A question to US fags: is there anything you value more than freedom of speech? I came up with this question reading a thread about Poland's new bill banning the use of the phrase "Polish Death Camps" (no, it is not a holocaust denial bill), where some US fag said that allowing holocaust denial would be a nice start towards freedom of speech in denial. We in Poland do respect the freedom of speech. Foreign powers tried to deprive us of it enough times for us to grow fond of it. But in our culture freedom of speech is not top priority. See, we were occupied by enemy forces numerous times and different ideologies, like nazi ideology and communism, aimed to deprive us of our unity, national identity and culture. Because of that we figured out that complete freedom of speech is not the answer. We can see the rise of communism in the USA that is allowed to spread because of the freedom of speech. We have experience with dangerous ideologies and that's why we ban them. Even though we care about free speech, there are exceptions - we couldn't care less about the freedom of speech of a commie. I understand why amerifags don't understand this. As far as I know, you were never under the occupation since the formation of USA as an independent country and only fought one war on your own territory (not counting the war of independence, because that was before you were a country).
Maybe if you were occupied once, and your occupants banned your literature and art and ruled the academia (the latter is already happening) to ensure that the youth doesn't develop national identity and independent awareness, maybe then that would change. Which I hope never happens (the occupation), because I have no bad feelings about you and don't wish amerifags the destruction of their nation. But you gotta understand that the complete freedom of speech, which you like to point out as if it was something good that is distinctive of you as opposed to other nations, is not a good thing. There needs to be limits to all rights, for rights to not lead to anarchy. Also, it's funny when amerifags call POTUS the leader of the free world. As if USA was the only free country in the world. POTUS is not the leader og Poland, yet in Poland I am almost as free as I'd want (the right to bear arms is the only thing I'm missing).

The whole "Leader of the Free World" thing was never meant to apply to you anyway, it was an anti-communist thing and you were behind the Iron Curtain. It's an outdated term now. Also you make a fair point, as an American I place an extremely high premium on free speech, true free speech to include the banning of bullshit like "conspiracy" charges (you should not go to prison for shit you didn't do and only discussed), however I recognize that it is not unimaginable that in an emergency situation it is possible that (hopefully) temporary restrictions on free speech could become necessary.
