What's the best manga ever?

What's the best manga ever?

Boku no Pico

Naruto

air gear (as a fight manga)

Probably Negima. Got something for everyone. Clearly planned in advance. Great backgrounds and art. Well developed characters.
Exciting, etc.

Hard to say what's best when genres are so diverse.

Pluto

lucifer and the biscuit hammer

nice

SBR is so overrated

Is Jojo REALLY that good? I tried reading it and got far but it's just not that interesting.

Part 1 is generic and not good outside of Dio being a beautiful asshole.
Part 2 is pretty good, anime captured it really well.
Part 3 is okay but too episodic for most people. Better read that one.
Part 4 to 8 are all mostly good/great. It's mostly monster of the week with an overarching plot, but the fights and the art make it really enjoyable.

Depends on the part
1 is generic
2 is enjoyable
3 is not that good but it's innovative
4 is the good version of 3
5 is pretty bad but people claim that it's due to the translation
6 is mediocre
7 is very good

hahahaha

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's not, every part except 5 and 8 sucks so bad it's hard to believe that it's by the same author. But of course jojobronies will tell you otherwise since they're retards.

Snk

Maybe I'll run through it...
Yea, I got through I think part 4 or 5 and I already am iffy about their tastes.

It takes ALOT for me to drop a series.

If you didn't like part 4/5 fights the series is probably not for you

>but people claim that it's due to the translation
The new translation helps a little with the characters personality but the part still feels like wasted potential and Giorno is still shit.

Teppu, as a sports manga at least

I have read the first two parts and they were very average

Apparently the series doesn't get good until part 3

Shingeki no Kyojin.

Sauce

Name one good completed manga with an ending that isn't complete shit.

in my humble opinion Naussica in the valley of the wind is
and Otomo´s Akira as a close second

Alice in Borderlands

...

Devilman

this one

Are you for real?

Ping Pong too

>good

Beck

In no particular order:
>Kokou no Hito
>Freesia
>Ping Pong
>Takemitsu Zamurai
>No. 5
>Dorohedoro
>Blame!
>Soil
>Ultra Heaven

I've been reading and scanlating manga since the dawn of time and these are the ones that have struck me as the most creative or innovating of manga. If you havent read these I suggest you get to work.

...

>Freesia
Never was a big fan of this one; strong atmosphere, but I just didn't care what happened to the characters, frankly. Same for most of his work.

>Ultra Heaven
I mean, it's very creative, but he ditched it without really going anywhere; it's basically just an artbook of hallucinatory imagery. I think I even prefer Koike's own oneshots.

The rest are good.

>no YKK
Wow.

We don't want to kill the thread so soon.

I think what you are saying of Ultra Heaven is unfair, theres alot of substance and commentary going on. I dont know if I should be praising the translator or the author for the conversation between the main character and the bartender. As for Freesia, to each their own, but its the only manga that ever made me laugh besides Cromartie high. We traditionally see alot of slapstick, low brow humor and manga, so some deadpan really goes along way.

So much overpowers levels on air gear... but still pretty good

>theres alot of substance
>substance
That there is.

ohoho

I don't know, but I probably haven't seen it. Most of the manga I've read I could name a bunch of flaws and problems I had with them.

Maybe Akira?

Negima was well on its way until it got aborted.

It Hurts

My favorite.
Coincidentally, the worst manga ever just so happens to be your favorite.

Devilman is awesome you pleb

>Request threads

Fuck off

>A manga about wizards for 10 year olds is the best manga ever
>a homage manga is somehow better than the original
This doesnt even deserve a real response. You're nuts, go to sleep.
No jojo is not the best manga ever. No not even part 7. No it does not even make the list.
This is actually not a good manga. But its not trash, it just got canned involuntarily. Not the authors fault really.
Both classics. Definitely contenders.
Its garbage. Do you guys even read manga? Just like books, theres pulp manga clearly meant to be read on the toilet and then there are masterworks. Try reading one masterwork to be able to tell the difference between what gets a McDonalds toy tie in and what gets awards.
Amazing manga.
Excellent list

Lord have mercy on my soul, this thread almost killed me. Perhaps the thread itself was just phrased bad, of course there is no best manga. But some of you guys need to rethink your life.

>Negima
It was good until it turned into a DBZ rip-off; by then, it stopped focusing on other waifus.

