So, I'm not a huge believer in the gas chambers etc, but what was the actual extent of the holocaust? I'm in a debate with someone who presented me with pic related, which is a memo from Himmler to Hitler which details over 300,000 Jews executed. How do you explain this other than that they were trying to kill all Jews? Is there a reasonable explanation here?

My opinion is around a million. Many in the camps died from disease, starvation. There were killings in the East tho, using locals/nationals/Einsatzgruppen. People who questions the Holocaust will be silently persecuted by the Jewish community and they have social influence everywhere, think like commisar style community infiltration. Apparently Jews killed in Ukraine (it lists them under "Bandenhelfer und Bandenverdächtige", gang members and suspects, or something like that) means the Holohoax happened to the person OP discussed with, which doesn't really make sense. The last line of 363k is the total. Would make sense if they were cleaning out the soviet apparatus of Ukraine, as they were overwhelmingly Jews.
I'd like an accurate full native german translation too, though.

with respect to the "concentration camps had pools, etc" you need to consider that this was a "model aryan city" repurposed as a forced labor camp.
