1. Yamato (1974, TV) 2. Mobile Suit Gundam (1979, TV) 3. Gundam–Char’s Counterattack (1988, movie) 4. Legendary Giant IDEON (1980, TV & movie) 5. Animal Treasure Island (1971, movie) 6. Fight! Pyuta! (1968, TV) 7. Future Boy Conan (1978, TV) 8. Aim at Ace (1973, first TV series) 9. Tom & Jerry (1944) 10. Ann the Red Hair [Anne of Green Gables] (1979, TV)
>9. Tom & Jerry (1944) Why don't they let him remake it?
Nathaniel Allen
That top 3 is great.
Ethan King
ideon's better than the top three.
Brayden Hughes
>watch Ideon user, it's the basis for Eva and the anime version of 2001! >actually the driest, most boring turd Tomino ever shat out with a typical boring Buddhist message I have never felt more cheated
Ryder Campbell
>dry boring with Buddhist message Sounds like the average Tomino series.
Ian Young
There is an anime version of Space Odyssey?
John Cruz
Is Anno a Tomfag or a Jerryfag?
Carter Barnes
Every sane person is a Tomfag
Xavier Barnes
So you're saying Anno's a Jerryfag then.
Jaxon Ward
>9. Tom & Jerry (1944) I take back everything bad I've said about anno
Grayson Allen
>Ace wo Nerae
I'm not in the least bit surprised at this. Anno started the trend of ripping that show off.
Daniel King
>9. Tom & Jerry (1944) At least this pretentious jackass has some of taste.
Cooper Turner
Never forget
Michael Cox
>tom and jerry
absolute patrician taste
Lucas Clark
>Tom & Jerry Now this is real anime
Jackson Taylor
do japanese make the distinction between eastern animation and western like most werterners do?
Oliver Perez
No
David Gonzalez
>what would happen if Tom actually killed Jerry?
Easton Robinson
They make the distinction between foreign animation and their own, but the word anime itself is a catchall term over there as opposed to its Japanese connotations in the West.
Benjamin Howard
No because THEY'RE NOT FUCKING IDIOTS
Aaron Taylor
>9. Tom & Jerry (1944) >1944
Best taste, indeed.
Aaron Adams
>Why did you kill him? >I HAD TO KILL HIM, HE WAS A MOUSE, HE WANTED THE CHEESE!
Nathan Miller
I cannot fathom how anyone could ever be a Jerryfag. He practically ruins the show.
Caleb Lopez
Jerry is a little shit but you can't say he ruins the show since he's the reason why Tom is sympathetic to the audience
Nathaniel Murphy
Has there been a more recent list? Anno was crazy about Madoka, so I'd like to see where that would rank.
Jackson Reed
>7. Future Boy Conan (1978, TV)
I loved that show when I was a kid.
Jason Powell
I get that but what I meant was that the show favors him and fucks over Tom, sometimes in horrific ways, so much that it can get annoying to watch. Of course, this isn't much of a problem in the early stuck but as the show went along this caused it to become unwatchable.
>why Tom is sympathetic to the audience Was this ever intended or even realized by the writers of that show? They always seemed to want us to believe that Tom is a bully, but all I ever see is a diligent cat doing his best to do his job and rid the house of that disease ridden rodent. I don't think I have ever rooted for Jerry.
>that 1975 Tom jesus it's like it's from a seth macfarlane cartoon
Henry Howard
wtf I love the odyssey now
Asher Price
>not being a jerryfag
Elijah Carter
I can see the pattern here.
Jason Mitchell
Tsun tsun red hair bullying some poor boy?
Jackson Rodriguez
The size difference and chase dynamic immediately inform Tom as the antagonist, only occasionally will a cartoon include that this is Tom's job and he'll be kicked out of his home if he doesn't remove mice, and it's only in hindsight that Jerry was the invader with all the freedom to target elsewhere and avoid this conflict.
Jackson Taylor
They should both ally and apply Jim Crow laws on the faceless niggresse.
James Ramirez
Anne isn't really tsun at all in the anime sense just has a temper, although she does end up marrying the boy she is hitting over the head later in life.
Colton Morris
I don't want this retard anywhere near it The fact that he's got 8 shitty anime ahead of it is a disgrace enough in itself
Cameron Ramirez
Tom & Jerry was never a "show". It was a short film series. Unless you mean the shitty spinoffs on TV
Jaxon Wilson
Damn, I'm glad we agree that Yamato is the greatest thing ever.
Ryan Torres
l still remember the 1961-1962 and the 1980-1982 editions were full QUALITY back in the days
Blake Perry
>CCA third Great fucking taste faggot.
Jayden Fisher
>in a few minutes it'll all be over, and for the first time since he met her, he'll be happy. It's fucked up because this sounds exactly like it could be a line from Eva.