>After graduating HS, she became a hikkikomori
Guess how MAD i am

Devilman and all Go Nagai works are the epitome of absolute unadulterated garbage, but its kind of like MD Geist where even though Geists head flaps in the wind in one scene because the cells were corrupted, you kind of just like it because it represented an era of the medium.

>Astro
>good

Also
>a homage manga is somehow better than the original
Yes. why the fuck not?

>that guy that critiques everyone else's tastes but doesn't offer his own

I didn't say Astro boy was good. Astro boy is beyond good, its important. To say a homage that borrows virtually all of its character designs, setting, detail all of that from another manga, to consider it to be superior to the original is just complete blashemy. Not by principle, just by practice, consistently so. The basic plot of pluto is not original either. Its just a paint job for mature readers.

I offered my own implicitly by saying what I liked and what I didn't. I'm not afraid of talking about this stuff I just refuse to do it in a setting of people who don't even really read outside their comfort zone of magical girls, jump shonen, and romantic comedies.

...

I don't think a best or perfect is classifiable or attainable, but despite all the memes this is probably close.

We're discussing quality, faggot, not importance. Just because it's Astro 2.0 doesn't mean it can't be better than OG Astro. It is.

Well, you are a complete retard who has no respect for writing or art, and you are unworthy of mine own time or anyone else's. There is no best manga, you take that query and you do something with it. Pluto isn't important either, so just fuck off with that crap. You like to be entertained, not to think.

Last update was a while ago, is the author going to continue on the project?

>Pluto isn't important either, so just fuck off with that crap
Good thing I never said it was. Or I don't care for that matter. I'm comparing two works of fiction. One of them is good, the other is bad regardless of its cultural importance.

The manga called Teppu is over. The story of Teppu may not be, but the manga Teppu was clearly cancelled.

Not the best but a few of my favorite that I enjoyed a lot are

>holyland
>Alice in wonderland
>molester man
>masterbating Kurosawa
>Grand Blue
>Vagabond
>koe no katachi
And I also enjoyed the fuck outta afterschool war activities

What fascinates me about Devilman in particular (and Mazinger Z and Cutey Honey as well to a lesser extent) is that it managed to become this massive franchise in spite of being such a massive clusterfuck of weird ideas randomly jumbled together.
You would definitely not see a manga that batshit insane get that kind of attention today. It really is a product of its era.

> Try reading one masterwork to be able to tell the difference between what gets a McDonalds toy tie in and what gets awards.

>You like to be entertained, not to think.

I'll admit I sneered mentally at some of these answers, but you're miles up your own ass, holy shit.

Fullmetal Alchemist, but people seem to hate that ending because it's "too happy". Sorry it isn't bittersweet or edgy enough for the average Sup Forums user.

Thanks for the list user I love discovering new series

Good and bad are just superficial words used by imbeciles who don't have the attention span to deconstruct what they have just read. You and many others make up a class of readers called "prose readers" who judge everything on the most superficial of surface detail. You read 16 pages of a manga, then go into another tab on Firefox or Google Chrome to masturbate or watch a youtube video or play a video game. You cannot understand anything more advanced than the explosions or artificial suspense walloped on your pirated scanlation because you did not read Pluto to use your brain cells or expand your mine, you came for the "who dunnit" and power levels. You cannot seperate the manga from the author or the environment of manga. You cannot objectify quality, nor can you make any attempt to do so interesting (there are no rules on judging stories or art). Criticism or discussion about manga is not an IQ test, its a test of your ability to write something that other people care about. Heres an example.
Look at the above 2 posts. Do you at any time see the words "good" or "bad" or "best" or anything nonsensical and philistine like that? Of course you don't, because they read good manga, and are older than the age of 18.
Now look at this bullshit in comparison. This is what you generate by being stupid.

I actually like Devilman btw I just wouldnt try to say its good in public

are you high

this is actually hilarious. I actually agree with your basic point but holy shit this is like that /ck/ medium rare steak autism all over again

What are you doing here?

Why the hate for this series?
I'm only like 12 chapters in but I thought it was pretty good so far

I'm here to teach you how to read poetry. Reading a manga is like ready poetry. You don't read great manga like prose. You read it several times and delve into the author's subconsience. If you are unable to do so, you are reading pulp manga, "who dunnit", jump shonen, porn, yaoi hands, or a romantic comedy.

>hehehe look at my masterful deconstruction of you, I know you better than you know yourself!
Can it with that shit, you're giving people with taste a bad name.

