very good but it is a "flip".

>One punch man doesn't flip anything either.
Oh you're just a blind asshole. Nevermind.

>How gobbos are portrayed, the specific level and context of lethality

How is that a flip? They're trash mobs, only dangerous on the unsuspecting, and only in great numbers.

It should be specified that the flip is not in the world building but the narrative focus

GS focuses on the goblins and the specialist rather than a hero who goes on to progress traditionally. The light novels, incidentally, mention in the beginning of a novice hero who pulls a legendary sword and kills a demon king as a comparison to the Goblin Slayer

No it doesn't you faggot.
