A New Zealand singer named Lorde canceled a show she was supposed to do in Israel because two activists in New Zealand convinced her to do it to boycott Israel. Now Israel is suing these two activists on behalf of three Israeli teens for damages.
>Shurat HaDin’s lawsuit is based on a controversial 2011 Israeli law allowing legal action to be taken against “he who knowingly publishes a public call for a boycott against the State of Israel.” And even though the case will be heard in a Jerusalem court, the law applies to foreign citizens and the ruling is binding abroad, according to international legal treaties.
