I don't have much sympathy for non-English fansubbers, because many of them (not all, of course, but many) just take the English translation, and translate it into their language.
Basically, they're doing what any 15 year old could do by themselves. There's no effort or anything, and then they whine that someone is stealing their subs that they worked so "hard" at.
I do however respect the genuine fansubbers who know Japanese.

I actually can for basic-level nip shows like kodomo anime and slightly above. Recently I was able to watch LWA raws while >waiting for Asenshi and I understood the episode decently enough.
