>19: Eclair (Kiddy Grade)

Pre-twist version I assume.

Azumanga cleaning up.

Wait, thats just for the year of 2002, right? Not, a top 100 up to 2002.

Was .hack a big deal in nipland or something? Seemed pretty niche over here.

3: Aoi Sakuraba (Ai Yori Aoshi)
2: Mizuho Kazami (Please Teacher!)

Given that there's on one from Evangelion on here, I assume so

This is just for anime airing in 2002 (including sequels, movies, etc)

How often do the eva girls still show up in those pools? All i know is that rei is super famous there.

I remember watching it on Cartoon Network in high school around the same time I watched Lain here in the US. Can't speak to its overall popularity but I know a decent amount saw it that way.

1: Chi (Chobits)

>Misha over Shia

>a bunch of literal whos
This is a really ancient waifu list.
Thanks I guess.

Consider your thread appreciated.

>Spiral
Now that's a show I haven't thought about in a long time. I wonder if it's still as trash as I remember it being.

It was a massive multimedia franchise, of course it was a big deal.

Didn't the anime fuck up Shia's subplot? That's part of the reason why I never watched it.

(You)

>literally robotic fuckdolls voted as first woman
I felt somewhat sad.

Who are those 2 faggots?

>Robin and Chiyo that low
yurusanai

I noticed Vivi and Nami from OP, but no Robin, although she was pretty much in the crew already by the end of 2002.

Do you have an specific date of publication?

Sorry these are the only pages I have. Not sure which month in 2002 this was.

The only one of these who's better than Naru is Mahoro

2002 was like some kind of goddamn waifu desert, but Mizuho was pretty cool. She was also literally the protagonist's wife, so it's hard for me to waifu her knowing she's getting canonically knocked up by some kid.

>Osaka not #1

She got into the top ten at least you greedy bastard

WOOOOOO TOP 100 MAKE WAY FOR GUU

I'm surprised the Major is that low on a list that really shouldn't have much competition, maybe the show was still airing when this was made, it simply took time for this version of her to catch on or it comes down to the type of people who made this

Motokooo

Where's Jesus Yamato?

Saga was good but I'm gay for Salt

I expected her to be top 5 at the least

Chobits craze was something I never understood.

called it before opening the thread, mahoro is a better robo waifu than chi
Here is your free (You)s

It was the first time Clamp did a fanservice shounen.

>there was a time when Japan actually did like older women/cakes

Seem to remember dropping Spiral because of a shit asspull for the first episode murder mystery.

Locked room scenario and it gave you no hints about how it was done until the reveal and the 'evidence' for the method was basically "this was the only way it could have been done".

Fuck that shit, a good murder mystery gives you enough evidence to figure it out or at least make you go "how the fuck did I miss that?".

OP song was great though.

It was. Got a bunch of games and anime/OVAs. Kinda glad that Mimiru made it to top ten.

>Shiho and Anna below Kagome

>Subaru that high

>Pritsの4人
Remember when Nana wasn't good enough yet to be her own act?

Look at all the 川澄綾子 and the 桑島法子 and the Hocchans. I can only feel for that one Maimai fan.

OP, post a ranking from around 2006 please.

More than anything I am amazed to see G-On Riders on the list at all.

>chobits
Was Chobits just a passing fad or something

What makes you say all the other anime of the time aren't passing fads?

Because well
I mean look, Azumanga Daioh, .hack//, Sakura Wars, Kanon, and a lot of the other ones are anything but just fads, but the Chi craze is something I just never understood.

>Aoi

LITERALLY MY WIFE

Those are all subjective and arguable, depending on which aspects of anime culture and history interest you. Among your examples, I found Sakura Wars to be just another adaptation of a galge but with a refreshingly novel setting.

People still talk about those, at least, I haven't seen anyone give a damn about Chi forever. Chi in particular, not Chobits; I mistyped.

I'd like to know about this community that still talks about Sakura Wars.

>Duck is only #98
FUCK you

Motoko is only 80.

>top 3 were filled with OTPs, undisputed best girls

This was the time.

Was Rahxephon super popular or something? The main girls in it are weirdly high

Unlike most nostalgia years, I can't exactly say 2002 was one of the best. Rahxepphon, FMP and GITS:SAC were stand outs and while I don't like SEED, it was a pretty big deal over there. But pverall, a meh year.

I watched Chobits 10 years after it aired. It was most definitely not just a fad, otherwise it would have been forgotten into oblivion after 1 year.

>Lacus not on top
So there was a time when Japan had good taste.

>for Salt
I hoped gay people from back then would have died off already.
Sugar on the other had a very fine piece of ass.

I don't know, but the illustrations from the manga were really pretty. I used to hunt them down to practice drawing frills.

True

>Ayu over Nayuki
>Chidori over Teresa

Shit list

Pita Ten's there. Koboshi's still one of my favorite Kugyuu roles.

Yes, it was referred to as the 'Eva killer' at one point.

>Princess Tutu
>not a stand out

I would argue that was one of the best shows of that year.

Really ? It also had Galaxy Angel, Princess Tutu, Haibane Renmei and Azumanga Daioh. Some of the OPs/EDs were my favorites

OSAKA

I see you only mentioned /m/ titles.

2002 had plenty of classics. It was the year where the unbroken string of great years began, than went on for most of the 2000s.
Look at 2001 for a year with few well known masterpieces. Or 2000.

Haven't seen them all, but I know Haibane, Princess Tutu, Azumanga, Full Metal Panic, Twelve Kingdoms are all considered good, and many appear on my favourite recommendation chart.

>73: Harukaze Doremi

>Meh year
>Haibane Renmei

Something is wrong here.

>It was the first time Clamp did a fanservice shounen.

And early 2000s is when ecchi fanservice for guys was the in thing ever since Love Hina was a hit

Also CLAMP was at its prime

shes one of the first girls I jacked too

> Full Metal Panic,
How is a generic LN adaptation with Gonzo's shitty production values a standout?

It remains one of the best recent mecha series. And the battle things are very exciting and well done. It's not a generic LN adaptation, and the production values are fine.

>It remains one of the best recent mecha series
Not even close. Hell there's barely any mech action and what little is in there is poorly animated and not particularly memorable.
> It's not a generic LN adaptation
It very much is a generic LN adaptation

>Fullmoon Wo Sagashite
I didn't want to remember this.

>Ranpha that low
sasuga japan

It is very exciting action it's a good anime. Or not only action but all the millitary stuff is good.
The animation was good enough to not be distracting so the animation was fine.
It does not feel like a generic LN adaptation.
And name 5 recent mecha anime that are better.

(OP)
So I take it this was conducted very early in the year since the bulk of these characters aren't ranked in the best characters of the 00s list from 7 years back. SEED premiered in late 2002 so its placements on the list makes sense.

>NO U the post

You sure showed me

wtf does this mean
You didn't exactly make any arguments to argue against, you said your opinion and I said mine, there is no room for more arguments here.
And you responded to my claim that it's one of the best recent mecha anime, if you disagree with that you should be able to name a number of better recent mecha anime (recent meaning ~digital)

>Only one Di Gi Charat made the list
>It wasn't even the best girl
I feel insulted.
