The people in Eastern Europe have experienced both socialism and capitalism, and thus are able to compare the two from personal experience. The fact that they overwhelmingly prefer socialism is proof that socialism is superior to capitalism.

The problem with those countries now -- especially Russia -- is that post-communist corruption is rampant. Police are all corrupt and it just goes up from there.

1. Wake up in the morning, use water from buckets to wash face and brush teeth. We live downtown almost in the middle of the fucking capital, but there are always water shortages and cutouts. We litteraly fill buckets with tap water to be able to use next morning.
2. Get to school in hugely overcrowded buses, with people overflowing through the doors and sometimes litterally falling off the bus.
3. At school get taught about how great our dictator is and how blisful communism is. Also get taught normal shit.
4. Mum picks me up from school. We head over to the grocery store where people are waiting in huge lines to get basic and simpke food like bread or butter. Because of shortages, they will only sell half a piece of butter to each person in the line. This is why mum needs me there with her, so we can get some extra butter to eat. Even if it's raining or snowing, we wait for more than one hour in the line, outside, to get the fucking butter.
5. Get home, wash up and fill the buckets for tommorow morning.
6. Let's check what's on tv. There is a single tv station, during the weekdays they only have two hours of programming, in the evening. Yes, that's right, there is 2/24h tv transmission. On this particular evening the 2 hours are entirely filled up with a musical show honoring our great dictator. Same as every other evening during the weekdays.
7. Power shortage. This is quite common. The power goes out for maybe half the city. We light up the candles that we always keep at hand. It's time for bed anyway.
8. Repeat above Monday-Saturday. Yes, under communism Saturday is a week-day, a work day . The weekends are Sunday only.
This is truth about communism and anyone trying to tell you differently is a fucking liar.

Since Hungary is the only country in the former Soviet bloc with this attitude, I also suspect there's some specific local factors nobody is taking into account.
