I'd agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that he has been consistently copying a single artist like an idiot. There are plenty of ways to trace without the lines overarching too much and in some of the examples they do anyways.

You can also pay attention to the way he draws hand/feet/shoulders. You can practically say when he is not copying by how bad they suddently look in some of the panels while being perfectly fine in others.

Most of them don't look outright traced, but I would say they do look too close for comfort, especially considering he's already a fairly unabashed Inoue clone. To me, it's more disappointing than anything else. He's still a good artist, but this sort of thing does make me respect him less.

All mangaka trace. It's part of the pipeline. If they don't race characters, it's almost a given that they trace backgrounds. Difference is that most modify it enough so that the source can't be found.

There is a difference between tracing a model or a photo and tracing someone else's intellectual property. All in all, the only reason we even know about him tracing is because he abused it to a such degree that even Japs themselves got pissed.

I don't think that's quite fair to say. Yes, he's copied far more than is decent and he should be criticized for that, but his art has legitimately improved on the whole. That's what makes this all the more disappointing to me, he shouldn't have to be doing shady stuff like this.

All of his works are kind of samey. He really loves to abuse that rather stiff pose where the girl just lies very flat on her back, writing is the same "Going bareback is the BEST!" stuff every single time, some of his backgrounds looks like he didn't even bother to trace a 3d model and just left it as is. Etc. But the only reason I notice all those details in the first place is because he is one my absolute favorites.

And he's definitely anything BUT lazy when it comes to amounts of content he produces.
