people suck the movie's cock a lot, but regardless it is still a great movie. Very few series actually have their movie versions be continuation of the main story, and this one in particular was what the entire series was leading up to.
I liked the series but the movie really makes it a joke in comparison.

The movie is pretty much the culmination of the series. Everything before was necessary for it to work as well as it did. Except that bug episode I guess since it's only foreshadowing for unadapted parts.
