Sup Forums I don't watch a lot of anime, but I just finished the 1997 season of this show and I need someone to hold me. I feel mentally raped.
It was one of the best things I've ever seen but those last two episodes are the bleakest I've felt from a piece of media since I watched The Plague Dogs. Help me
Read the manga now, faggot. From the fucking start.
Camden Collins
Get up to speed with the manga. Caska might finally be unpotatoed in the next few chapters
Aaron Garcia

Leo Evans
Is it worth it? I've heard that the stories been going on for thirty years or so. Is it going to keep ripping my heart out? Also why the fuck did they stop making the 97 anime is was absolutely god tier
Nathan Brooks
Just shut up and get reading. '97 anime was on a fairly low budget and due to the violent, pushed to a ridiculous time slot of like 1:30 AM, so there were very low ratings. I don't normally do this, but here. Just download this and get reading. bakabt.me/torrent/162057/berserk-scans
Caleb Sullivan
Absolutely worth it. More detailed story, nothing has been "cut" due to ratings or time limits, and so on.
Plus, you get wonder characters like this asshole!

i regarded the 1997 anime as the best shit i'd ever seen for years but put off reading the manga for years, regretted it so much after i finally read the thing. it seems more intimidating than it is given how many volumes and how long it's been going but you fly through it once you start
Michael Carter
>Read the manga now, faggot. Basically this.
Adrian Collins
The manga is garbage. Amazing art, but absolutely garbage everything else. OP, you saw the best version of berserk, go no further. Heed my advice, regardless of what some faggot moe-blob loving fuck-stick on Sup Forums says.
You've been warned.
Connor Wright
>In a world of tiny red objects, one man held one once for a very, very long time
Blake Perry
>tfw Miura will never stop digital shit and be good again
Are we here just to suffer?
Kayden Richardson
>The manga is garbage 8/8 Top tier b8, m8.
Isaiah Reyes
>I don't watch a lot of anime Then fuck off, newfag.
Christopher Harris
Not even baiting. Want to know why it's garbage?
Puck. Puck combined with that faggot little kid after the golden age ends. The tone shifts from serious to goofy comedy prat falls and HURRRR SO RANDUMB humor.
Connor Garcia
>look at me mommy, I'm so edgy! You are pathetic, kid.
Samuel Ross
>everytime God Hand member shows up in manga episode
Hunter Wood
>It's a "Slan shows up to cock-tease Guts" chapter
Cooper Fisher
So you're not gonna refute that the serious tone and themes of berserk get undermined every time puck and that stupid little kid are on a panel together? And that because those two are in the main party after the golden age arc, they're ALWAYS in panels together?
Nice to know. There ya go, OP. If you like goofy Japanese comedy shoehorned into your berserk then the manga's for you. If not, then heed my advice.
Angel Barnes
>DARKNESS >IMPRISONING ME >ALL THAT I SEE >ABSOLUTE HORROR >RUH RUH RUH >ARAH RUH HA >I DON'T KNOW THE WORDS
I fucking love the outtakes.
Asher Williams
somebody's butthurt as fuck that his manga's not about le edgy guts and his man crush conquering the world. You must be one of those 'the story should've ended at the eclipse' people, aren't you?
Jonathan Jackson
How much do you wanna bet that after watching the 1997 berserk anime, OP had no investment in berserk's comedic pratfalls and goofy Japanese chibi humor?
Like I said. OP, if you liked berserk for its serious themes and tone then you watched the best version of berserk. If you don't mind goofy chibi heads being shoehorned into panels as characters are talking about some heavy shit then read the manga.
Jackson Cook
More than half of Griffith's outtakes are his actor singing showtunes
Lincoln James
I love how the 1997 series ended on such a high note of such exquisite despair. It gave me a smile on my face and a boner.
Carter Rivera
>I need someone to hold me. I feel mentally raped. That ain't shit read the manga, they cut a lot of the 'disturbing' content from the anime
>they totally skipped the most important character building chapters >unironically mfw
James Parker
tfw when we'll never get the Lost Children arc animated because it involves killing children. all that character development just passed over
Adam Gray
>Is it worth it? Yeah until you catch up to the point were it's finally at and then you're stuck waiting for Miura to put out a new chapter every seven years like everyone else.
Dominic Gutierrez
I dunno how much is killing children and how much is killing nude children, one of whic explicitly wants Guts' dick deep inside her loli moth thorax.
Jacob Green
OP here, I left my friend's house after watching the last of the 97 season at 12:30 am. Here I am almost 4 hours later and im up till the eclipse in the manga. They took a lot of images from the manga and directly placed it into the show.
I still cannot fathom why they cut the skull knight from the anime. It would have eased the despair a lot.
The OST and pacing of the show being really good, along with the fact that I was really vested in it is why it rattled my bones.
Ian Wright
Well done OP. Enjoy the ride. >It would have eased the despair a lot Funny thing, when I was in my first read through, and I knew little to nothing about Berserk, when SkullKnight first showed up (and even at his second appearance) I thought he was just another one of the monsters that would sometimes pop up in the story. The fact he was actually one of the good guys was a big surprise for me, and made him even cooler as a character.
Thomas Bailey
Yes. There hasn't been a good adaptation of it and none if it's animes can compete

it's not even hard to catch up i read it all i did it in maybe a week and a half with a few nights, sometimes reading 3-4 hours because it's so easy to binge, even the 97 parts you know
you'll be hooked on the manga by the end of the counts arc
Julian Taylor
Wyald was a shit
it was completely unnecessary to have an Apostle fight right before the Eclipse