Joseph Sanchez
No to them anime literally just means animation
Kevin Roberts
>9. Tom & Jerry (1944)
John Kelly
It's funny how most of Sup Forums can't even criticize his top 10 because they literally have not even watched any of the things he's listed, besides Tom & Jerry.
Nicholas Foster
>implying there aren't a bunch of /m/en in this thread right now.
Ryan Davis
I for one am enjoying the stealth T&J thread. Remember the one where Spike's pup had the hiccups and Tom had to try not to wake him up? That was a good one.
Matthew Thomas
I just watched some of those series and they're ok, it's not like all Sup Forums watch classic anime.
Ethan Perez
...
David Moore
Seen the entire list besides Fight! Pyuta! It's a respectable list but mine would probably be quite different and I think Anno's would too had he grown up in any other era. Not trying to say that the list isn't full of bonafide classics that are still great today but given the way almost everything is from the 70s or early 80s I would have to say that the choices are highly influenced by the time period in which he was getting into anime.
Julian Thomas
>9. Tom & Jerry (1944) I guess
Sebastian Richardson
80s Tom was a mistake
Nathan Cruz
He doesn't like his own works?
Austin Bell
Congrats, you're a furry.
Matthew Rivera
>tom & jerry
Angel Watson
This is still fucked up
Jaxon Flores
On the bright side. The best episodes was when the rodent got fucked in the end and tom got his victory.
Adam Diaz
;_;
Connor Butler
The real problem is that I can't remember a single episode where /ourcat/ won, at best things went back to status quo like in the episode where him, Spike and Jerry called a truce
Owen Flores
Most boring top 10 I've ever seen. He could have at least thrown Strike Witches there to spice things up since he's a fan.
John Hall
>Strike Witches >1991
Ian Garcia
Yes he should have peered into the future.
Jaxon Reed
WW2 had happened 46 years ago by then
Kevin Allen
>watching anime >likeing anno shit >never watching gundam 0079 or char's counter attack
it like you cannot into Japanese culture
Nathaniel Sanchez
Okay I didn't see the date. Then make it Cutie Honey or something, the list is still too safe and boring.
Aaron Richardson
Are you implying Go Nagaishit is not safe and/or boring? Really user?
John Peterson
What in the fuck are you trying to say?
Noah Bennett
>That episode where jerry refuses to forgive tom and send him to hell. Little prick deserve to become lunch. I know it was a dream episode
Samuel Foster
She is actually shown. Her name is Mammy Two-shoes. I shit you not.
Adam Rodriguez
you are an uncultured faggot
Camden Morales
This is just an /m/ thread now. We've all seen this list because Anno's taste basically formed what we think of as canon for sci-fi anime.
Kevin Moore
>That fucking episode I have no doubts in my mind that when anno was talking about liking the series, he was talking about that episode.
Jaxon Jones
>Choking on Miyazaki and Tomino's cocks >Dat Tom and Jerry Sounds like The Master allright.
Nicholas Lewis
Not his most low brow trashy works. Nobody sane would seriously argue about Kekko Kamen being even decent.
Adam Carter
thanks for the touga reaction image
Charles Morales
>9. Tom & Jerry (1944) For once he has good taste
Matthew Watson
I want to know his top 10 manga list.
Ayden Thomas
So /m/ is all the Tom & Jerry posters in this thread right now?
Connor Murphy
make a 3x3 of the top 9 and post it in those threads
>Yamato >Gundam >Ideon >Tom & Jerry Not surprising but still good taste (except for CCA).
Camden Russell
Just because you have shit taste, doesn't mean everyone has to.
Ryder Baker
Watch them newfag.
Jeremiah Moore
I have, that's why I can safely say he has shit taste.
Bentley Gray
Top-tier taste with CCA. It's a pleb filter
Brody Bailey
>Animal Treasure Island I've always wanted to watch this one
Evan Lewis
Ideon was great even if not as imaginative as Mobile Suit Gundam
You're probably some SRW fag who went in thinking it was Gurren Lagann based on the Ideon Gun's unbalanced gameplay
Oliver Collins
I appreciate he had nothing better to watch back then, but why would someone in their right mind waste their time on such dated shit today?
Noah Howard
Go back to your normalfag website now.
Owen Perez
Nice bait.
Elijah Edwards
>muh sekrit club This is his normalfag site, don't be delusional
Hudson Long
Yup, you clearly have better taste in mecha anime than Hideaki Anno and Yoshiyuki Tomino. You must be some sort of critical theory savant. Or, perhaps, you're a complete fucking philistine and have no idea what you're talking about.
Brayden Myers
why did he become the Nichijou ED
Oliver King
>implying Sup Forums is not for normalfags.
Owen Wright
CCA is the opposite of a pleb filter. It has great animation and lots of action which any pleb would latch on to and immediately call great as though those are the only important aspects for anime. The story and characterization is garbage and it's poorly set up even with 0079 and Zeta preceding it.