I don't hate it. In fact I've read it twice. It got worse the second time. But that manga is not the best manga, its not even comparable to manga like the Climber or Akira. Lots of people love that manga here, I'm willing to bet if they really think thats the best manga, they havent read alot. Call it a confirmation bias. Its like hearing how someone thinks the Dark Knight is the best film of this generation. You just immediately, involuntarily categorize that person as a moron.

>It got worse the second time.
Worse and better are just superficial words used by imbeciles who don't have the attention span to deconstruct what they have just read.

I don't think I am the person you think I am

As much as i loved Teppu, Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru is pretty great.

Its like when you look closely at a supposedly smooth stone and see all the rough edges.

But what if you're not the person you think you are?

No that would be "good" and "bad." Worse and better are comparative terms. Good and bad don't have any inherent metric. Its like measuring the temperature of a wire with your made up scale "its 1000 degree Scadoopaheit". What does that mean? No one knows. X is better than Y is pretty clear.

Toriko, the last arc was rushed yet it had a weirdly solid and fulfilling ending

> Good and bad don't have any inherent metric
They're not fucking quantities, of course they don't. There's no metric of "hot" or "cold," either, just of temperature. Good means the work overall was approvable/enjoyable/etc. depending on context. Bad means the work overall was not. The only "issue" with them is that they don't explain way and amount to nothing more than "I enjoyed it [or not]", which applies equally to "better" and "worse."

J O J O
O
J
O

Call it a personal dislike of vocabulary that encourages a lack of depth. You could convince me Code E belongs in a museum if it was written properly.

Better and worse lack depth, too, though. If you're going to go full autist, do it consistently.

Yeah but then you get into bullshit like I thought it was good because I had fun reading it and I thought it was good because it seemed like "critically good" like I was reading an acclaimed work. I agree they are dumb words, frankly. but thats fine, this is a dumb site

Real.

>Ultra Heaven
You are my nigga
>but he ditched it without really going anywhere
I thought it ended? Kabu gets mindfucked into a state of perfect ego-death and becomes god of the Drome, or something. It's been awhile. I mean I definitely wanted more but I figured it was just the end.

...

It depends on the context. Your point is not without any merit, but its semantic. I'm saying down with the culture of pea brains saying this is "da bomb" and this is shit, and then maybe a reason afterwords thats probably written like shit and convinces no one of anything. All of these things are just words. In that very particular case the person said lucifer and biscuit hammer got worse after a second read. No reasons. But thats different then just saying its BAD.

...

Thats actually not the end. Thats the end of volume 3, there are 4 total and the last one is not translated or scanned

I know its hard but I don't think Berserk belongs on a best of anything anymore. Its riding on its past glory, a very distant past. The writing is absolutely terrible.

I had alot of fun with this but its the most mysoginistic, ultra nationalist, politically embarrassing crap I've ever read.
>USA diplomat comes to Japan
>MC fucks his wife
>Dominates her with pure Japanese nippon stronk power, the nation is on the road to glory.
What the fuck. It actually made me laugh how cheesy it was.

>thinks Berserk is badly written
>thinks Sanctuary is embarrassing
>uses "mysoginistic" to describe it
All of your opinions are invalid.

I will be if it ever finishes.

Yes yes, memey meme meme look I can do it too. I've heard it all before. I didn't say offensive, I said cheesy.

The only time Berserk was poorly written was the Sea God arc, and only because it was a very unnecessary addition.

The current writing is perfectly inline with the Troll arc which was good, and the brief time in Falconia with Rickert was just as good as Conviction.

You can throw around the word meme all you want, the fact remains you're wrong, your taste is shit and nothing of value can be found within the bog you call your soul.

No I think you are wrong. I'm pretty smart. Sanctuary being mysoginist is a fact, I didn't say it was wrong for being so. Thats an opinion. But if you understand why the author writes all of the political and social stuff the way he does, you realize hes the Japanese equivalent of a US "baby boomer" and his manga is basically a masturbation similar to "Forrest Gump." Also Berserk is pretty badly written. The pacing is terrible, how is this a debate? I thought it was pretty unanimous. In Berserk's defense though, I don't think any manga like it actually has good writing.

Nope, incomplete. And if you recall, the third volume ended with him awakening and some scientists foreshadowing cryptic shit.

Comic Beam doesn't list a fourth volume, and the nip web shows people relatively recently griping about the lack of continuation, so I'm pretty sure that doesn't exist.
